  1. It's gonna be either Seth Lintz or Greg Miller starting tonight for the Baby Brewers.
  2. Games of interest, centrally timed, playoff odds in parenthesis: 6:05 - Mets (66.3%) @ Pirates (0.0%) - M. Pelfry (10-8, 4.11) vs. J. Davis (1-1, 1.38) 6:10 - Cubs (98.8%) @ Marlins (6.3%) - C. Zambrano (12-5, 3.22) vs. J. Johnson (3-0, 3.19) 6:10 - Cardinals (14.3%) @ Reds (0.0%) - B. Thompson (4-2, 4.34) vs. B. Arroyo (10-9, 5.44) 7:05 - Diamondbacks (48.7%) @ Astros (0.4%) - B. 3. Right around 20% for me, too. Sometimes more for great service. Easy math and good karma... everyone wins!
  4. The only way we could block him would be to make some sort of deal with a team that has a waiver claim before St. Louis, like "Here, take Sam Narron if you claim Fuentes."
  5. I think Netflix has done a great job in the past. I also think that service is waning. Also, don't follow this stock tip if you don't want to... I personally don't even short stocks. Just an opinion. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Brent Brewer with another good game and holy crap, free Rob Wooten!
  7. The Macs thing was kind of an aside, and has to do with them not being able to agree over DRM stuff. But, it's still an issue. Eliminating a customer segment is never a good thing. Basically, Netflix is trying to shift its business from movie home delivery to serving movies on the internet. They have shown they're not terribly awesome at doing the former, which gives me little confidence they'll be able to do the latter. The one thing that might save them simply is branding, but that might just become useful when someone buys them. "Remember those guys who used to send you stuff in the mail - now they send you stuff on the interwebs. Only it's not them, it's us."
  8. I've been with Netflix for about 3-4 years now, and the company has gone noticeably downhill. It used to be a place you could get all the non-mainstream stuff, but their inventory of that stuff is dwindling due to DVD wear, and they aren't doing a good job of replacing that. That's my subjective take on it. Objectively: Discs have a relatively short time horizon for being the dominant media... much sooner than later, most things will become downloadable on fast internet connections. There will still be a niche market for people behind the internet speed curve, but it's strictly a non-growth thing. While Netflix has an on-demand viewing service, it has relatively few titles on a fairly unreliable network, and doesn't even support Macs. They have a long way to go to move the basis of their business model past disc delivery service, and I don't think they're going to do it at all. The only way they'll survive is to be absorbed, and no one will buy them at their current stock value. Also, the shipping outage they are currently experience is their second major business stoppage in about a year. That doesn't happen to good companies.
  9. Short Netflix stock. That company is gonna go down in a heap.
  10. Adrian Rosario looks to get the start for the Baby Brewers. Nick Bucci and Damon Krestalude figure to get work as well.
  11. Elimination numbers, the opposite of magic numbers.
  12. Games of interest, centrally timed, playoff odds in parenthesis: 1:05 - Giants (0.0%) @ Astros (0.3%) - K. Correia (2-6, 5.21) vs. B. Moehler (8-4, 3.83) 2:05 - Diamondbacks (49.4%) @ Rockies (0.7%) - D. Haren (12-6, 3.00) vs. G. Rusch (5-2, 5.22) 6:00 - Cubs (98.5%) @ Braves (0.6%) - T. Lilly (11-6, 4.26) vs. T. Glavine (2-3, 4.85) 6:10 - Mets (58.4%) @ Nationals (0.0%) - O. Perez (8-7, 3.90) vs. C. Balester (2-4, 4.66) 6:10 - Cardinals (10.2%) @ Marlins (8.1%) - T. Wellemeyer (9-4, 4.01) vs. S. Olsen (6-7, 4.04) 9:10 - Phillies (35.7%) @ Dodgers (50.1%) - B. Myers (5-9, 5.05) vs. H. Kuroda (6-8, 4.02)
  13. It is completely necessary to use two unbleached filters to make each pot of coffee. Two filters. Unbleached. Yummy coffee.

  15. This seems to be a common misconception. Granted it's only 235 major league AB's, but Gwynn's OBP in Milwaukee is .305. In the minors, it's been a more respectable .341, but for a guy with no power, that's not good either. His OBP in 305 AAA AB's this year is .329. And he's not even that fast.
  16. Games in interest, centrally timed, playoff odds in parenthesis: 12:10 - Cubs (97.5%) @ Braves (1.4%) - J. Marquis (7-7, 4.73) vs. C. Morton (3-5, 5.70) 6:10 - Mets (49.4%) @ Nationals (0.0%) - J. Maine (9-7, 4.13) vs. J. Bergmann (2-8, 4.13) 6:10 - Cardinals (9.8%) @ Marlins (11.1%) - B. Loopers (10-9, 4.20) vs. R. Nolasco (11-7, 3.92) 6:15 - Cubs (97.5%) @ Braves (1.4%) - R. Harden (6-2, 2.27) vs. J. Campillo (7-4, 2.83) 7:05 - Giants (0.0%) @ Astros (0.3%) - B. Zito (6-14, 5.55) vs. R. Wolf (7-10, 4.67) 8:05 - Diamondbacks (57.9%) @ Rockies (0.5%) - D. Davis (4-7, 4.75) vs. J. Francis (3-8, 5.81) 9:10 - Phillies (42.1%) @ Dodgers (41.9%) - J. Blanton (6-12, 4.71) vs. B. Penny (6-9, 5.66)
  17. Jake "No Eggs" Odorizzi is due for a start with the Baby Brewers. Stosh Wawrzasek and Kristian Bueno also on schedule to get some work.

  20. The Ryan Braun Injury thread says a few more days.
  21. It's Luis Guerrero's turn to start for the Baby Brewers, though recently demoted Rolando Pascual could get the nod too.
  22. ...in more than 4 times as many chances. And I'm pretty sure you know fielding percentage isn't a great argument, but if you're playing that game Branyan has a better one. Maybe you're "remembering" more errors for Branyan, though. Edit: You know what? If you want a soon-to-be 38 year old, bunt charging, weak armed dude with a 628 OPS playing third base over a not half-bad defensively 32 year old with 928 OPS, God bless.
