  1. Baldkin, it's interesting that you reference Juan Pierre. Remember a couple of years ago when this team aggressively pursued Pierre and Dave Roberts? It seems as though the front office never gave up on adding that sort of player...and now they got him.
  2. Gomez has a lot of physical talent, so of course he could develop into a much better player than he's been....but this man is absolutely not prepared to be a leadoff hitter right now.
  3. Why do some people take the time to sweep their floor, then leave the pile they made sitting there in the corner?
  4. Thanks Patrick, excellent analysis. I think the Brewers did a great job of addressing organizational needs, without "reaching." Some of the guys signed too late to play pro ball this year, but that's about the only complaint I've got - I think this could be a great draft class.
  5. In my case, I just got a new laptop, when I set up my email account, this is what I've been stuck with.
  6. My email's not working right on my work account. Incoming messages are fine, outgoing is getting out...and no one can figure out why.
  7. Way to go Jeff! It's awesome of you to come on here and provide feedback...welcome to Brewerfan! -Todd
  8. Mr Juden has joined Brewerfan as a member...welcome aboard Jeff!
  9. Baldkin, a torn labrum is a HUGE deal. I spoke to a retired player just last night, who told me his still isn't always right, and he tore his four years ago.
  10. Thanks everyone....and there will be more interviews coming, there's no question of that.
  11. For those of you who use Facebook, here's the link to the fan page for, "Jeff Juden and the Nuke 14 Band." http://www.facebook.com/pages/Jeff-Juden-and-the-Nuke-14-Band/117059146632
  12. I hope you like it. Jeff, I know you're looking in tonight to read it...thank you for being so open with me. -Todd
  13. I recently did something nice for someone, and I received a, "I'll let you know if I'm happy about it" email in return. Take it, Mr Morrison...."People are strange..."
  14. It's a reasonable deal for a guy coming off a fantastic season...why not? This team won 80 games with an absolutely horrible showing from its starting pitchers - that shows that there are some real strong points in other areas. I'm glad to see a quick focus on keeping a key contributor, you don't get better by letting an affordable star walk out the door.
  15. Like it or not, I can't see the Brewers trading Fielder for three prospects this off-season. Prince is coming off a great year, the team doesn't have to move him, and Mr Attanasio will want to keep the turnstiles spinning. In my opinion, if Prince goes, there's a marquee arm coming back...which makes it tough to find a match. It's got to be someone you can sell...someone with good numbers in 2009, or at least someone who's had a ton of media hype. I would imagine most of these guys would be impossible to get, and some of them aren't even practical in the first place, so my bet is that Prince stays. Tim Lincecum Zack Greinke Dan Haren Felix Hernandez Josh Johnson Justin Verlander Adam Wainwright Jon Lester Matt Cain Ubaldo Jimenez Clayton Kershaw Chad Billingsley I won't include Roy Halladay, because I think Toronto will look for multiple prospects for him at this point - they won't be seen as 2010 contenders - no matter what spin they put on things.
  16. A friend of mine told me she and her husband have decided to divorce. This morning she emailed me to tell me she'd contacted an attorney, and was told they may not be able to represent her, because they have so many divorces currently in progress...they literally may not have time to handle another one right now. I get it, I know how common divorce is...but that just makes me sad.
  17. Yes, Doug deserves some of the blame for the organization's lack of pitching depth. He decides who to trade, and who to trade for, and he has allowed a hole to develop in the organization - above A ball, there's almost no pitching at all. It's not just Doug though, Jack Z could have focused on more arms prior to last year. Developing pitching will always be the hardest aspect of building a team - but not one advanced arm in the first round during Jack's tenure? Three HS arms in the first round, two of whom got hurt, with the other one almost all the way out now due to drug use. That's the heart of the matter right there...not enough arms to help in Milwaukee, or to use in trades for veteran pitching. The drafts produced very little pitching, and Doug didn't deal to fill the holes. When you're missing by this much...it's an organizational problem, not just the GM. I think Doug has done an outstanding job as the GM here, but I could see this season costing him his job in the end. It's too bad, and I hope it doesn't happen, but if the team freefalls through these last two months, I could see Mark A. deciding to change drivers.
  18. Jonathan Mayo says...Richard, Poreda, Adam Russell, Dexter Carter for Peavy.
  19. Amy Nelson, from ESPN, promises details shortly.
  20. First name out...LHP Aaron Poreda headed to San Diego.
  21. No word yet on whether Peavy has given his ok this time.
  22. To be clear, Heyman did not say the Brewers were offering Gamel or Escobar, what he said was: aggressive Brewers look like threat for halladay. hearing manny parra's name. but wouldnt escobar/ gamel have to go too? I think everyone assumes one of the two would have to be included, but there's no indication of which, if either, have been offered.
