  1. And that's why you don't wait to trade Lucroy.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/08/dodgers-acquire-josh-reddick-rich-hill.html The Dodgers make a pre-emptive move to trade for a pitcher while he is injured, none of that waiting for them to be injured nonsense.
  3. "I don't agree with you so I am just going to say you agree with me." Mind = blown.
  4. No, it's not. I'm not going to get into a Nottingham debate here, but go read some scouting reports. He's far from a "never was" at the position, no matter how many times you say it. Which is a lot. Every day. Multiple times. Sometimes even going for a Gary Carter strawman. If the Brewers trade for a catcher, it is because Stearns likes up the middle guys, just like splitter said. It says nothing about Nottingham. Actually it is why Stearns traded for Nottingham in the first place.
  5. Catcher was not the priority target. The Brewers (reportedly) asked for one of Zimmer/Frazier/Mejia. Two of those three guys are not catchers. The two teams agreed on Mejia. And none of it probably had anything to do with Nottingham - not sure why you love bagging on him so much.
  6. Gattis is not the kind of player Stearns is after. I would be shocked if the Astros traded him, and especially shocked if it was to the Brewers.
  7. Kind of wonder if the Brewers are seeing if they can flip Gallo to someone else, if the Rangers aren't willing to give up a package of multiple younger guys.
  8. T-6.5 hours until the deadline. Bit surprised that Torres is still on the team.
  9. That's probably true, though I would add that when one part of your body is not functioning correctly, others try to compensate. I worry that his arm, which had a heavy workload the past few years, is doing the compensating. That's not a good thing for a pitcher. And a 90 mph fastball is a 90 mph fastball no matter the reason. He's just not the same pitcher he was the past few years.
  10. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/07/mariners-trade-wade-miley-orioles.html Miley had an ERA near 5 for the Mariners, and somewhat surprisngly the return wasn't a ton, in the form of LHP Ariel Miranda, whom the Orioles signed last May out of Cuba. He did not crack the Orioles' unimpressive top 30 prospects as per MLB.com.
  11. To the best of my knowledge, yes.
  12. Note about Mendez, his career high for IP prior to this year was last year, when he pitched 66 1/3 innings. He's currently at 84 2/3 this year, so he might be shut down after a few more starts. He had some elbow issues in 2012 and 2014 that caused this limitation by the Rangers. He might not be ready for a full season of pitching for 2-3 more years. Ortiz has similar injury-related innings issues.
  13. There weren't any other players with an 80 power tool in BA's top 100 this year. There were only seven players with an 80 anything tool.
  14. Have to think Lucroy+Jeffress+Guerra=7 or 8 guys coming back, including Gallo and Mendez.
  15. If only he had asked for Trevor Bauer from the Indians.
  16. Haven't heard a peep about Boston in awhile.
  17. Smith's FB sitting at just 90 MPH in this afternoon's game. I am increasingly dubious about his arm health and therefore his trade value.
  18. Many of the Rangers' better prospects going into the year have struggled so far. Brinson, Tate, Beras, Yrizarri, Matuella. I'd be thrilled if they could get Mendez, Tavares, and Jurado for Lucroy.
  19. My wife is a huge Twins fan and still calls Luc "Jonathan LeCroy" to annoy me. And it works.
  20. He had a .400 OBP coming into the game. I think he's been a pleasant surprise so far.
  21. Conversations have been ongoing since the winter meetings... teams pretty much know how others value their players by now. If either side has a strong will to get it done, it'll get done.
  22. Here's a fun game: which Brewer will be the centerpiece of Trade Deadline Debacle 2017?
  23. Part of me wants it to be Sheffield just to screw with Gary.
