  1. I was kind of hoping for a rainout today, fearing exactly what happened. I convinced myself that I was overreacting, and that Sheets would come through just fine. I should know better than to trust me by now.
  2. So you'd rather have Hall at 3B and Counsell/Graff playing CF rather than Hall at 3B and Gross/Hart playing CF? I have a hard time calling the firts scenario the "best possible lineup". I'd rather have fun and win. I'm a 39-year-old Milwaukee Brewers lifer....which means I have (at least) one coming. I know it's only April, and I know there are things about the team that could be better....but I don't care. My friends in Chicago and NY are looking up at my Brewers....don't change anything, don't run the numbers, don't print the graphs...I don't care. Fun rocks.
  3. Outstanding effort again...how could you not like this team? There was some confusion around here at various points in the last 6-8 months, but I'm here to help.... The Carlos Lee trade was a steal. Counsell was worth the money. Suppan was worth the money. Keeping Mench and Jenkins was the right move. Turnbow will bounce back and help Cordero dominate the late innings. Hall to the outfield was the right move, it allows the team to field its best possible lineup. Spending 16 million on a bunch of veteran reserves is not only affordable, it'll help the team win games, and keep players fresh over the long season. Did I miss any?
  4. I am not going to drink the Kool-Aid I'm ready, leave the whole bucket.
  5. Holy cow, what a win! YESSSSSSSS!!!!! What a fantastic team effort! Way to go Ned challenging your young arms to get it done! Way to go bullpen, Villanueva in particular, but the whole bunch of 'em tonight! Way to go Gwynn, Counsell, JJ, Prince! Great catch Jenks! Wow! Wow! Wow! THIS is why they were willing to spend more money to fill out the bench this year, mix and match and match and mix!
  6. Right now, PayPal is on the list. One of my clients has run into nothing but trouble using them to process online orders, and tech support has been a complete waste of time.
  7. Melvin was assured by Capellan's agent that the right-hander would return to the minor league club. Capellan will lose two days of pay because of being placed on the restricted list. Not much more than that.
  8. ask axe Two different words, two different meanings.
  9. Bradyo, I don't know if you chose your words poorly, or if you really are having a problem...but that may be the rudest thing I've ever read on this site. I don't know you, and I don't know colbyjack personally either, but I assure you, that man is "in" the game. What's your deal?
  10. Ok, Prince and Rickie....I'm glad he's getting this one off....but c'mon Hall, you're next!
  11. 8-0 Braves last night....this team is starting to look special.
  12. When your #1 starter has an ERA above 9 and a WHIP above 2...this would be a bad beginning. Stay tuned.
  13. So, we don't need Ryan Braun now, right? Great to get a W, one of those things where you lose every game in a series is always tough to deal with.
  14. What a drag, one garbage inning and the show was over. I absolutely expect a win tomorrow, I think Sheets will eat 'em.
  15. Watching Suppan tonight was a lot like watching Doug Davis. He made some pitches when he needed to, but the Dodgers had plenty of baserunners...in and out of trouble most of the time. He looked exactly as advertised, a guy that can keep his team in a game, but will never overwhelm the opposition. I'll take it, the team certainly could have won the game.
  16. I just got home from the game...man, I hate the ones like tonight. 11 runners stranded, many of them in scoring position, Hall gets picked off, Weeks hits a shot right at 'em, Villanueva...wow. I like a lot of what I see from the team, but tonight they seemed to work the perfect combination to prevent themselves from winning.
  17. Especially if Schmidt goes deep and they bring in that fat guy who made us look foolish. Name escapes me. That would be Jonathan Broxton...the same fellow who clogged up the Dodgers' attempts to deal for Manny Ramirez...they wouldn't let him go.
  18. Iv'e never liked Kent. Goes back to him tyring to start a fight with Prince last season in September. Nobody likes Kent, it happens everywhere he goes, and that....would be a short fight.
  19. My favorite moment in tonight's game...Turnbow's breaking stuff locking someone up again. My least favorite...was that actually a walk to the opposing pitcher to load the bases? I'm happy for Mench getting one out, attention all Mench haters, that ties his HR total for the Brewers last season, please keep wanting him gone for 50 cents and a burger.
  20. They should talk. Randy Wolf? How many All-Star games has he been to? The picther he's facing, Capuano, has at least gotten that. bacon, you're right to defend the Brewers' pitching staff...the fans in LA would know better if they paid attention to the national media at all, Milwaukee's rotation as been listed as a strength everywhere possible this spring. To answer your question though...that would be one All-Star selection for Wolf, and one for Capuano...Wolf was there in 2003.
  21. Jeff Kent evidentally called MP "a bad investment of a ballpark." That's just who Kent is, he's moody, over-sensitive and childish...this has been going on since he was in high school. I will agree, the Dodgers did not play particularly well, but if my team got two hits in a game, I wouldn't comment on how my outfielders cost us our chance.
  22. Sometimes I think Jack Z gets a little too much praise. I like him, and I can see that he's clearly helping the organization, but he doesn't walk on water. I give him credit for taking Fielder when he did, I know there were teams who thought that was a reach at the time, but I also thought Mark Rogers was a strange pick, and a clear reach, which may indeed be the case. When you see this many solid young players in the everyday lineup, you know the scouting director is good at what he does, now I just hope some of the young arms he's taken start to make it as well. As for the decline in rankings, that isn't a big deal when you're still at #7, graduating your best prospects to the major league team is going to have an effect like that. It's a trend that you need to break, and head back in the other direction, but when you see Braun and Gallardo nearly ready, after so many others have already reached Milwaukee, there's no cause for alarm.
  23. Whatever became of Richie Sexton and Richie Weeks?
