  1. Wow, that's awesome..thanks for pointing this out! I have only read one player's reports so far, Robin Yount. Wow, were they pretty much right on, especially Cal McClish's report from 1977.... "This boy may wind up in CF and the idea appeals to him from his conversations during the '77 season"
  2. I think the whole thought that Kemp's name might be "mud" around Brewer parts is that when Braun won the MVP, there were many in L.A and other parts of the country who thought Kemp should have won it. Then, when Braun tested positive for PEDs, that sentiment grew even more with many thinking Bruan should have been stripped of his MVP (and that it should be given to Kemp). Of course any animosity towards Kemp because of the whole MVP thing would have been misguided. Kemp really had nothing to do with it and, as another poster stated, he said all the right things during that whole situation.
  3. I never understood this whole "cicadas - every 17 years stuff" http://news.yahoo.com/theyre-back-17-cicadas-swarm-georgia-york-141835694.html Seems like they run this story every other year. Also, I hear and see cicadas every year around here.
  4. I don't know that it's my "expectation". I said that it was unfortunate that he pretty much has to prove his innocence in the eyes of the public. As I stated, there are valid arguments on both sides. However, I don't agree that just because someone is found not guilty in the court of law that they are innocent without a doubt (see OJ Simpson). If they have video evidence of someone killing another person, they find the murder weapon in his/her possession with his/her finger prints on it, but this person walks because someone made an error in booking him or someone forgot to read him his Miranda rights does that make that person innocent? Unfortunately, whether you like it or not, this is how the majority of the public views the Braun situation....that he got off on a technicality.
  5. Fair enough gregmag. I guess my question to you and others who believe Braun is innocent in regards to taking PEDs would be how sure are you? Are you 100% sure? 90%? 60%? How much money would you put on it? Are you at all skeptical about this? The answer for me was that if I had to bet one way or another, I would bet on him being guilty, but I would not bet the house. In fact, probably not more than $50. I would not be willing to bet anything on his innocence, unless I got some pretty good odds. There are good arguments on both sides, but for me, there is way too much smoke not to believe that there may be a fire somewhere. I hope that's not correct. Unfortunately for Braun, if he is innocent, there is virtually no way for him to prove it. I guess if time goes by (4-6 years or more) without any further connections of Braun to PEDs I'll become more of a believer of his innocence.
  6. This ^ It's like something out of a Bizzaro world.
  7. So, I was wondering how N. Morgan was doing in Japan so I went to the home page of the team I believe he is playing for (Yokohama DeNA BayStars) and did a translation through Chrome. As you can imagine, the translation tool gave some pretty interesting results (looked like something from engrish.com). I could not find any page that looked like statistics and did not see Morgan's name anywhere. I did find a lineup for one of the games and it looked like this: Starting lineup One Yu Ishikawa Two Two Uchimura Three Left Ide Four One Blanco Five Three Osamu Nakamura Six Right Kinjo Seven Medium Matsumoto Kei Eight Catch Tsuruoka Nine Investment Well paid Should I make the assumption that Morgan is batting 9th.."Investment Well paid"?
  8. There is actually no confirmation anywhere that Braun owes him money, unless you want to go by the papers that show his name hand written with an amount next to it and assume that this represents money currently owed to Bosch. In which case you also believe all the media stories that you are also criticizing. Then what is the point? Seems that everyone is angry that ESPN has jumped to conclusions on Bruan's guilt because of the stories they have put out there. They want other points of view in the main street media (such as Will Carroll). Why? I'm assuming to help change the public perception about Braun. I can't think of another reason. So, yes, that is the point of the last two pages.
  9. I agree and this story is not one of those reasons. When I first saw this story posted in this thread, I was hopeful. Having never seen or heard Bosch speak I was even hopeful in regards to the headline of the story. Then, unfortunately, I watched the video of the interview and all hope faded. It's kind of like this for me. If I gave you these four statements... 1) The first President of the U.S.A. was Richard Nixon 2) 2+2 = 7 3) Bananas are purple 4) I got a hole-in-one while golfing yesterday Would you believe the 4th statement? It could very well be true, but if you take a strawberry and wrap it in dog crap..sorry, it's going to taste like dog crap. Somehow I feel like some of you are still able to taste the strawberry in this most recent dog crap of a story. My hat is off to your unwavering faith in Braun. I don't know if Braun is guilty or innocent when it comes to taking PEDs, but this story certainly did nothing to help me believe he is innocent.
  10. I would assume that if I told you I thought Bernie Madoff was a lying sleezeball that you would agree. Does that mean that evidence that he created at one point or another should not be held against him? I think some of you need to forget you are Brewer fans for just one minute. The original argument was that ESPN should be putting this story out there more prominently. I disagree and think, if anything, this story possibly hurts Braun's case more than helps it. Just look at the headline: Bosch says PED reports inaccurate Not nearly on the same level of seriousness, but it's bascially the same as a headline that states: Boston bomber's dad claims his son is innocent I never heard or saw Tony Bosch before this interview. Against all odds, I was hoping to see someone who exuded some sort of dignity and integrity. Unfortunately, I saw basically what I expected to see. I think most people outside of Brewer fans would watch this video and think, wow, what a lying piece of scum, I think everyone on that piece of paper is guilty.
  11. Perhaps he was telling the truth about Braun, but his mannerisms and everything he said in the rest of the interview ruined any chance of believing his statement about Braun. He never takes his sun glasses off, he rarely looked the interviewer in the eye, he calls himself a "nutritionist", he claims he never saw the papers that they show him and that MLB has never tried to contact him or his attorneys (I'm pretty positive that they have contacted his lawyers). He walks away from an interview like a guilty person would tend to do. He reaks of being untruthful. It reminded me of one of those news stories where they try to go after dead beat dads.
  12. Yes, this is exactly what I'm saying. Why is this concept so hard to understand? Did you read my original post? I guess I'll repeat it. If OJ Simpson came out today and said he killed Nicole Brown Simpson would you believe it? Would it be big news? Yes. Why? Because it's believable. He has nothing to gain by admitting his guilt. If he comes out today and restates his innocence, it's not news and it's not believable. Do you have kids? If so, did you ever ask them to give you an answer about whether or not they did something that they shouldn't have done? Do you believe them every time they say the didn't? Probably not. If they admit their guilt do you believe them? Of course you do. Why wouldn't you. Edit: Posted this after I saw your recent post brwrsfan. However, not sure we are on the same page. Not sure what some people are seeing in this latest story but I see nothing that I would consider being "in fairness to Braun".
  13. Ennder, I feel like we are having a bit of a circular argument here. As I said before, he had nothing to gain and something to lose by saying anything that was "anti-player" so he didn't. Understand that I am not stating that ESPN's original reporting of this story or them breaking the news about Braun's failed test was great journalism. There is just nothing about this current story that makes me feel any better or worse about Braun's innocence or guilt. It's a completely meaningless story. Even if ESPN put this story front and center and made a big deal out of it, I don't think it would do anything at all to change anyone's mind about Braun.
  14. No, it's not news and yes, it is irrelevant. They might as well have been interviewing Kermit the Frog.
  15. Wow, I really feel like some of you are looking at this through blue and gold colored glasses. Other than this guy coming clean and admitting to selling and distributing PEDs to athletes, there is no reason for any network to cover or expound on anything this low life has to say. He has zero credibility. Any thing nice he has to say about Braun is not a "feather in Braun's cap". It's just another way of him not admitting to selling PEDs. He wasn't "bribed" and he "didn't feel guilty about Braun's innocence"...he's just not going to say "Yeah, I sold PEDs to Braun".
  16. That isn't the point. If he had come out and said yeah I sold stuff to Braun they would be reporting it as fact. ESPN has egg on their face after the way they handled his failed test and now they are reporting with a clear anti Braun slant. They are basically spitting in the face of journalistic integrity. Well...if he said I sold the stuff to Bruan (or Arod, or whoever), then he would be admitting his guilt and it would probably be much more believable. There would be no reason not to believe it..what would he have to gain by stating that? If OJ came out and said I killed Nicole, that would be pretty believable because he has nothing to gain by saying this, but most people don't believe his claims that he didn't commit murder. It makes sense for people to possibly be skeptical of a "suspect" that does not admit to his or her guilt and to believe one who does. By the way, just about fell out of my chair laughing when this guy said "I'm a nutritionist".
  17. Why do you guys think this helps Braun or points to his innocence? Do you really believe anything that guy (Bosch) says? What a slime ball.
  18. Yeah...what the Brady Anderson is going on with John Buck and Dexter Fowler?
  19. This is a stat that can never be proven. But I do think the % of women is higher than you think. Look around you next time you go to a Brewer Game. It really isn't that far off from 50/50. Now, you may dismiss this as women/girls just going along with their SO's. That are just casual fans, etc. Well, the same can be said for a high percentage of MALES that go to games. You know, the guys behind you who have no clue about baseball? They are there to party, or came as a group outing, etc. So I'm not sure the number of female baseball fans is much lower than males. I've worked in many different office environments over the last 25 years. In just about everyone of them there was a group of males who would gather around drinking their morning coffee and discussing in detail the ups and downs, manager decisions, different plays, injuries, etc of last nights game or baseball in general. I have to say, I have yet to see a group of women do this in an office.
  20. According to recent statistics, women make up 46% of baseball fans. For you non-math majors, that’s almost half. Regardless of whether or not you believe the Fox sports girls are sexist, there is no possible way that you can believe this stat is correct. Who came up with this stat and how? By measuring the percentage of women attending baseball games? Many are there with their baseball fan boyfriends or with larger "not necessarily baseball fan" groups. Think of all the people you know that are baseball fans. I'm not talking about the "Yeah, I like baseball" people, I mean people who actually watch baseball on TV on a regular basis and can name more baseball players than just the top 2 or 3 stars on the local team. There is no way that you will ever get me to believe that 46% of all baseball fans are women. It's probably closer to 20%.
  21. Worst baseball movie - The Scout Saw this for the first time 4 or 5 months ago. I couldn't sleep one night and turned on the TV and this was on. It was like a bad car wreck that I could not turn away from. I watched it from beginning to end...I thought that it had to get better at some point..it didn't. Really a shame, because I have always been a fan of Albert Brooks. It was hard to see him in such a horrible movie.
  22. Topper thanks for bringing this up. I didn't bother looking up the rule, because I assume when Bill Schroeder states, without any hesitation, that only one foot needs to be in the box, that he knows what he is talking about. I really hope on the next telecast that he owns up to his mistake.
  23. Field of Dreams is by far my favorite baseball movie. I think some find it a bit "corny" (and I know some people just despise Kevin Costner), but the whole passing down from generation to generation, father to son thing, really hit home for me. As far as comedy goes and Bull Durham vs. Major League...I think Major League had a bigger quantity of humor, but Bull Durham's quality of humor was better imho.
  24. If any coach can help Hellweg with his control issues, I'm excited about him as well. His last couple of outings have been rough though.
  25. No snow on the ground. We still have a sizable puddle in our back yard where the water drains, but it's starting to get smaller. It's not like every place has standing water...a lot of golf courses are open (my son played in a HS match on Monday night). Now..I'm hoping this thread starts slowly sinking...never to return.
