  1. Final: Huntsville 12, Chattanooga 3 Stars step it into overdrive the final three innings, overcoming a 1-0 defecit in the 7th inning to go on to score the next 12 runs of the game in the 7th, 8th and 9th. Acuna and Palmisano lead the way with two hits, with Palmisano and Chavez both getting on base three times. Four Stars had two runs scored. As mentioned earlier, Gallardo (in what could potentialy be his last outing of the year) dominate through six. Series goes to Huntsville with the Stars up 2-0. 2. Milwaukee Brewers catcher Damian Miller left the game due to an injured head. Milwaukee Brewers fans leave the season due to an injured head. Am I the only one under the impression that Jose Capellan isn't any good?? He's actually been pretty good for the most part.
  3. Should mention that the Stars have held Chattanooga firstbaseman Joey Votto hitless on the series, quite an accomplishment considering the season he's had.
  4. The Stars are up 4-1 through 7 innings after some top o' the seventh magic. Yo Gallardo with a ho-hum, 6 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 10 K outing. Phelps first on in relief, more to follow. The Sounds are down 4-0 in the bottom of the 5th, Eveland already pulled. Hate to say it, but I don't think the Sounds are going to win this series.
  5. This link will be included in each daily report when the Nashville Sounds and/or Huntsville Stars are scheduled to play. Normally it is updated an hour or two prior to gametime: Nashville Media Notes (Adobe .pdf format): www.nashvillesounds.com/pdf/notes.pdf Following Nashville's lead, Huntsville now makes its media notes available as well, nice: www.huntsvillestars.com/i...eNotes.pdf NOTE: Huntsville notes haven't been updated as of this post since 8/24...
  6. Follow Friday's action as it happens: Here's what you do, right click on each of the links below and choose "Open in New Window". Open the Nashville Gameday. For the others, choose "Log". While you're listening to your minor league game of choice (or watching/listening to the big league Crew when they are playing), simply refresh your game log browsers every so often. 9. The Hawaii Winter Baseball League has posted its Manager/Coach assignments for the upcoming season, and WV Power hitting coach Mike Lum, who guided the Power batters to a banner year will serve as the North Shore Honu (it's a sea turtle) bench coach/hitting coach. I can only assume Mssrs. Cain, Ford, Hinton and Thatcher will be part of the Honu squad, and good for them, getting to go to Hawaii in October. I'd also have to imagine Lum is up for a promotion to at least Brevard next year, so he's coaching for-serious in Hawaii.
  10. Joe Valentine was in Round Rock's bullpen earlier this year, just noticed that. Ah, what a small world. Mercedes did pretty well after getting rocked early... stayed in the game, and got the ERA back under 5. He'll be in A-ball next year, no doubt. Congrats to Huntsville, and my apologies to Nashville. I tuned into the Sounds game just as Stetter was being relieved. Zumwalt came in, gave up the hit to House, and that was it for me.
  11. Muse - Origin Of Symmetry I had heard both a lot of good things and a lot of bad things about Muse before I had really listened to them for the first time. For the good, they are allegedly a great live band, and a band with a lot of spacial, bombastic music. On the negative, they are a derivative, Radiohead clone with little to offer on an album format. I have to agree with the latter. Frontman Matthew Bellamy is a Thom Yorke clone ad nauseum, and although the music is OK, the lyircs are over-wrought when you can understand them, and not passable when you can't. There are a few pretty decent tracks on the album, mostly in the first half, but the album is weary with overanticipation of a message, none of which is delivered. Conisdering how good this album should have been, a very dissapointing album. I'll give it 2/5 stars for basically the first three tracks and the last one.
  12. Zach Clem has a really good second half of the season after being pitiful in the first half. He'll be in wherever our low-A-ball team is next year.

  14. Huntsville's Jeff Eure and Birmingham's Michael Meyers both going for the every-position-in-a-game feat. I don't think I've ever seen two players on opposing teams do that in the same game. Kind of neat. Mike Jones with 4 hitless, scoreless innings for the Stars, who are up 1-0 in the late innings.

  16. What's new? I'm just going to stop checking up on games... Inman gives up a couple of jacks in the 4th. I hope he goes 7.1 innings, but I'm sticking around to see if he does, or if Nashville wins their division. I have been horrible luck to these teams lately.

  18. Garrison's pitching for West Virginia today Actually, as it turns out, Will Inman is starting for West Virginia today, and has been efficient through 2 scoreless - he may be zoning in on getting those 7+ innings.

  20. Please contribute your new album purchases to this thread. I've wanted to start a thread for quick reviews of albums you've just bought for quite some time, and as I have nothing better to do for the next few minutes, here goes: Portishead - "Roseland NYC Live" I'm kind of ashamed to admit I didn't own this album previously. Portishead's first release, Dummy, is one of my very favorite albums. However, their self-titled second release didn't hit the spot for me when it came out, and I put buying the live album on the back burner about 7 years ago. I finally got around to buying it today (partially due to the news about the forthcoming Portishead album), and boy, was I missing out. Six of the 11 songs are from their second album, and though that disc is still vastly inferior to me compared to Dummy, the symphony orchestra really enlivens the tracks. The opener "Humming" is vibrant and alive and uses the string section the best of all the songs. My favorites were still the Dummy tracks, but the whole thing is a mellow dream. . I'd give it 4 out 5 stars. Brian Eno - "Here Come the Warm Jets (Remaster)" I generally have great bile for glam rock - Hedwig and the Angry Inch is one of my most-hated movies of all time - but Brian Eno transcends glam due to his exceptional production chops. And his work isn't even really proper glam rock - the work on his early pop albums sounds closer in terms of production value to that of a more focused and song-driven Can than to David Bowie of the same era. Eno really made his mark with the Ambient series, and as a producer for U2, but this Warm Jets turns out to be a very good rock album with a glammy twist. Songs like "Baby's On Fire" and "Driving Me Backwards" meld great production values with what you'd expect from an early 70's record. I'd still rather listen to Music For Airports, but Eno shows he's able to get across as a rock star, too. I'd give it 4 out 5 stars as well. (added tag --1992)
  21. Freddy Parejo three hits Parejo has a boatload of talent - I hope he repeats Brevard next year and gets to start full-time. That may be a tall order to fill because of Gillespie, Ford, Cain and Brantley all breathing down his neck, but Freddy deserves to get the call for a year. Great body, decent plate discipline for a guy rushed to high-A ball as a 21 year old.

  23. yeah, there are a few forums that I visit that use ezboard and they have these really cool picture thingies for signatures. I wondered if it was doable here. Nope, we usually only allow a max of 3-4 lines of text for sigs. Wilco deserves to be higher up on that list, Toby. I've only been at this Last.fm thing for a few weeks - Wilco and Elliott Smith will be the top 2 most of the time. It's weird, looking at my all-time artist list, I listen to bands I know should be higher up more often, so I stray away from those higher up. It's a musically vain hobby, but what are ya gonna do?
  24. Alec Zumwalt in to get the last out of the top of the 9th - runner on second, Sounds up 5-3. Go get 'em, Zoomy. Edit: http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/mad.gif Edit 2: Bacon-cheddar on white melt-down for Alec Zumwalt - now 7-5, Round Rock.
