  1. I guess I don't understand what makes us think Capuano is never going to replicate his past two seasons worth of numbers, yet Vargas, who's had worse career numbers and is quickly turning back into a pumpkin, stays off the hook.
  2. You're comparing a guy with a career 4.33 ERA to a guy with a career 5.00 ERA. So what do we make of his 2005 and 2006?... Do we just throw those out and say that's not the pitcher he ever will be because he's struggled this year? Convince me that those 69 starts were flukes, compared to his 21 this year.
  3. To me, a good 4-5 innings are signs that he's starting to come around. 6-7 good innings would mean that he's came around.
  4. Bah, swiss cake rolls are still like only $1.39 for an entire box.

  6. Who's claiming players that are worth anything that have better records than the Brewers?
  7. Welcome aboard. I disagree with your assessments about the strikeouts... Much statistical evidence points to strikeouts having no correlation to run production. If DeJesus was a guy with a low OBP, I would care more about the K's... but he's also a decent contact hitter. Mench only has decent numbers this year because he's platooning. Any consistent time against RHP and he'd be downright miserable.
  8. So, if I'm German, can I can I refer to other Germans as "Boxheads"?
  9. Free autographs PLUS free cheese samples?... It's win-win.
  10. I don't think the Fielder comparison is appropriate... DeJesus is 27, in his 1st year of arby, and had numbers comparable to Billy Hall. Yeah, it would take effort to pry him loose, but I don't think we can compare him to a potential MVP-type player.
  11. Coach, any way I can get you to fax the report to me so we can address the issue publicly and put it to rest?
  12. Indeed... I've heard from semi-reliable sources that he had extended pharmaceutical benefits.

  14. I mentioned this in another thread, but it bears repeating. Reports you hear about which players have been claimed and which have cleared are more often than not false.
  15. Unless he's got some unquantifiable voodoo magic, he doesn't have the on-base skills to be a factor anymore.

  17. I don't think at this point, money is an object for claiming players who would be free agents. The problem is players like Garland, Dye or Dunn aren't the types of players who would get as far as the Brewers without being claimed by someone else.
  18. You know your team's going down the crapper when you WANT Scott Podsednik on your team.

  20. That's one crappy lineup.
  21. Cubs are on WGN tonight... maybe there'll be an update.
  22. If that is true he's out for the season. At the minimum.
  23. Seriously, I've contemplated writing a book.
  24. If it's a ligament tear, this is a really big deal. Just a real shame.
  25. Mr. Burns: Woah, slow down there maestro. There's a *New* Mexico?
