  1. One thing I don't get is the almost complete lack of coverage this event is getting. Most of the links on the web take you to a video clip Jonathan Mayo did last November, when the new CBA was first announced. I'm not sure why MLB wouldn't want to make some news with this....it was their idea, and it's the first time around.
  2. The lottery has been moved to Wednesday at 12:30 PM Central.
  3. Jonathan Mayo is a friend, I've got a message in, I'll let you know what he tells me.
  4. Please be careful not to turn this into another "What can we get for Greinke" thread...we already have one, in the Trade Rumors forum.
  5. Do I think the Brewers would have interest in Hamilton? Sure, why not? Do I think Hamilton might want to reunite with the Narrons? Sure, why not? Do I think Hamilton is going to get less money than most people seem to think he'll get....yes, I do. Do I think it's at least possible that the Brewers would offer Hamilton 100ish million, and he'd take it...yes, I do. Given all of that, do I think it's likely that Josh Hamilton will sign a long term contract with the Brewers after this season....no, I really don't. We'll see what happens, I don't think it's as far fetched as some people do, but I just think that if it came right down to it, either someone else would add an extra ten million to their offer, or the Brewers would consider Hamilton's past health issues, and back away.
  6. Here's a look at US market sizes... http://www.tvjobs.com/cgi-bin/markets/market2.cgi
  7. Yes, the draft budget is increased if you win a pick. Some year, you just know a team will blow out their budget, and if they do that, and lose their first round pick as a result, that first rounder will be awarded to another team via lottery as well.
  8. That's right, Brewerfans, your favorite MLB team has a chance to win an extra pick in next year's draft. That pick could be traded prior to this year's trade deadline... http://www.baseballintheblood.com/?p=539
  9. If it's the Angels, Segura and Richards sure look like the top targets from their system, but there may be one other wrinkle that would fit into the Brewers' stated objective. Ervin Santana hasn't been much help to the Angels this year...if he had been, the Angels probably wouldn't be too worried about Greinke. Santana is signed through this year, with a 13M option for next year, with a 1M buyout. Santana's been all over the place in his MLB career, but he's definitely a guy who could pitch in Milwaukee next year...could he be one piece in a deal?
  10. My buddy Steve got into a nest of hornets this weekend. He was stung several times, but in particular, one got him on the index finger, and the sting has become badly infected. Steve's finger is about twice its normal size, from the first knuckle to the tip, and it's turned nearly purple.
  11. A flight from Minneapolis to Seattle next to "Body Odor Guy"....that was awful.
  12. Hart can play first, left or right, his value is that he is a good, productive player who's not past his prime. It all depends on what position the other team needs, and how badly they think they need it. The Brewers have no business trading Corey Hart, he's a good, productive player. The only way you do that is if you go into a complete rebuild, which would surrender at least one season prior to Opening Day...honestly, I don't think Mr Attanasio has that in him.
  13. Too bad, so sad, they wanted to make an example of Braun, and instead they made an example of their own testing program. Oh, and he's tied for the league lead in homers now too...
  14. I would have done the deals with Hart and Weeks in a minute. Wolf, and Aramis, are both examples of what often happens when you fill holes through free agency...you overpay. K-Rod - I don't think the team had any intention of him being here this year, they offered arbitration, to get draft picks...and SURPRISE, he accepted. CC chose to leave, and that's just the way it is. Prince hired Scott Boras after the team drafted him, and that's just the way it is. Either of these two players would have gotten more money than they'll ever spend if they had stayed in Milwaukee, but they decided to go. Right now, it's frustrating because things aren't working, but extending the home grown talent, as they've done with Hart, Weeks, Gallardo and Lucroy...keeps proven major league talent at a price that doesn't crush the franchise. It's the Wolf, Suppan, Aramis level contracts that really bring risk, because the price is inflated and the player is past his prime.
  15. Right-hander Rodolfo Fernandez, age 22, has been assigned to Helena.
  16. Sheets threw for scouts today, several teams were there, I have no idea if the Brewers were. He's got a rebuilt elbow, and he says he feels good. Sheets is taking the "Oswalt Approach"...he wants to sign with a contender for the rest of this season.
  17. The Brewers expect to announce a number of additional signings from last week's First-Year Player Draft by the end of the week, including a deal with second-round pick Tyrone Taylor, a center fielder from Torrance (Calif.) High School, who had a scholarship offer from Cal-State Fullerton. Club officials cannot comment on any of the pending signings until the players pass physical exams. -Adam McCalvy
  18. Haniger confirms, his deal is done.

  20. 3and2, Chicken Wolf is definitely on the radar...I love that one.
  21. This week's winner...Egyptian Healy...aka, "Long John." http://www.baseballintheblood.com/?p=529
  22. Mark McCoy, round 26, says he'll enroll at Wake Forest.
  23. http://www.baseballintheblood.com/?p=524 4 HR in current series.
  24. Coulter has signed, these are moving quickly.
