    Brewerfan.net is just like the Brewers. A bunch of losers. Well, Brewerfan *did* reach .500 last year for the first time in our history. And does this mean you no longer "Hate Chicago and All of Illinois"? YOU CANT HANDLE THE TRUTH!!!!!!!! Cool, dude. Cool.

    I'm still bitter over 1982, and it's the long, hard bitterness of an at-the-time 1.5 year old. I'm cheering for Detroit because I have nothing against them, but that's about it.

    Uffda. If St. Louis wins this game, they have the distinct edge in the Series. Verlander/Reyes shouldn't be even close, and it shouldn't not be close in this manner.

    Aaron Heilman is a sweet pitcher. However, is he worth what it would take to get him today? Doubt it. He's much more valuable as a starter. If I were a GM, the only way I'd trade for him is if my scouts absolutely convinced me he could start next year. Otherwise, you're trading for a decent bullpen guy, and paying a premium for him.

    Juan Pierre would be a really great #8 hitter on a solid NL club. That's about it. I wouldn't want him as a leadoff hitter unless my (presently non-existent) hitting coach promised me he could get on-base at a .360+ clip. Take some more walks, Juan. Use your legs.

    Don't the same regular season rules apply? Games becomes official after five complete. If the game is called before the end of a bottom of an inning, score reverts to the previous inning. If the score is tied, the game is suspended.

    This "Trachsel-stein" Wouldn't he be called something like El Steve Trachinez? I'm honestly pulling for the Cards in the final game, however much it guiles me to do it. Just can't cheer for a NY team, unless the Mets happen to be playing the Yanks in the World Series. Regardless of who wins, I'm an adopted Tiger fan for the Series.

What really irks me is that companies are just as likely to put an inexpensive item in it as they are to put a really expensive item in it. I've actually bought scissors that came in that hardened plastic mess - it's like they are just taunting you sometimes.

    The JS Online byline for the Mets' win tonight reads: "Maine helps Mets stave off eliminatio" Is it just me, or does that sound bad?

    Come on now, isn't the AZ Fall league supposed to be a "pitcher's league?" Quite the opposite. They even boosted the pitcher roster limit this year in part to get more quality arms into the league.

    Stetter will get invited to camp, but will be a pretty big longshot. He's not someone I would rely on over Ray King. That said.... Stetter had a 4.50 ERA in AAA, pitching an inning at a time. Does not compute. Does not compute. Games: 51. Innings pitched: 38.1. Average outing: .75 innings. Does not compute. And f you care to look at the stats, Stetter pitced very well against LHP. 21 IP, 17 H, 7 BB, 26 K. He allowed 10 earned runs, but the peripherals point to something better down the road. Yeah, I doubt Krynzel would make a good LOOGY either. Have you seen the arm on that kid?

    To use a cliche, Ryan was effectively (very) wild, especially in the first half of his career. Ryan walked 200+ guys in a year twice - that screams to me that he just didn't know where the ball was going most of the time. I guess it is just semantics, though... no one is denying that Ryan was a great pitcher.

    And all that with no control. Lifetime Walks Allowed Leaderboard And the second guy isn't even close. Sheets walks about a couple dozen guys a year, Ryan did that over the course a few weeks.

    Dave's 40-man future this offseason may just depend on who else the Brewers bring in. I don't believe the Brewers would remove him just to remove him - it'll depend on whether they really need the 40-man slot or not. There's no reason to remove him until they have to, and if he sticks around until ST, great. I'd like to see him beat out Gwynn and Nix, etc. for the 5th OF position.

    Disclaimer: I'm not trying to discredit anything Toby has said, just wanted to take the time to pick on Sheets a little. No, I understand. I just think of it as: if your shoulder can flip over and leverage a ball 99 MPH at the plate, you're a better athelete than I. Heck, I'd take 59.

    Remember that Yo has command of what, 3 or 4 pitches? Ben has 2 pitches. Both of Ben's pitches are plus-plus when on. I don't think Yo's fastball or slurve are anywhere near Ben's best two pitches at this point in time, nor do I think either of the pitches have the high-end plus-plus upside of Ben's two best pitches. All that said, if Yo can get his change into the average-to-plus area, he could be as good as Ben some day. I have the same apprehensions about Gallardo that I did about Sheets coming out of AA: irregardless of stuff, will they be able to translate their natural pitchability to the bigs? Both are tremendous atheletes with shots to be top-end starters. Sheets has mostly fulfilled all my wildest expectations of him, sans the injury bug. Will Gallardo be the next Sheets, the next Bush, or the next Ty Hill? Dunno, but I have a good feeling about the kid... a similar gut feeling I had with Sheets, even though they are different pitchers. My guess is that (as always, barring injury) Yo will be up sometime in June or July and be here to stick. At worst, he'll be as good as Villanueva was this past year. At best, he'll be the 2007 version of the 1992 Cal Eldred.

    When's the last time our bullpen was being paid $10+ mil? That really seems to me to be the most overpaid segment of the team. And this is without counting the veteran or two I think they'll bring in. I'm glad you aren't calling for the Crew to resign Bell anymore http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif Hey man, not me. I'm right up with Brett in terms of anti-Bellitude.

    Well, we can all update our projections to reflact Miller's $2.75 mil salary for 2007. An extra mil! Even better news, Russ. He's only making $2.25 mil. We're saving enough here for like 3/4 a Graffanino.

    May I just say that if/when (your choice) the Brewers reach a post-season again...let's please not be wielding foam noodles that look like pool toys. Not unless Miller radically changes their bottle design.

    Just a note, the next Power 50 will be out in the next few weeks. I was working on the first roster projections for next spring, and I noticed I needed to do a P50 too.
