  1. average value of a baseball franchise is about 2 billion I believe So 36 million average per year on a 2 million dollar investment.......not exactly huge money. Obviously the real value of owning one is in the reselling.....not the operating income.
  2. Because in the NBA or NFL if you don’t win it isn’t because you can’t afford to keep your own players……in fact they have certain rules built in that makes it easier to do so……franchise tag….restricted free agency for draft picks….and in the NBA a max salary structure. As a fan of a team that will never have the resources of New York or LA…..I would love if everybody had to operate under the same salary structure. Sadly that isn’t the case and likely won’t be for the foreseeable future.
  3. Joe Gray Jr thinks Wiemer is the best prospect in the organization
  4. Of all the taxes that I pay this one bothered me the least. A few pennies here and there to have a beautiful stadium and Major League Baseball…….no problem with it at all.
  5. For those with access………Rosenthal explains why they aren’t close. https://theathletic.com/3103051/2022/01/31/with-spring-training-likely-to-be-delayed-heres-why-mlb-and-the-players-union-are-still-far-apart/?source=user_shared_article

  9. Will Sammon @WillSammon · 4m Brewers coaching news: Jim Henderson is bullpen coach, Matt Erickson is infield/assistant hitting coach. Henderson comes from Triple-A Nashville to replace Steve Karsay, who left to spend more time with family, per club. Erickson spent last 11 years as Class-A Wisconsin manager Will Sammon @WillSammon · 3m Brewers also announced Daniel Vega as assistant strength and conditioning specialist. Vega, who came from Cardinals organization, replaces Jason Meredith, who became the organization’s rehabilitation strength and conditioning coach in Arizona.
  10. Ray Montgomery has a new job.........don't see this kind of move too often......although we did do it with CC. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/01/angels-to-hire-ray-montgomery-as-bench-coach.html
  11. Lindblom was under contract……which will usually give players multiple chances before teams give up on them. So after the Brewers finally gave up on Lindblom …..DFA and then he accepted demotion to Nashville…..he did not get recalled even though he had success in AAA. It’s clear that success at the major league level is about more then just promoting guys who do well in AAA. Right or wrong they don’t believe in his stuff ……or at least haven’t up until now.
  12. "Small is simply not that type of pitcher. His stuff is better and more effective as a starter. Also, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if Hader is traded this organization is hopeless. He, objectively, has had the greatest start to a career for a reliever ever. So, in my opinion, he shouldn’t need replacing until the day he is no longer effective or retires. Either way I hope Small is fully established in a different role at that point in time" Agree with you on Small......and you are right that Hader has had arguably the greatest start to a career ever for a reliever. However the truth is that we will not be able to keep him until he "retires or is no longer effective"......the economics of baseball for teams like the Brewers and most others means you can't keep everybody.....he will want to be the highest paid relief pitcher....he has earned it.......that will in all likelihood means we either trade him at some point or let him walk like Fielder did. We don't have to like it....but it is the reality of the situation.
  13. Not sure why people started to include Hicks in the discussion……the article only mentions Cain as possible insurance for Hicks from the Yankees perspective……the discussion was that the Brewers inquired about Voit ….nothing about Hicks in the deal. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/12/brewers-have-had-previous-interest-in-luke-voit.html
  14. Luke Voit mentioned https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/12/brewers-have-had-previous-interest-in-luke-voit.html
  15. Brewers Player Development @BrewersPD · 4m RHP Arnaldo Hernandez and 1B Jonathan Singleton have been signed to minor league contracts.
  16. Nottingham to Orioles https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/12/orioles-sign-jacob-nottingham-to-minor-league-deal.html
  17. Cruz to Giants Sources: Jacob Cruz, former Pirates and Brewers assistant hitting coach, has joined the San Francisco Giants as assistant hitting coordinator. edit - for those not wanting to click the link just to figure out what it is about.
  18. They needed a right handed power bat badly after losing Garcia.
  19. Totally agree........unfortunately without a cap or even more widespread revenue sharing don't see it happening.
