  1. I know discussions about the Packers and football belong in the Lambeauleap forum, but really Robin19?!? I don't know how you could say that was one of the wost games ever?
  2. Are you serious? I'm pretty sure Gamel could put up a .629 OPS in the majors. Well, we won't know that until he actually does it, will we. Besides, he can't catch anyways, so maybe comparing him to Lucroy is an apples to oranges comparison. He's going to be 26 this year. Getting up there for a hitting prospect. You can blame Macha or Melvin all you want for stunting his development, but the Brewers seemed to be "all in" this off season with no prospects considered "untradeable". The fact that Gamel is still here tells me that other teams do not see much value in him. I'll admit I may be a little biased. I'm just not sold on him and I don't see him ever having a productive MLB career. Of course, if he doesn't, some will blame the Brewers organization. edit: Gamel does have a higher OPS than Lucroy, both with limited amount of MLB AB's. So, I'll take back the "Lucroy may possibly be better" comment, but again, Lucroy is a catcher.
  3. It's not that I don't believe in MiLB numbers, it's just that all else being equal, I will take a player that has already proven himself in the Majors over someone who has the "potential" to be a gool MLB player. I guess I'm just risk adverse. He was the 89th ranked prospect last year and I'm guessing he may not even be ranked this year and you are going to say that there is an argument that he is a better hitter than Hart or McGehee right now (possibly at some point in the future - possibly)? No, I would not say that Betancourt and Gomez are better. Neither of them have really proven themselves in the majors yet.
  4. Even Jim Cantore fears the rath of thundersnow!
  5. I'm not really sure that this statement is true. Are you including the MLB players? I would say that Fielder, Weeks, Braun, McGehee, Hart, and possibly Lucroy are better hitters than he is. I'm sure you'll argue otherwise, but not sure how you can do that based on 145 MLB ABs. I don't care what he has done in the minors, until he can prove himself to be a MLB ready hitter, you can't say he's a better hitter than any of those guys I mentioned. Baseball history is full of prospects that could hit in the minors but not in the majors. If he is actually the 5th best overall hitter in the Brewers organization (including the majors), I think it more of a statement about the depth of quality hitters in the organization, or lack there of, than it is a statement about Gamel's hitting prowess.
  6. Thanks for all the feedback. I realize that an employee has zero rights when it comes to privacy and use of company equipment. It's not a case where my wife is going to sue the company if they look at her emails. She is just wondering how much privacy she has with her phone. I can't imagine that there is technology that would allow her company to tap into her hotmail account that she uses over the phone and be able to read her hotmail emails. I'm just wondering if any that may work in IT is familiar with something that would allow this.

  8. Makes sense that they would be able to see just about anything you do on your computer, but I'm wondering if there is any access that would allow them to view your cell phone content or browser. Another part of this is that my wife can not access Hotmail (or many other websites) from her work computer, but does not have any browsing restrictions on her work cell phone.
  9. That's unbelievable. I voted just about every day and I saw this being supported everywhere....on all the local news broadcasts, the Brewers web site, my son's baseball league web site. It was all over the place. I can't believe it did not take one of the top two spots.
  10. My wife has a smart work that she got through work. She's also putting feelers out there for a possible other job. She's doing some of this online and through email. She knows she has to be careful about not using company technology to access job hunt sites, but she would like to have access to her "job hunt" related email during the day. She obviously does not want to use her work email account to do this. She set up a hotmail account, but is concerned that if she uses her phone to access that her work will be able to see her Hotmail emails. I told her that I didn't think that was possible. I'm thinking that they could possibly see that she visited Hotmail, but really had no way of reading her Hotmail emails. She works for a large company. Is there any technology, other than hacking into her hotmail account, that would allow her work to read her Hotmail emails?
  11. I always thought of the "After ST starts, negotiations are over, because I don't want it to be a distraction" comments ranked right up there "One game at a time" and "This city's fans are the greatest" type statements. Is it really that big of a destraction? I can see not wanting it to be a dragged out deep into the season and having it be something that is constantly in the papers, but what if they came back with something a week or two after ST started? Are you just going to refuse to even listen to it because your "deadline" has passed? I understand the arbitration date is Feb 17th, but that doesn't mean you still can't work out an extension after that date. If you are really interested in getting something done and are really content with where you are playing, who you are playing for, and the fans you are playing in front of, I would think you would have a little more flexibility in your time line. To me it just means that Weeks has absolutley no problems with becoming a FA after the season and possibly already has his mind set on it. If that's true, I wonder not only how much of that has to do with his new agent, but also with Fielder's status. I wonder how much he talks to him about the situation.
  12. Owbc, where do you locate that map on the national weather service site? Can you provide a link? I find the site to somewhat not user friendly (and it is REALLY slow today). I tried looking at the "Graphical Forecast" area, but could only find forecasts in 12 hour increments and you had to move your curser over "snow totals" to get the map to change (and the page often errored out and would not even do this).
  13. Players want guaranteed cash is why. That way if they get hurt, they still get paid. Yes, but I think one of sbrylski's points is that if Weeks gets injured this year and misses a majority of the season, all of a sudden he's not nearly as valuable and will probably not get the big bucks he is seeking in the FA market. This way he could have the best of both worlds - the security of $40million guaranteed with the opportunity to make more if he stays healthy.
  14. I think everybody would rather have Greinke and Marcum instead of Weeks. Unfortunately Greinke will likely cost a boatload of money. Think CC or Lee money as a starting point. That is not within our budget unless something pretty drastic happens with revenue sharing. Greinke, like Fielder, is not a realistic target right now. By comparison Weeks would only get half as much money even as the highest paid 2B. Uh..no, not everybody. I would rather have a combination of Greinke and Weeks or Marcum and Weeks (if it's not possible for the Brewers to sign all three). Judging from earlier comments in this thread (or possibly it was another thread?), I'm not the only one that feels this way. edit: The previous discussion about this was in the Dan Uggla thread. Starts around post 15. I think post 21 and 24 along with a few others also agree that they would like to see Weeks extended, even if that means not being able to extend Marcum.
  15. This all sounds very complicated. Bag of Doritos. A couple of Mt Dews. I'm set.
  16. Ahhh....no, I refuse to Facebook. When you made your original post regarding the 3 winners appearing to be business seatholders they had not posted Wednesdays winner yet on the Fan-tastic Forty page.
  17. I thought it was a list of "Regular Season" games. Why is the tied All-Star game on the list? Also, even though it did not effect the winner of the game, I would have to say that the Armando Gallaraga/Jim Joyce non-perfect game ending would have to get honorable mention. On a cold Saturday afternoon the day after the opener, that crowd was all fans that bled Brewer baseball. They weren't there for the ambiance or for a nice outing. I don't remember attending games on a regular basis until about 1977. However, John, I gotta agree with you that there certainly seems to be more fans that attend games now for the "ambiance".
  18. How can you tell...and how do you know who the 3rd winner is?
  19. I saw a brief segment of "Hot Stove" on the MLB network last night. I think they were talking to Rosenthal in regards to the Brewers negotiations with Weeks. Rosenthal said something like "If the Brewers can't retain Weeks beyond this year, they will have to find a replacement, but they have a good one right now in their system". Then he didn't say who he was talking about. My guess is that he was thinking of Lawrie...totally forgetting that he was traded.
  20. Here is a link to the daily winners if you are interested in following along. I'm not sure when they update it every day: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/mil/ticketing/fan40.jsp edit: I find it interesting that per the official rules the top prize in terms of cash value is the softball game at Helfare park for 20 people. It's listed at $3,500. I have coached teams that have played at Helfaer. IIRC, the field rental is about $700 for 2 teams (some of that depends on if it's a day or night game). That would leave $2,800 for food and beverage. That's $140 per person. Seems a bit high. I'm assuming the food consists mostly of tailgate type food, not fresh lobster flown in from Maine. [Edit: Fixed link - PA ]
  21. That looks about right. I remember they had a rendering of it last season in one of the free programs they hand out at games. My son and I could not believe the size of it.
  22. I realize this. However, locally, when people talk about "opening day", it's almost always assumed that they are talking about the Home opener. So, I just wanted to clarify. People don't say "I'm going to the home opener". They say "I'm going to Opening Day."
  23. Since they have an off day on the Friday following the opener, I wonder if they will skip the 5th starter, meaning Grienke would start the 2nd game of the first home series. This would also make some sense for the Brewers since the 2nd game of the opening series is generally not well attended.
  24. I wonder if Rosenthal is just reading into this from Hardricourt's Blog entry: Ash said he had a "brief conversation" with Genske over the weekend but had no feeling that a deal was near.
  25. Couldn't tell from reading that....Opening Day in Milwaukee or Opening Day in Cincy?
