  1. Gorman, I think they are talking about the "party police" that come around and give you "tickets" or stickers to encourage binge drinking before games. I don't think anyone in their right mind would go after the Hunger Task Force.
  2. I'm gonna have to check that book out too. Sounds interesting. I have some friends with kids that I could basically give them too, except none of them are really into baseball. I was thinking of just taking out the cards of my favorite players as a kid and giving the rest away. I wonder if I gave them to Goodwill I could use it as some sort of tax write off. Bobbleheads are basically going the same route now, so I'm losing interest. My new thing is collecting all the Milwaukee Braves cards. I've got about 50 of the 415 needed. The best part is that number will never change, and they'll fit in about 6 shoe boxes when it's all said and done.
  3. My dad used to buy me boxes of packs at Sam's club when I was a kid...I'd open em and put em in binders by teams and whatever...but I really don't want them, or need them I know they aren't worth really anything (sealed complete sets go for 15 if your lucky)... how do I find someone to take em off my hands easily? i have sealed boxes of sealed upper deck hockey packs too for some reason
  4. i got a george plaster and 50 bucks
  5. I have the Plaster. It's the only one I have, but I will listen to offers.
  6. I'd be interested in your cards as well. Feel free to inbox me. I've started a project of collecting the Milwaukee Braves, though there may be some other cards I'm interested in as well.
  7. madgrad, out of curiosity how'd ya stumble across those?
  8. Glad I didn't see it last summer I guess. It prolly woulda went to 65/70, heh. Also didn't know they gave away 4000. I always have gone to bobblebums.com for info on earlier minor league bobbles, but they didn't give a number out for how many were made available. Thanks for the info.
  9. If 500 are made then 500 are made. One can argue the number produced, or the availability. As I said in that trading thread I had never seen the Indians Rowdie pop up before. I had to get it, even with no box. Would it have been nice to come with a box? Sure. But being the first time I've seen it, and knowing it was produced in 2002 and just a mascot, who knows how many survived or when the next one will show up. I could make an argument that this bobble could be in that top tier as well. Note: Again, I don't care much about the Woodchucks bobbleheads since none of those guys played for them, and they really don't have anything to do with the Brewers. It's just a smart marketing ploy to get people to come to games. The only ones I really understand is the Gantner ones since he's a manager.
  10. I dont care about the box that much. To be honest, I think people overpay because of a box. I can go to an Admirals game next year and get one in the seats. A little bubble wrap and it's fine. Most of those early ones came in bubblewrap anyway. I've never seen it on eBay before and it's one three minor league ones that I needed to complete my set (through 2011). Spending 37 on it really wasn't that bad. I was hoping to get it for a little cheaper but someone raised the price in the last hour. Unfortunately I couldn't wait until the last minute to put in a bid because I had to leave. I was ready to go to 50.
  11. Maybe, but they can't build either of them near Miller Park for obvious reasons. Put them up downtown. I'd love to see a statue of Spahn with his huge leg kick preserved somewhere. The best spot could be Old World 3rd near the rest of the Wisconsin walk of fame outside the Cell or something.
  12. I think that as soon as some business group decides they want to donate a statue, there will be a statue. I'd asssume the same holds true for Fingers.
  13. How many are out there? I've seen it around, though I never look into it because the Woodchucks aren't a Brewers affiliate. I'd say the IceMan bobble has replaced the Attanasio or Bill Hall Track Suit because those actually pop up on eBay once in awhile. I'm yet to see an Iceman show up (though I haven't looked hard since it first came out).
  14. I really wish I could remember the name but there was a pretty good burger place we went to a few summers ago. It was within blocks of the Art Museum Central Park, and Times Square. They had a line out the door, but the wait was well worth it. The reason we went there was cuz it was featured on travel channel or food network. I'll try to look into this and get back to you, unless someone else knows what.
  15. also, that Jenkins is one of my favorites, I had two of them at one point. Someone on here sold their Stockton Ports set on eBay and I got all 3 of them for around 55 (if I remember right)...flipped the Jenkins somewhere down the line for 45, not bad for a days work!
  16. Won the Indianapolis Rowdie tonight...no one was gonna beat me on that....one of 3 minor league bobbles I needed previos to this year....the others being Uecker and the Braun alternate, Braun is available regularly, and Uecker pops up every couple months.... pretty stoked on it since i have NEVER seen it on eBay since I started collecting the minor league ones four or five years ago
  17. I'm kinda over it...if one shows up in my price range, i'll get it...but I think it's incredibly stupid to do make things "rare" when the only people that actually profit off it are the people selling it on ebay...the Rattlers woulda done relatively the same without the limited bobble as they woulda with it at the brewers on deck when i asked the guy if he's heard any complaints from people saying they have to get all 5 he said "no, actually the fans are pretty excited about it"....either those fans are new to collecting, or they're idiots...this is the kinda garbage that ruins collecting for me...kinda how when comic books started having multiple different covers...thats when I ended collecting those.....in the long run majority end up being worth 10-20...not worth the effort for something worth so minimal in the grand scheme of things...the paper makers will be worth more, but whatever, none of those represent a player anyway
  18. still looking for one, if anyone can give me a hand...
  19. We're gonna be spending the first night of our honeymoon at the ballpark. I can't wait. I've driven by Kaufman a handful of times, but never stopped there. We're looking forward to the BBQ, but probably can't do much else, as we'll be on a mission to take Route 66 to the end on a kinda limited schedule.
  20. just looking into my crystal ball, It's looking like the Brewers would be either 0-50 or 1-49.
  21. too bad you sold all those bobbles...we coulda been onto something
  22. hoops, just gently break off one from another one and glue it on...you might wanna heat it up somehow first, hairdryer or something
  23. also, the appleton foxes (red) is easily the best of the group.
  24. yah, i'm gonna be looking for possibly all 5....a group of people i know went up, and none of them believed me when i said they would let you go in and out, so they either got me 4 of them, or someone in that group was willing to sell theirs.... kinda bummed, on the plus side i got rickie weeks autograph 4 times tonight, on both snappers bobbles and the huntsville one...also on an old jersey that i plan to do something with...
  25. Two that I went with for a long time were: Al Kaline Trio Walker, Texas Leaguer
