  1. The Brewers are a surprise story of the year, 2 games up on the league, so let's make it all about the Cardinals.
  2. Right on the Cards, and the Marlins are 6-2 since they were in Milwaukee and have won 3 straight series.
  3. Interesting observation...now that you mention it I can't think of a single memorable player with that number, pitcher or otherwise. My daughter had a Richie Sexson jersey.
  4. I went to opening day in Baltimore in 88 and thought this is the worst team I've ever seen. I technically didn't "see" the Marlins this weekend but wow.
  5. At times it has felt like October baseball, weather included. Only other one was the last game in San Diego.
  6. Brewers took the season series from the Cards last year.
  7. It's $20 to listen all year on a desktop and $2.99 a month to get the At Bat feature and listen on mobile, TV blackout rules don't apply.
  8. I heard the full call, and that's exactly what happened. There was little reaction from the horrible crowd in San Diego last night as well. He also admitted that he missed it, so it isn't like he was trying to cover for anything. The full call is posted at the end of last night's game thread (thx SomewhereInTime; I'd been looking all over for it) - Ueck says he thought it was a foul tip. Leitner's call for the Pads is priceless - he just won't let the Braun thing go so nice to hear Braun shut him up.
  9. Well that was fun! And a lot of us there to enjoy it. When the Brewers started coming to San Diego 20 years ago there'd be maybe 15 Brewer fans in the park. Even the UW club outing was about 2/3 Padres fans. A big change, starting about 10 years ago. The mlb.com recap and Must C clips have only the back end of Ueck's call. Now I know why. Back tomorrow for the sweep!
  10. And of course, I'm going to be out and about during the game. Time to install the MLB app. And of course I'm at work and blacked out in San Diego. There tomorrow and Sat. UW tailgate is on Sat. this year at 3.
  11. The stat tracker isn't right - it doesn't show balls on Ks or strikes on BBs and only the pitch hit into play for balls in play.
  12. First pitch hit pretty well but Yelich tracked it down. Suter was squeezed on the 3-2 for the walk. Good inning.
  13. He did but so did OSU's D line. Hornibrook looked better against them than Darnold did.
  14. I was there for the Iowa game last week and after you exchanged your voucher you got to pick your section. It worked the same for my brother for the Maryland game. It took maybe 20-25 minutes from there to the seats, with a long line/backup at the end, so that's a fair amount of the delay - it looked like about 1/2 the sections were filled at kickoff. Some of those empty seats are kids moving down to be closer, with friends etc., since everyone stands the whole game so you can pack more in. And if you spread those empty seats over the whole section it would look full. I think it benefits both the students and the other fans to allow students to sell their vouchers to non-students so I'd be against that changing. Especially if it's just because some guy on TV comments about how it looks. My brother was in O and told me that P sucks but I was misinformed - the kids in P were really nice and I learned that it is in fact O that sucks.
  15. I agree 77 is too early. 77s are through high school before the net is a thing. All of the 70s and into the early 80s are Gen Xers. Per usual the Onion nails it: https://sports.theonion.com/in-my-day-ballplayers-were-for-****-1819583715
  16. In the early 80s one of my friends gave me the jersey that Mike Ferraro wore in 1972 (it has "Ferraro '72" stitched into the shirtail). All polyester, really hot and uncomfortable. I wore it until about 5 years ago when it kind of fell apart and didn't fit anymore (shrunk bc of repeated washings you know). Wow I just looked, he made $7,200 that year. My daughter showed up to a game in 2011 wearing #10 (by chance, of course).
  17. A couple grand slams and the Dodgers are right back in this one.
  18. No they don't, just trying to break Chase's rhythm. And it worked. I guess technically it's legal but it's sleazy especially in a game that doesn't matter to you and matters to the other guys. More good reasons to hate the Cards.
  19. Good start on the Cards won't have anything to play for front.
  20. Yes go Cubs, and not just because I hate the Cards 1000x more. They have a Bill James clinch (lead squared is more than games remaining times 4) and 99+% chance in the simulations. The problem is that they will have to win at least one meaningless game to win more than 2 in the series.
