  1. It's not a given that a team won't try to stop you, you still have to run. There's risk on the runner's part. If you try to walk to the next base, they'll tag you out no problem.
  2. I want "Defensive Indifference" done away with in the next CBA. You steal a base, you steal a base. It shouldn't be too subjective.
  3. Perrin threw 124 134 innings between college and pro ball last year. He doesn't often get into short start/high pitch count situations, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him pushed past 150 160 innings this year. Edit: If I could only add...
  4. Gideon is only 21, relatively young for a 4-year college signee, so at least he's not a 23 or 24 year old dude mashing Pioneer League pitching. Same story with Wes Wilson.
  5. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/michael-mckenry-trade-brewers-braves.html I'm surprised he had any options left? Edit: He wasn't on the Braves' 40-man roster. I'm sure MLBTR will correct their story soon. No word yet on any corresponding roster moves.
  6. Mike Misuraca "Loves Company" - thanks, Uke. Also, no Brownswell Patrick reference?
  7. What if you drive in a run with a hit directly before you get caught stealing?
  8. I personally can't wait to see Gomez round third and score the winning run for the Cards, only to untuck his shirt nanoseconds too soon and get beaned in the crotch by Skip Schumaker's Ryan Braun shirsey and Chris Carpenter's vial of his children's tears.
  9. Rochester, MN has the Mayo Clinic, the ground being excavated for the Mayo expansion, a few brewpubs to get people to move to the city to work at the newly expanded clinic... and not much else. Actually, I'm sure the city government would be interested in building a baseball stadium. That city desperately needs young people.
  10. Zack Brown with another good outing under his belt. Less refined that Burnes coming into the draft, he has at the very least matched Corbin so far in Wisconsin. There seemed to be about as much Twitter love for the Brown pick as there was the Burnes pick on draft day - think it'll be interesting to continue to evaluate the pair side by side.
  11. Bubba Derby with his first good start in almost 2 months. And here's a shocker: the Manatees are losing 1-0.
  12. @friendpresto is Preston Gainey, who will be making his AA debut. He had been out most of the first half of the season with a back injury. Wang to the Sky Sox means three LHPs in the rotation there. Notable because the last time the Brewers had a left handed pitcher start a game was August 28, 2013 (Tom Gorzelanny).
  13. Mass Haas will start a different thread for this soon, yes. Please save discussion in this thread for the free agents.
  14. Quick copy and paste job by me - apologies if I screwed any links up.
  15. I'm going to switch my vote from David Garcia to Mike Matuella, with Michael DeLeon as a backup in case Matuella is injured beyond what the Brewers are comfortable with. DeLeon is 19, a SS, a switch hitter, and playing advanced-A ball. Seems to be four pro-Stearnsian ticks.
  16. Game #109, in which Gennett hits cleanup and no one bats an eye.
  17. Burnes is being limited due to his college workload before he signed. He'll be stretched out as a regular starter next year.
  18. Brevard and Helena postponed. Edit: Apparently the MiLB app meant "delayed" when it said "postponed".
  19. The Carolina League would be ideal, but that being the case makes it hard to get into. It's also the smallest of the three advanced-A leagues.
  20. 20 of the current top 30 MLB.com prospects for the Brewers are below AA, as are five of the top 10, and the Brewers will be drafting high again next year. Mass Haas has a very reasonable point.
  21. Pro debut for Blake Lillis in Arizona tonight.
  22. Initial reaction: http://www.wrestlinginc.com/wi/images/pics/erick-rowan-f.jpg
  23. Among the players the Brewers who will need to be protected from this winter's Rule 5 draft are: Lewis Brinson Josh Hader Brett Phillips Tyrone Taylor Garrett Cooper Nate Orf Kyle Wren Angel Ortega Javier Betancourt Wei-Chung Wang Angel Ventura Victor Roache Miguez Diaz Taylor Williams They obviously won't put all of these guys on the 40-man roster, maybe just the top three, but roster management is going to become a very important issue for the Brewers in the coming years. There simply won't be room for the Andy Wilkins and Jake Elmores of the word. Which is a good thing.
  24. Being discussed here: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=34430
  25. Let's concentrate on posting lists in this thread, please - plenty of other space to debate prospects.
