  1. "The analytics revolution has (despite a lot of cool things) instantiated a system where the whole, explicit goal is to pay as little as possible for the most production." Every business wants to pay as little as possible for the most production.......or in the case of a consumer the lowest price for the best product. There is nothing wrong with that......Look at the money that Scherzer just got.....and Stroman.....and Baez......the market will still be the market....some players will cash in huge others will struggle to find good options. It's funny....when players become Owners......they think and act like owners......Michael Jordan, Derek Jeter...etc. Both sides were involved in the last collective bargaining agreement.........and now will call each other names, fight and eventually hammer out another agreement......I understand both sides of it. It's just business.
  2. From Will Sammon A few American League executives quickly polled for thoughts on the deal gave the edge to the Brewers, in part, because they weren’t overly excited about the prospects. In talking with scouts and coaches before this trade, however, I mostly heard good things about Binelas, a power-hitting corner infielder, and Hamilton, a speedy shortstop who has a knack for getting on base. On Binelas, one source said, “He has plus-power, but there’s a lot of work to do defensively.
  3. I’m sure he will be mostly an everyday guy……doubt they will be acquiring anyone else unless they move Taylor in the process
  4. Hunter Renfroe to Milwaukee in exchange for Jackie Bradley Jr. and two prospects: infielders David Hamilton and Alex Binelas.
  5. Rich Hill has signed a 1-year, $5 million deal with his hometown #RedSox, source confirms @Ken_Rosenthal report. Deal includes up to $3 million in incentives. @MLB @MLBNetwork
  6. Stroman can make 50 million in 2 years and then opt out if he so chooses
  7. One-year $10 million deal. Pricey! https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/12/phillies-to-sign-corey-knebel.html I would have liked to seen Knebel back in a Brewer uniform, but yeah $10 million is a lot. I think Brewers interest would have been in the 6-7 million range. Philly could be in sell mode by the deadline, so maybe we can revisit this in July. Brewers weren’t going to put another 7 million into the bullpen…..especially with Hader and Williams already locking down the 8th and 9th. I like Corey but Brewers just don’t pay set up guys that kind of money…….especially when we have so many arbitration eligible guys this season and an offense that needs upgrades.
  8. Looks like Taylor will be returning to,the Dodgers
  9. Raisel Iglesias and #Angels in agreement on 4-year, $58 million deal, source confirms. Credit to @Ken_Rosenthal and @JeffPassan for being first with the reports. @MLBNetwork @MLB
  10. I’m sure we would all prefer Cruz but don’t see much chance that we sign him.
  11. Just a reminder……..Baez supposedly turned down 180 million offer from the Cubs
  12. Lots of work to do to avoid a bunch of hearings The #Brewers have tendered contracts to SS Willy Adames, RHP Corbin Burnes, LHP Josh Hader, RHP Adrian Houser, LHP Eric Lauer, C Omar Narváez, LHP Brent Suter and INF Luis Urías.
  13. The #Brewers have non-tendered 1B Daniel Vogelbach and RHP John Curtiss. Per the Brewers
  14. Rowdy is back 1.94 million
  15. Lewis Brinson DFA
  16. Details on Gustave
  17. Cubs getting Frazier https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/11/cubs-nearing-agreement-with-clint-frazier.html
  18. The reason why he is getting that extra money is because he and the Nationals agreed to defer some of his earnings………everyone knew this would be happening. Brewers have done this with players as well and my guess is it’s driven more by the clubs then the players.
  19. Corey Seager to Rangers 10 years 325 million I do find it sad for the sport that so many teams have no chance of competing for the best free agents. Not the case in football or basketball.
