  1. What logic leads you to believe that Macha wants Suppan back in the rotation? Given the devotion to the guy before Macha got here and how quick he was pulled from the rotation, I'd guess that Macha is the reason he's not in the rotation. To be fair, Yost managed Suppan in Years 1 & 2 of his contract. I highly doubt that the Brewer's front office (or any team's front office - other than maybe the Yankees) would allow the team manager to pull a guy that they just recently signed to a 4 year $40 million from the rotation. It's much easier to allow Macha (who, by the way, ran Suppan out there every 5th day last year) to put Suppan in the bullpen in year 4 of the contract, after Suppan has clearly shown that he does not belong in the rotation.
  2. Yeah...I thought this was pretty good too. Especially the "Sometimes we get to laughing so hard that we don't even get to the environmental stuff" and then he does the "trick" and as he's fumbling around with that his phone rings...perfect timing.
  3. I would really love to see a fellow announcer jump on there co-worker just once for saying something pretty stupid. Davey Nelson just made a comment like "Halladay's is looking good, looks like he's shutting out the Red Sox..right?" Corey responds with "Yup, Colorado" instead of "Red Sox? Huh?....a Davey, Halladay is not with Toronto any more. You should probably be aware of that if you are in the broadcast booth."
  4. This pass has been SOLD. Thanks.
  5. I thought last night's episode not only jumped a shark, but also jumped a whale. Jack cut's open the guy, reaches in and pulls out a 0.5" square sim card. Uh...yeah.
  6. I was trying to come up with some sort of Jekyl and Hyde thing like Dr. Macha and Mr. Melvin....but that just doesn't work. I like the "Team Strobe" think. I can see the T-shirts now. Team Strobe on the front. On the back - Warning: this team can cause sudden seizures for the faint of heart.
  7. Back in the late 70's, early 80's when the Brewers had a bunch of mashers on the team, they had nicknames like "Bambi's Bombers" and "Harvey's Wallbangers". Then in 1987 with the 13 game winning streak, Molitor's streak, etc, they were known as "Team Streak". Me and a guy I work with were trying to come up with possible nick names for the 2010 team. Nothing all that catchy but here are a few... "Bipolar Brewers" "Team Paradox" "Macha's Mysterious Traveling Show" I'm sure others on this board can come up with much better ideas.
  8. Heyward is 9 for 16 over his last 5 games with 4 HRs and 8 RBI's. I think like many rookies, he's going to go through peaks and valleys in his rookie year. The media's love for him may be sickening and maybe it's a bit too early to start HOF talk, but I have a feeling he's going to have a pretty decent career and my money would still be on him for ROY.
  9. Potawatomi has an OTB room, but it is very small. The OTB room could never accomidate the Derby or Breeders Cup crowd and that is why they had accomidations in the Northern Lights Theater. However, they only offered 4 machines there, when they needed about 3 or 4 times as many. Apparently they are remodeling the OTB room and making it bigger, but I understand that it will not be that much bigger. Clearly with the closing of Dairyland the crowd at Potawatomi promised to be larger than normal for this event. However, they somehow failed to foresee this and were very ill prepared for the event.
  10. Went to Potawatomi with my Dad today to bet on the ponies. We do this every year, but usually we go to the dog track. Unfortunatly the dog tracks are now all closed. Potawatomi has been advertising the Derby in the paper and on the radio for weeks. The had it on a big screen in the Northern Lights theater. It was a nightmare. They failed miserably. They had 4 betting machines set up, no tellers. The wait to make a bet was over an hour. So, you basically had to get in line 2 races before in order to ensure you got your bet in. The only thing that made this tolerable, was that I was up most of the day and capped it off with a nice win by betting $10 across on Super Saver. Very unusual since I usually do not have very good luck at the track.
  11. I think the answer to this is simple. There is probably a portion of the population that simply hates them for their name and logo.
  12. A coworker just told me that he heard on 620 that Uecker will have heart surgery. Apparently he will announce tonight and tomorrow then be out up to 12 weeks. edit: Link: http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/92205884.html
  13. That appears to have done the trick! I knew someone on this site would come through. Thanks!
  14. I'm hoping some of the smart people at Brewerfan.net can help me with this issue. I purchased a new laptop about 2 weeks ago. Other than the fact that it's faster, newer, etc. the only difference from my old one is that the new one has Windows 7 (vs Windows XP on my old one). I have been noticing that I'm having trouble opening PDF files in my browser. The browser I use is IE8. I have downloaded Firefox and I am having the same issues with that browser. Basically the browser attempts to open the file for about 3 or 4 minutes (I can not close the page while it is doing this) and then a window pops up with this message: "There is a problem with Adobe/Acrobat reader. Please exit Adobe/Acrobat reader and try again." I then realized that this is happening with PDF files on sites that I have previously opened. So, I can open the PDF once, but if I go back to the site and try to open it again I can't. I then realized that if I go into internet tools and delete my temporary files, cookies, and history I can open the file again. However, it's a pain in the butt to do this every time I want to open the same PDF. Any help would be greatly appreciated! edit: I also downloaded the latest version of Adobe (9.3) and that did not solve the issue.
  15. Because they are the ones taking the risk. They are supposed to make money. The players are getting paid millions for having God given talent. Yes, I know they work hard at their skills too, but no matter how much time most of us spent working at baseball there was no way we will ever become professional ballplayers. Sorry, can't get behind the players who make millions of dollars playing a kids game but are still worried that they are still somehow being mistreated by "greedy" owners. Put away your pride for once and thank your lucky stars for your situation in life because all you are doing is hurting the game with your misguided need to make sure that you are not being "cheated" out of your "fair share" of the pie. If players think that owners have it so good and are greedy and don't share enough of the profits, then maybe they should quit baseball and pursue ownership in a MLB club.
  16. Mike Fontenot looks like Hans Klopek from "The Burbs" http://images.yuku.com/image/gif/0db35923934d75e7fdc69d711df6c19fc36e658.gif
  17. Well...Brantley didn't really give them anything to think about (as far as sending him down)..hitting .156
  18. For a cheap traditional Milwaukee lunch (or dinner), I would suggest Real Chili on Wells (there is one downtown and one near Marquette). They have been featured a couple of times on The Food Network (and Jerry Seinfeld eats there when he comes to town for a show). Here is a review: http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=301 I eat there once a week for lunch. Edit: Also, if you can make it to Gillies Custard on 75th and Bluemound around lunch time, you might run into Bud Selig. Although, I think he only eats there on weekdays.
  19. Very early in the year, but so far.... Laporta: 40AB/0 HR/ 1 RBI/ .200 BA/ .256 OBP/ .250 SLG Brantley: 32/0/3/.156/.229/.188 Brantley was sent back down to the minors on Monday.
  20. I'm very jeolous. Wish I would have thought of this 16 years ago! Then you get bat displays and hang them on a wall at home. Very cool.
  21. I have a preferred parking pass for the Cubs/Brewers game this Friday (4/23). $8 - This is what you would pay for General parking in advance. So, if you are going to the game and do not yet have parking..why not take this? Prefer that you pick it up downtown during the day tomorrow or Friday (or possibly a park and ride along I94 between Milwaukee and Waukesha).
  22. Stop me if you've heard this....Hammer some beers and you'll feel fine. I've been waiting for a cold to strike as I've been cranking up the fan while sleeping this week. So..running a fan while your sleeping increases the chances of a cold? We always have the fan running while we are sleeping. We don't have it blowing on us, it's just for the humming noise.
  23. If you enjoyed this article, I would suggest reading the book "3 Nights in August" .
  24. Is that how it works? You can't fill the roster spot of a suspended player?
