  1. Pipe dreams are great, but the Rays aren't dealing Kazmir. 1. There were multiple reports of Kazmir's availability last winter, the Rays did acknowledge some discussions. 2. Kazmir has an injury history of his own. I'd be interested, but I wouldn't sell out to make it happen.
  2. I don't see how Gallardo's situation has any bearing on Sheets' situation. The Brewers already knew they'd have to replace Ben next year, which will still be the case. If they panic and overpay Ben, it'll hurt this franchise a lot more than if they let him walk, and deal for a replacement next winter, which I believe was the plan in the first place.
  3. This is actually better than when we learned Juan Nieves has shredded his rotator cuff, needlessly trying to add muscle over the winter. He had every bit as much potential as Yo does now, and that one was his pitching shoulder, not his knee.
  4. You said "Humor me", and "Sign Bonds" in the same sentence - did anyone else feel the ground shake?
  5. Yes, I do think the Brewers would consider dealing Hart for a pitcher, but that's going to be Lincecum, or in that price range. They wouldn't just move him to get "a pitcher", but they do have LaPorta playing RF at Huntsville, so it wouldn't shock me at all. I don't want to see it, I love Corey Hart, but I sure wouldn't call it impossible. The Giants pursued Delmon Young and then Alex Rios when Lincecum's name came up, if he's the guy you want, it's probably Corey.
  6. "I'm not trying to be a jerk face"....that may be my favorite quote in the history of this site.
  7. Since the Twins just signed Nathan to a new deal, that idea is dead. I would not trade LaPorta for Clement. If the Brewers do trade LaPorta, I want them to get a hot young arm in return. Both Salome and Lucroy are performing well in the minors right now, the Brewers' need for a young catcher may not be as strong as it had been.
  8. Oswalt has done better in his recent starts, after a horrible beginning. He just doesn't look like that dominant guy anymore, he's still solid, but he's not as scary as he once was.
  9. I'm amazed by how much Cubs fans hate Braun. Why, because he's good? Throwing beer at an opposing player is just garbage, I hope they at least throw those losers out of the game when that stuff happens. Ned should have pulled Yo, there's no reason to mess with that young man. GREAT win, 2 of 3 at Wrigley - TWICE!
  10. What a loser I am, I started the April thread, then didn't make a prediction of my own. If I had, I would have said 14-13, so I'll take the "L" either way. For May 1-0 at Chicago 1-2 at Houston 1-2 at FL 2-2 vs St L 2-1 vs LA 1-2 at Boston 2-1 at Pitt...because it has to happen sometime 2-2 at Wash 2-1 vs Atl 2-0 vs Houston 16-13
  11. Come back to earth for Yo at this point would mean he actually allowed 2-3 runs.
  12. http://i202.photobucket.com/albums/aa319/toddecopp/OldsOmega.jpg It belonged to my parents, but it looked almost exactly like this one. The 1975 Olds Omega, Detroit's way of telling high school girls to stay away.
  13. If the Brewers had won one more game on this last homestand, I would be thrilled. As it is, I can't knock their current position, they played a tough schedule, short-handed, and they're right in the mix.
  14. Ah yes, the kid who's dad just bought him a new sports car really bugged me in my high school days. I can't imagine having a street full of SUVs like that.
  15. I don't think Mike Cameron will suddenly make every guy in the lineup a better hitter, that's ridiculous. I'm excited to get him back because I know he will make the team better, there is no question of that. Tuesday is the first day this team will have its projected lineup on the field - which is not a bad thing. Not only is Cameron the best defender on this team, he is also either the best, or second-best base runner, he knows what he's doing out there. He's also a guy who takes his brain with him into the batters box, he'll make pitchers work to get him out, and he'll exploit mistakes. No, Mike Cameron is not the savior of this team, but he is absolutely a positive addition.
  16. The move makes sense. The team wants Bush to continue working as a starter, they didn't just tell you they think Turnbow or McClung have more value than Bush, they just told you they aren't going to carry 6 starting pitchers in Milwaukee, and that Bush was the guy the decided to send down. When Dillon comes back, either McClung or Turnbow are history - if that does not happen, I'll join in the criticism. Oh, by the way, getting Mike Cameron back is positively huge.
  17. Oswalt is recently quoted as saying would approve a trade "Only if the club asked me too, which they haven't done yet." It's been nothing but speculation, but it isn't going away. I think people just realize he's the most marketable player they've got, a proven winner like that is going to net a great return. They could probably get a good deal for Berkman too, but nobody's going to take on Carlos' horrible contract.
  18. I have to ask, if Clement's future is indeed at catcher, why did Seattle just block him like that?
  19. I really want to see Parra get deeper into the game this time around. He may already be the guy headed out if Sheets starts Tuesday, another 5 IP outing would seal it.
  20. Pitchers Joshua Fields, and Christian Friedrich are making this a two-man race in the mock draft right now. If you've got a preference, or you'd prefer a bat, hit Mass' link and make your pick.
  21. Yes, I would love to add Oswalt. I would imagine this would take at least three young players for the Astros to do it, and I know Oswalt has stated in the past that he likes it where he is, and that he'll likely retire when his current contract is up. I imagine they'd do all they could to get Gallardo, but that the Brewers would say no, so you're at Parra, plus two. That team needs pitching depth, which makes me think the Brewers would target a different arm from a team that needs young bats more than young arms at the moment. Contract details... 14M in 2009, 15M in 2010, 16M in 2011, complete no-trade clause, team option for 2012 at 16M, or he gets a 2M buyout, Oswalt has the right to opt out if the 2012 option is exercised.
  22. Perhaps if we didn't give away outs on the bases....
  23. The Brewers are now 6-0 vs left-handed starters this season. For those of you scoring at home, the Brewers are scheduled to face lefties in each of the next three games. The Cubs will have the opportunity to skip Rich Hill's turn in the rotation, and throw three righties at the Brewers.
  24. What's that...another lefty? Oh goodie!
  25. Derrek Lee was removed for a pinch runner, so the Cubs' best power option is not available the rest of the way.
