  1. As far as the lineup goes, we have scored approximately .3 runs per game of late, no? Brandon Webb BAA vs. RH: .229 Brandon Webb BAA vs. LH: .286 Not complicated. What do we have to lose? Not a thing.
  2. DD is an average pitcher. Nothing more. Nothing less.
  3. How have we arrived? After today we will be 2 games under .500 and we will be 10-14 against the worst teams in baseball. If that's having arrived, I hate to see "we're working on it."
  4. All week I heard how we didn't need to trade for a SP because our rotation with Sheets and Ohka would stand up against anyone else's in the NL. Has Doug adequately dispelled that myth today?
  5. TRADE CARLOS! This team isnot going to contend for teh playoffs. They've managed 7 friggin' runs against the Cubs in 4 games. LOL!
  6. For the record, I called it on Thursday morning. Then again, dropping 3 of 4 in this one, wasn't really a tough call. This is the BBrewers we're talking about after all.
  7. I have no problem calling this one must win. Teams capable of going to the playoffs simply do not go 1-3 at home against the Chicago Cubs. The Brewers are now a combined 10-13 against the 4 worst teams in baseball (Pirates, cubs, Nationals, Royals). The combined winning percentage of those teams is.378. The combined winning percentage of those teams against the Milwaukee Brewers: .565! Good grief! Continuing to lose to bad teams reduces the Brewers margin for error to nothing. Anyone who thinks this team can get anywhere near the playoffs pulling that is fooling themselves beyond belief. Those teams have the winning % they do because the other teams in the league competing for the playoffs are beating them like a rented mule on a regular basis. Beyond that, you enter that 9 game road trip after the break 2 games under .500, and they pretty much will have to be spectacular on that trip considering it comes against other playoff contenders in Arizona, SF, and Cincinatti.
  8. Apparently you haven't been watching the Brewers attempt to pitch this year. The only way to improve this team is to improve the pitching - heck maybe they wouldn't need to score 8 runs to actually win a game. The only way for this team to improve their pitching is to trade for it, or sign guys in FA. If you want to trade for it, you have to give value in return. ie., selling Carlos Lee. Signing pitching via FA requires money. If you give Carlos the kind of money he will command, where are you gonna come up with the cash for FA pichers? Especially in light of the outfield depth we apparently have waiting in the wings, there is absolutely no way that signing Carlos Lee makes sense for the Brewers, unless they are willing to increase the payroll by another $15 million or so in order to do both - which I think everyone would like to see I don't care how many home runs he hits, it cannot make up for a terrible pitching staff. Trading Carlos is not giving up, it is an attempt to improve this team.
  9. There is nothing to indicate the Brewers will win today. Therefore, it is probably safe to assume the Brewers will win today.
  10. Well considering that is pretty much in line with their winning % over the past however many years, I agree you should probably stop attending - not because you are bad luck, but because the Brewers are bad!
  11. That's actually a good point. We are in fact playing a real team at the moment. After tomorrow, with the possible exception of a few games against the Cardinals, we won't have to do that the rest of the season. Its funny, the Twins would probably win any division in the NL and they can't gain an inch in their own.
  12. Completely agree. At some point they either have to take a step, or they are kidding us and/or we are kidding ourselves. If they come out and do what a team like the White Sox, Red Sox, Yankees, or Cardinals (well not the Cardinals of the last week), would do over the next couple days, I will be ready to be convinced. If they can then manage to go 6-4 or so over the final 10 before the break, I just may be convinced (also assuming Sheets and Ohka are well on there way back by then - you can win with offense this time of year, but come August/September you better have pitching).
  13. This is a really big game for the Brewers. They have got the Cubs down big time. It is time to step on their collective throat and don't even give them the opportunity to get up. The way this series has gone thus far, and the way the Cubs are playing, 2-2 would be a tremendous disappointment. I fear that with a Cubs win today, and Prior (who threw much better in his last outing) going tomorrow, that would be a real possibility. Regardless of the outcome today, anything short of three wins in this series with the first two already in the books - against Maddux and Zambrano no less, would be a big time indictment of the Brewers. If they want to consider themselves contenders, the next two days definitely provide an opportunity to demonstrate as much.
  14. Yes, and team's like the White Sox do it occasionally, while teams like the Brewers do it regularly - which makes the point pretty irrelevant.
  15. That game was Exhibit A as to why they have to trade Carlos Lee. A team that loses a 5-1 lead against the worst team in baseball courtesy of 2 walks, 2 errors, and 2 hits, and then cannot score a single run in 5 more innings is not going anywhere near the playoffs. Use Carlos's value to improve your pitching and your defense for the next couple years, whether directly through the trade or throgh FA in the offseason, or both. You simply will never consistently score enough runs to overcome the poor pitching and defense we have seen from this team.
  16. Or, do his troubles have something to do with his throwing 12 pitches? He hasn't exactly been Mr. Reliable.
  17. adambr speaks the truth - the bullpen didn't get the job done. Although, it is also fair to point out that we managed to score one whole run in this game.
  18. As far as the initial sentiment that Wise should be traded. It may be too late for that. He has stunk out loud of late.
  19. Of course there is the issue of that 4 pitch walk you neglected to mention. That certainly helped matters.
  20. Where the Brewers are concerned, half empty is generally the safe bet.
  21. C'mon. One more bleeping hit!
  22. Yeah, that's never good with this team
  23. Me thinks we won't be seeing any Brewers leaving their bats at home plate again any time soon. The frustration Billy felt is certainly understanable, but that is exactly the kind of crap you do not need when things are going bad, and it sure looks to me like Ned is taking this opportunity to send that message, and also get Hall a little bit of time off which he could probably use being a guy who hasn't been true everyday player thus far in his career.
  24. No way i'd throw the ball back. I have no doubt Mr. Ego would want the ball. My price to him - somewhere in the neighborhood of $1million and a public admission that he has used performance enhancing drugs, and I'd tell many, many media outlets exactly what my price is. Something tells me that would be a bit steep for him, but something else tells me I'd make out alright. Would be fun too.
