  1. “The people in this room matter” rings a little hollow when they just tossed Caleb Durbin and Isaac Collins aside. I’m used to them trading away veterans up for FA, but trading ROTY candidates is new.
  2. I’m resigned to accepting bites at the apple, without hoping for a World Series championship. The Brewers can’t win a WS unless their is significant payroll disparity reform. I’m 69, it probably won’t happen in my lifetime. Maybe the fact that the MLBPA President couldn’t keep his hand out of the till, or keep it in his pants will speed up reform, but I doubt it.
  3. Angel’s fans say he was benched five times by Ron Washington for not running out singles, forgetting how many outs there were, making errors on routine plays. I hope Murphy has his Taser charged up. Durbin was a clutch player who left it all the field. Maybe the pitching obtained makes the trade worthwhile, but I don’t like how Milwaukee sports media feels it necessary to denigrate Durbin to justify the trade.
  4. Bad signing. He’s on the decline. He has character issues. I liked Caleb Durbin.
  5. Seems like a hope and a prayer for an important position. They had to try seven players last year. I hope they have a better plan this year.
  6. I hope this trade works out. But saying it’s not a drop going from Durbin to Hamilton, is not true. Hamilton hit .198 last year. Durbin hit .256 and was clutch. He had 4/14 NLCS hits. We need a power bat. What good are 14 starting pitchers?
  7. Daniel Vogelbach is 270 lbs. Williams is 175 lbs. He should be emulating Sal Frelick. This team needs a contact hitter that can drive in runs not a guy that strikes out or pops out with RISP.
  8. I prefer smaller baseball players to be contact hitters that occasionally hit a HR. I don’t want someone swinging for the fences to have a high strikeout rate. If he can beat the odds and be a high contact hitter and hit HRs great, but I am skeptical.
  9. Typical. All the reporting after the trade is how it was a good trade , we got two big league ready prospects. Then little by little it will be wait, they’re not quite ready, they will get injured and here we go again.
  10. Sickening. Another All Star traded away for prospects. Another short utility fielder, that swings for the fences. Why don’t we just admit we are a AAAA team? I feel like Terry Malloy.
  11. Anthony Seigler was given more than a fair chance. I did not think he had the great plate discipline he was supposed to. I’m tired of the Brewers shopping in the bargain basement. We need a legit clean up hitter. If Yelich’s back is bothering him, he should retire. Then the Brewers could sign a healthy power hitter. And he could avoid a lifetime of chronic pain.
  12. I don’t want Peralta traded unless we receive an established hitter. Either a decent DH or pesky high average contact hitter. We have plenty of pitching prospects. Why give away our most reliable pitcher for a prospect?
  13. I have given up hoping to be in the World Series. I would start again if a salary cap was ever instituted. I think if our pitching had no injuries and Yelich didn’t have back problems we could win a WS, but I don’t think that will happen.
  14. We had one reliable starter in the playoffs. Let’s try winning a World Series next year. That means keep Peralta. If they don’t keep Peralta, that means they’re just happy with bites at the apple. I want to eat the whole apple for once.
  15. I mainly fault two strategies for our playoff problems. In the NLDS Murphy used the wrong pitcher rotation. Preister should have started the 2nd game. Peralta should have pitched the fifth, with an extra days rest and at home. I never thought we could win the NLDS. It was basically an All Star team versus an excellent regular team. I think they could have won one or two games if they had extended at bats that forced the starters out, but that’s hard to do when the pitchers are living in the strike zone. I don’t see the Brewers ever winning a World Series with Yelich as the DH. If he’s having back problems he should retire.
