  1. A lot of people point to Braun's errant throws to first base as his primary defensive shortcoming, but his biggest problem was his extreme lack of range. He barely got to anything... I don't know if it was discomfort at the position, bad instincts or what. Gamel has a similar problem with errant throws, but gets to the stuff he should. If he can fix his footwork/throwing problem in the minors, he should be an adequate third baseman.
  2. I have two types of recurring dreams: -The academia dream most other people seem to have. Forgetting that I signed up for a class, late for a test, etc. -That the world is about to end and I can't decide what to do.
  3. Sure, why not?
  4. Huntsville... absurd. Gamel and LaPorta still keeping their OPSes over 1100, Salome off to a great start, Mike Bell doing all he can to get more people talking about him and that can't even find regular playing time for Freddy Parejo, who is hitting .373. And etc., etc., etc.
  5. As a person who appreciates music, even top 40 hits... Rock Band is the worst thing ever created. My friends are I guess sub-par at it and about a dozen songs have been ruined for me.
  6. <----- Nothing at the moment. Accounting degree, going back to school in the fall for a music production/music business BS. Used to be an assistant movie theater manager. If anyone wants to hire me*, I was recruited by MIT out of HS and out of my senior year of college! *I hate business, so you may not want to.
  7. I have never hit anything with car before outside of insects. No accidents, no dead cats, no live possums, no nothing. So today, over the course of about 2 hours, I hit 2 birds (or rather, they hit me). Both square in the windshield. The first one appeared to be some sort of finch or sparrow. I'm pretty sure about this because 90% of it bounced off the car, 10% didn't. Later on I hit something else... I'm not sure if it was a bird or a bat (it was around 6 pm). There was just a loud thud, though not a whole lot of debris on the windshield. What the heck?
  8. Melvin: McClung May Get A Start You know, after getting home from a long day of whatsis, I do not want to have one of the first things I read on the internet make me throw up. Blast you, Doug Melvin.
  9. Free Jeff Weaver, Chris Narveson, Mark DiFelice, Russell Branyan and Brad Nelson. Say good-bye to Villanueva, Parra, Bush, Gwynn and Weeks. This is the key to not losing in the same repetitive manner. At least we might find new ways to lose... or win?
  10. OOTP 8 is miles ahead of the crapfest known as OOTP 7. If you were offered a free download of OOTP 7, it wouldn't be worth your time just to delete it as soon as you got it. To me, OOTP 8 is more or less on par with OOTP 6.5, though it kind of depends where you're coming from. If you've been playing since at least 6.5 (I've had the game since OOTP 2, woot) you're more than likely going to prefer 6.5 to 8. But if your first OOTP was 7 or 8, it might be weird to go back to the old-school feel of 6.5. The functionality and depth of 8 is superior to 6.5, but IMO 6.5 provides the better and "funner" game play. It's sort of like Super Mario 3 vs. Super Mario 1 that way. I checked a few weeks ago and OOTP 9 is being delayed until late May because they cut ties with Sega/SI and had to rebuild the program with 2 guys. I got a pre-sale offer in my email a little bit ago, so it can't be too far away.
  11. You never quite know what will happen with prospects, or any baseball player really given the variance in year-to-year performance, but Gamel sure looks blocked, doesn't he? He's no better than Ryan Braun was defensively, so putting him at third would annihilate most of the value he would bring with the bat. No offense to Mr. Badler, but IMO that's incorrect. I wouldn't put him in the bigs right now with his glove but if the Brewers stay patient with him in the minors, his defensive work will be much better than Braun's. Which wouldn't be all that difficult to do anyway.
  12. Steffan Wilson has been swinging some good wood ever since a terrible first two or so weeks.
  13. Do you know anything about the stuff he has? Is he just a junkballer that's fooling AAA batters? I seem to remember that he throws a cutter and a change-up off of a high 80's/low 90's fastball with excellent control. But I could be wrong about the offspeed stuff.
  14. What would be considered a "run of the mill" GPA? Like, for instance, a 750-800 OPS.
  15. What would be considered a "run of the mill" GPA? Like, for instance, a 750-800 OPS.
  16. Playoffs here we come, baby! I'm willing to give the team until the end of May or early June to shake itself out of its funk.
  17. He's averaging 19.8 pitches per inning. That's a lot. While his overall pitches have been limited he's making a lot in a concentrated amount of time... I'd much rather see him average 100 pitches per start over 5.2 or 6 IP per game than 91.5 pitches over 4.2 IP per game.
  18. Almost all of the Stars have their photos up on their milb.com player profiles and for some reason the photographer had them all facing to their right when the pictures were taken. The results are awkward. For instance, Robert Hinton pondering what went wrong at the Mexican buffet the previous evening. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_447764.jpg Or Matt LaPorta, in the middle of his ten count on Joe Davis Stadium Hide-and-go-seek Day. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/images/players/mugshot/ph_453181.jpg
  19. IIRC, it was a "drive your SUV safely" website.
