  1. To this point, it sounds like no one has offered Hamilton anything beyond four years. We all saw Prince sit around last winter, then get a huge contract, so of course Hamilton could too...but right now, I still wouldn't rule the Brewers out if they decide they want him.
  2. Cubsdie, the Brewers did want pitching and a shortstop, they wouldn't have traded Greinke strictly for Olt, but Olt was a player they tried to get. Texas wouldn't let go of Martin Perez or Olt at the time, they offered two other pitchers and a lesser shortstop, which caused the Angels to change their offer from Segura and a pitcher to Segura and both pitchers, which sealed the deal. I would love to know, if Texas had offered Olt and two arms, which way would the Brewers have gone? I do think Melvin would have made the deal with Texas, because Olt was more highly thought of at the time, and there were questions as to whether Segura would stick at SS going forward.
  3. This is fun! The Reds came to watch him throw, and they liked him, so they gave him a questionnaire to fill out, essentially, a psychological profile. He reached out to me last night, and told me some of the questions that were on it. Whatever happens, I'm having a good time helping him deal with scouts, paperwork, etc.
  4. I'm with those who prefer to have Segura, based solely on the fact that he fills the SS position. I just find it amusing how quickly things can change. I would bet, if Olt had been available to the Brewers, Greinke would have been traded to Texas at the time.
  5. It seems as though the current trend is, "The best player on a team that makes the playoffs." Braun over Kemp, Posey over Braun, and Cabrera over Trout. However you slice it, Braun should probably have one MVP, and he does.
  6. My take on it... http://www.baseballintheblood.com/?p=693
  7. Apparently, Reyes, Buehrle, Johnson, Buck and Bonifacio to Toronto.
  8. I would imagine the Brewers will keep the young shortstop, and I don't know if Texas, or I guess Arizona, like Segura enough to deal Olt...but there's this... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/11/braves-turned-down-simmons-for-olt-swap.html
  9. Neither pitcher is likely to be ready when the season starts. If the Brewers pursue either, to me it has to be Soria, but I wouldn't chase hard after either guy right now.

  12. Personally, I'd kill it, but since I know they won't, I'd go ahead and approve it for both leagues. Two sets of rules makes no sense.
  13. LA will chase just about every free agent starter there is, and they already have six SPs under contract for next year, so someone will probably be dealt. Under contract...Kershaw, Billingsley, Beckett, Capuano, Lilly, and Harang. Obviously, Kershaw cannot be had...which guy do you want?
  14. Haren is now a free agent, feel free to chat him up in the rumors section.
  15. The Royals have cut ties with Jeffress, I would have to think someone will pick him up.
  16. Molitor fan, you're right, that happened in Baltimore in April, of '87, but the infielder was Rick Burleson, who was playing second base for Baltimore. The ball was hit right at him, and he couldn't get his glove down in time to even deflect it.
  17. I've never thought this was impossible, and I still don't. I don't believe Hamilton will be a 200M guy, but he will absolutely stretch the Brewers' budget...and this is a team that led the league in scoring. If there's a trade out there for pitching, then I'd love it...if this was the big move of the winter...it's the wrong move.

  20. Logic says "you're right"...the fact that he throws with his left hand says, "you never know."
  21. To answer the obvious question, he says he felt discomfort September 22nd.

  25. I chatted online with the kid a few nights ago, and it's funny, even though the MLB Scouting Bureau has told him he's a prospect, and added him to their database - he doesn't believe it. In his own words, "It's every kid's dream, I guess I just don't know what to think." After our conversation, I contacted a friend who scouts for Seattle, and one who scouts for the Yankees - they gave me the same answer, "Any kid who's been labeled a prospect by the MLB Scouting Bureau will be followed by all teams."
