  1. My 4-5 year old laptop is at it's end and I'm looking to buy a new one. After much research and looking through CR recommendations, I have pretty much narrowed it down to a Toshiba from Best Buy. I will always buy an extended warranty when I purchase a laptop, but I have heard so many bad stories about Best Buy extended service plans, that I would like to avoid purchasing any plans from them. I understand that I can purchase an extended warranty directly from Toshiba. Does anyone have any experience with buying an extended warranty directly from Toshiba or any other manufacturer?
  2. I sent in my application last week. These were my 3 choices: BRUCRU 19 HOF Hmmm...I don't remember my last one! Possibly something like Brewrs?
  3. Seriously!? http://travel.yahoo.com/p-interests-33623430
  4. However Zaun performs this year, he has the best walk up song on the team (with Counsel being a very close 2nd). So, he's got that going for him, which is nice. I was really impressed with Hawkins last night. I didn't know he could still throw that hard. If Hoffman can stay effective, that could be a real nice 1-2 punch to finish games.
  5. Yes, however, the NFL only has a national TV contract and no seperate TV deals for individual teams. Also, I believe the NFL does a lot more revenue sharing than MLB.
  6. James, I don't think anyone stated that they didn't expect drunks at opening day. I just stated that it's a reason I don't go to opening day any more (and another person stated that they are reconsidering whether or not they want to attend in the future). Not my kind of crowd. I prefer to go when there are more people that are actually interested in the game than in how many beers they can consume in a 4 hour period. Minding your own business in no way assures you that you will be able to avoiding drunks invading your personal space. Two incidents that occurred at the last opening day I was at basically made my decision never to attend another opening day again. We were in the parking lot just sitting, minding our own business, enjoying some brats and beverages and this group near us decides they want to play Frisbee. Fine. However, before long they are literally standing 2 feet in front of our chairs as they are playing catch with the Frisbee and at times the Frisbee is coming right at us. I asked them if they wouldn't mind moving and their reaction was flippant..something like "relax, it's opening day". Then during the game, I go to the concessions and there is a group of loud, obnoxious drunks behind me. Soon, they are surrounding me and trying to skip me. These are annoyances I don't need when all I am trying to do is enjoy a day at the ball park. As far as bringing kids to the game..It's not like I'm bringing my son to a bar or a Nine Inch Nails concert. It's a ball game! You act like it's no place for children. Yes, because baseball and kids should never go together.
  7. 3rd Inning... a lot of empty seats in the upper deck. Yet, didn't they state that it was the 2nd largest crowd ever at Miller Park? I was curious about that since it seemed like there were plenty of tickets available at good prices in the days leading up to the game, you could even buy them directly through the Brewers.
  8. Prince's walk up "song/noise" always makes my son and I laugh. A couple of years ago it was just the sound of a semi truck. This year, if it's the same thing he used during the exhibition game on Saturday, it sounded like a siren followed by thunder.
  9. It was similar behavior that I witnessed about 15 years ago that made be decide I was too old for Opening Day and it was time to end my streak of consecutive Opening Days that I had attended. Now I usually try to attend the 2nd game of the year...as I will be doing this year.
  10. On screen TV program menu (or whatever you call it). Laptops Overrated: Texting. Hello..it's a phone! Although, I'm sure if texting was available when I was in my 20's, I probably would have benn all over it.
  11. I saw that Braun signed the contract on the 15th as well...but was thinking that maybe the news broke a day or two earlier.
  12. I'm not sure the exact date that it was announced, but that was about the time that Braun signed his contract extention. Also, Braun was on a tear that week (he was named player of the week). He hit 2 HRs against St. Louis on May 12th. Also during the game on the 12. LaRussa and Y. Molina got tossed from the game arguing balls and strikes. Molina tool off all his equiptment and tossed them towards the umpire before he left the field. So, these items this might have caused some of the activity on the site at that time.
  13. I have only sold tickets online and I use StubHub exclusively because that's who MLB is partenered with and they make it very easy to sell tickets that I can't use. Don't have to mail anything. The buyer can just print the tickets.
  14. I was under the impression that they had to replace both spans of bridges over I-94 (not just the span that goes over the East Bound side) and that is why it was going to take them until Memorial Day. I don't know how in the world they came up with the Memorial Day date since the bridge over eastbound I-94 looked to be pretty far along even before all this happened.
  15. I think any of the County courses would fit your price contraints (other than Brown Deer). However, getting 3 or 4 back to back tee times might be an issue on a Saturday (unless maybe you go to some place like Greenfield Park). Did you try New Berlin Hills (on the other side of 124th street - across from Greenfield)? Edit: I'm doubtful that any of the county courses would block off 3 or 4 tee times in advance for you. You would most likely have to go through their phone reservation system, which is available 7 days in advance of the reservation (and you would need a county golf ID card to access this system I believe).
  16. I agree somewhat, but I will say that EPCOT has two of the best rides of all the parks, Soarin and Test Track. In fact, my 11 year old son (who does not like roller coasters at all) would have spent the entire day on Test Track if we let him. He's dying to go back to Disney, just for that ride alone.
  17. I think Ironwood golf course in Sussex is well known for hosting various golf outings and events. You may also want to try The Broadlands in North Prairie or Edgewood in Big Bend.
  18. I have been there 4 times and have never stayed at a Disney World resort. There are some perks to staying at one of the resorts, but it just never seemed woth it to me for the extra amount they charge. The last time we were there was last October. We stayed at a place called the fountains (I thought it was nice). Booked a package through Orbitz. Everything in (car, airline, hotel) it costs us a little over $1,000 for 3 of us. However, this did not include the park tickets. This is where they get you (because you really can't find "deals" on park passes). If you are there for 4 or 5 days and plan on going to a park every day, it's going to be about an extra $1,000 for 3 people. My wife and I also went there for our honeymoon (yes, that's right, Dinsney World honeymoon) 16 years ago and ended up staying in a house with our own private pool (I think they upgraded us). These are usually a little ways away (not too far...maybe 10 miles), but it's really nice. You can find them on Orbitz: http://www.orbitz.com/App/ViewPackageDetails?&retrieveParams=true&z=46be&r=hn or through this site: www.vrpcertifications.com I have also heard that www.vro.com is a good site to search for cheap vacation rentals. However, I find it a bit difficult to navigate through that site. Hope some of this helps.
  19. Couldn't you take Capitol? If the highway is slow, it's bound to be faster. When we move to Wauwatosa that's my plan if the interchanges are still all screwed up - I'll need to get to UWM.Going to and from UWM and Wauwatosa using Capitol would not be bad. I'm talking about points farther West (Waukesha, Pewaukee). There are really no alternative routes. If the freeway is backed up taking Bluemound, Capitol (which is pretty far out of the way north for me), Greenfield etc, is really not a good alternative since they tend to get busier as well and it ends up taking two or three turns of the stop light before you can get through an intersection. There have been several times where I have been in a crawl on the freeway and got off thinking that one of those alternate routes had to be better. I have always regretted it.
  20. What I mean by that is if you could sign him to a LT contract right now, why wouldn't you? Only one I can think of and it has to do with the numbers that Prince and Boras are looking for. Those numbers are only going to go higher (and farther away from the Brewers budget) if Prince stays healthy and has another All Star caliber year. While Ron Shapiro (Mauer's agent) is a great agent, he's not the ruthless money gruber like Boras. In addition, Prince did not grow up in the Milwaukee area. The writing on the wall is getting clearer and clearer.
  21. I'm assuming he was asked something along the lines of "How do you think Mauer's contract effects you're negotiations with Fielder?". A response that basically states that it's not the same situation, seems a bit defensive to me. At the very least he deflected the situation by pretending there was no correlation when in reality there is. Anyone who thinks that Boras will not use that contract along with Texiera's contract as a measuring stick for his client, is fooling themselves. How do you know Prince wants to stay? Because he said he likes in in Milwaukee? How many times to players say things like that? It ranks right up there with "We'll play one game at a time". Even if you do take Melvin's comment literally word for word. I think it's a foolish strategy on the Brewer's part to not put any urgency on the situation because they have Fielder through 2011. Every day that goes by where Fielder remains healthy and is producing on the field and that he has not signed LT with the Brewers is a step farther away from the Brewers in my opinion.
  22. Yes, I understand that was ages ago and probably something only an "old man" like me would remember. I was just pointing out that it's not like no one has ever complained about their contract. If no ever currently complains about their contract, then how are we so sure that Braun isn't at least a little upset about his contract. I like Braun, I think he's hard worker and a stand up kind of guy. To his credit, I also don't think he would ever blame the Brewers for a "bad" contract that he signed or ever complain about it openly. However, I don't think it's that far fetched to think that somewhere in the back of his mind he wonders if he could have done better with that contract. I wouldn't blame him and it wouldn't lessen my opinion of him if he did have those thoughts (As Frito pointed out in "Idiocracy" - people tend to like money). Is it a reporter's job to try to delve into the true thoughts of the player he's interviewing (regardless of what they state publicly)? I guess that's open for debate.
  23. You key one side. I'll key the other side.
  24. Well, to be fair, there have been cases where players have complained openly about their contracts. Most notably, Rickey Henderson back in the 80s.
  25. So...you can get 7 characters? Edit: Another question. I was looking at the GB licence plate application form. It give you 3 options for personalization. What happens if all 3 are taken? Do they reject the application? Do they contact you and ask for further choices? Also, can you have a personalized Brewer plate that has the same "phrase" that someone else is using on a non-brewer plate? I suppose I should just call the DOT with all these questions.
