  1. Hawing's dream is the only thing that scares me regarding this game at this point. I like it when everyone gets a chance to bat in the first inning. It's kind of like tee-ball.
  2. Just throwing this on the pile: Based on what I've read, it sounds like KC would much rather deal Dotel somewhere for prospects and return Soria to the closer role. I think they like him a lot, meaning they probably wouldn't be willing to deal him for Vargas. Others said that it'd kind of seem like a backwards deal for KC, and I agree with that. They're looking to aquire young, cheap (for now) talent rather than those larger salaries.
  3. Ortiz lives in WI in the offseason. He met his wife while playing up there. He's often seen at Packers games. I'm partially amazed because of the cold winter brings around here, but he's spent a lot of his career around the midwest. Funny what love will do to a guy. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. Hatton fights are hilarious. Both are great showmen in their own way. Unfortunately, I think the fight wouldn't be very good. Like Rp said, whenever differing styles get together, it's either awesome or flat out terrible... I think this one would be terrible because Mayweather is too quick. Just an opinion, though. I'm wrong all the time.
  5. All Along the Watchtower. Jimi Hendrix.
  6. I think Santo really drags him down. It's almost like broadcasting every day with a nine year old. He'd never say that and probably would be offended by that statement, but it's true. I used to like Hughes a lot more. Of course, he was in Milwaukee at the time and it was before I ever heard Powell call a game. I think I'd enjoy Pat a lot more if he was placed with a competent color guy. Given the choice between the two, I'll take Powell every day of the week. I liked Hughes in Milwaukee, but I'm glad he jumped ship so Powell could come on board. Things appear to have worked out for the best in my eyes.
  7. Just read this blurb on Sportsline... Take it for what its worth. News: LHP Chris Capuano, on the 15-day DL with a strained left groin, is expected to throw a simulated game Wednesday. If all goes well, he is a possible starter Tuesday when the Brewers face the Pittsburgh Pirates.
  8. I think they at one point had a list of all 8 players, but only showed video of four actually getting their 3000th. I only remember this because I was half paying attention, and I thought more than four guys managed to hit the milestone with one team, too. Then they showed the list, and I realized they just didn't show video for everyone.
  9. Yeah. I might have been harsh on Dave up there... He's one of those guys that shouldn't be removed until he's ready to hang 'em up. That said, as an outsider, I can't say I'm a fan of his style... That's just me, though. (It's because I want him to yell at somebody.) I wish I liked the Angels announcers more. Unfortunately I don't. Yikes. I threadjacked, too. Getting back to BA. I like him, but I'm not to the point where I would fight to get him back on the air if he was removed. Rock is rock... Sometimes there's a gem in that gravel pile.
  10. Aside from hitting, I've seen Florida's CFers give up at least two inside the park home runs this season. If this trade goes through, I think it's an upgrade from a group of youngsters who need more seasoning, but still might turn out to be not very good. (On a side note, It's fun for me when Brian posts something humorous. Each time, I read what he types and then glance over at Earl Weaver to see him laughing. Then ol' Earl and I share a hearty laugh together.)
  11. Last week, I think Gracie spent the better part of an hour whining about the length of the game (against the D Rays) and complaining about "AL baseball" even though the game was being played in Phoenix. He then proceeded to complain about having to get up for a noon start the following day. Poor fella. Humor is great throughout the course of the game, but Mark, seriously... You have enough money. You don't have to work if you don't want to. Just invest it wisely. And yes, Blowers is horrible. He kind of sounds like a kid who was just yelled at by his parents. Dave Niehaus is bad too, in my opinion. His only redeeming quality is the fact that he sounds like an old crotchety old man. I keep waiting for him to get mad and yell about something. I usually watch Mariners games with the sound turned very low and something else playing in the background.
  12. I tend to watch Brewers games more often than not. Because of this, I've heard a lot of Brian and Bill this year. I've loosely started keeping track in my mind the number of suggestive double entendres Brian uses. This could all be due to my excessive uncensored daily XM listening habits because I'm certain Brian isn't doing it on purpose. Still though, it makes the broadcast more entertaining for me in its odd little way. EDIT: I should also add that I don't really notice it with other broadcasters. I listen to Vasgersian, Sutton, Scully along with the Red Sox and Seattle announcers quite a bit, and for whatever reason I don't notice it with them. Oh, and Coshun is one tan individual. Right now, he might beat Uecker's orange days.
  13. Performance matters more than anything, but it's always nice to find players to identify with and root for. People will do it via the color of their skin, hair color, facial hair style, number, brand of equipment used, position, style of play (gritty!) and countless other things that make any player unique. This Milwaukee team (either naturally or on purpose) appears to be relatively diverse ethnically in comparison to others past and present around the league. In addition, the chemistry of the clubhouse appears that everyone on the team is pulling for everyone else to succeed... or at least it looks like the guys get along. Whether that makes any difference on the field has been argued here previously, but I know I always find it easier to root for the team that seems to enjoy what they're doing. I definitely know I don't miss the days of player's wives beating up Alex Sanchez. I wonder what Mrs. Quevedo is up to these days?
  14. I wish Akbar Crunch was a real cereal. It's a trap!
  15. Yankees sign two 19 year olds out of China It's interesting to me that the Yankees were the first team to go into China to find talent. With the enormous population, I'd imagine there's quite a bit of potential in China, and probably the logical place for the next big import explosion of talent. I'm sure there's lots of folks interested in how these two kids turn out. Here's another link from their webpage that has more information/reaction. Edit to add second link.
  16. It seems like the show has kind of gotten back on a good track. Last "season" the show kind of seemed lethargic, but I think it was pretty much necessary for the purpose of setting all this stuff up. I'll still watch.
  17. 24 pitches Sunday... Include warmups and I'm thinking that's still less than a normal side session for a normal starter... I would imagine he's not too fatigued. Probably 90-95 pitches if he's dealing.
  18. Whew knew that Capuano's strained groin might be a blessing in disguise? Bring on Yo.
  19. Not that it really matters, but this is in the credits: Paolo Colandrea = Man in Members Only Jacket Jimmy Spadola = Man in Diner Carol Scudder = Diner Waitress Du Kelly = African American Man #1 in Diner Sharrieff Pugh = African American Man #2 in Diner Patrick Joseph Connolly = Truck Driver in Diner Patti Karr = Old Woman in Diner William Severs = Old man in Diner Adrianne Rae Rodgers = Young Woman in Diner Henry O'Neill = Young Man in Diner No mention of Nikki Leotardo in the credits. The only Leotardo mentioned in the closing credits is Patty, played by Geraldine Librandi (Phil's wife). That is all.
  20. Chase quote I stumbled on: "I don?t think art should give answers. I think art should only pose questions. And art should not fill in blanks for people, or I think that?s what?s called propaganda. I think art should only raise questions, a lot of which may be even dissonant and you don?t even know you?re being asked a question, but that it creates some kind of tension inside you." Yeah... The ending fit.
  21. No matter how this thing ended, people were going to be angry because it didn't wrap up the way they wanted it to. Chase boldly gave us the gift of speculating what happened. Folks will talk about what they think happened, but no one will know for sure. I guess this is the way to give everyone the ending they want. I liked it, and was entertained. The show began without a true start... It ended without a true finish. We got a glimpse into their lives, and now we don't get to see anymore. Yeah, this leaves the door open for a movie or something, but I don't think that'll happen. This is the end. I agree with pretty much everything that brettac1 said.
  22. As of right now, the Brewers have the best record in the NL. At worst, if the Braves win, they will share that record. It's still early, but that's awfully nice to type out.
  23. The Astros message boards are such a letdown after a very entertaining Cubs series.
  24. I thought this episode was about the funniest half hour of television I've seen in years. I actually had a headache at the end from laughing. I felt punch drunk. I'm so happy this show didn't get cancelled.
