  1. And I thought he was a prime candidate for a demotion. He pitched terribly in Brevard and they reward him with a promotion. Go figure.
  2. A lot of people are undervaluing both Hart and Fielder on this board but especially Fielder. I would imagine the offers will start to roll in over the weekend and we'll see from there.
  3. I don't think Hudson is the guy either but I think he can easily be a solid and reliable number 3. We need that badly too. We don't need to get the #1 pitcher in this deal necessarily if we gather enough top end assets that we can spin with Hart or Weeks for the #1 pitcher we need.
  4. I can't understand why Parra keeps getting sent out there. He doesn't have top of the rotation stuff. He doesn't even have bottom of the rotation stuff. At one point he was a prospect with huge upside. Now he's a AAAA player that goes out every fifth day to throw batting practice for the other team. He's about to turn 28. He consistently allows more hits than innings pitched year in and year out. So what if he throws left handed and hard. He's extremely hittable. Try him in the pen. It's really his only hope to stay in the majors if he can learn to put it together long enough to get through 1-3 batters an outing. Then possibly and I stress possibly he might have some upside. The only other upside I see is get him to throw Gomez batting practice all day and he might get his confidence/average up high enough to be productive.
  5. Hudson, Beckham, Flowers and Viciedo for Prince would be a fair return. Anything less and forget it. Prince is the top hitter on the market right now. If you win a world series you can give up as many prospects as you want. It doesn't matter. You can trade Prince at the deadline next year for a similar package to someone else. In the end the team that gets him likely loses very little in the long run in prospects and potentially cashes in big time with a world series win or at the least playoff revenue and increased souvenir sales and concessions. Getting Beckham wouldn't concern me at all. He's an asset and will precipitate another trade that either involves him or another current Brewer.
  6. The Phillies are trying to win it all this year. Who cares about next year and the salary problems and lack of minor league talent if you've won it all this year.
  7. Well if the Padres are interested it would likely net you a package like Inman, Thatcher and Garrisson. I'm not really joking either. Kyle Blanks is another guy that would interest me a lot for Bush. He's been hurt all year and got rushed to the majors last year because his bat was ready and they had no room at 1B for him. At 6'6 270 ish the fans wouldn't even realize he'd replaced Prince next year.
  8. Would Gomez even get you a decent rookie ball player back in trade right now? If he's with the team next year other than as the 4th/5th outfielder, pinch run, late inning defensive replacement I'll be surprised. If he slips up a little more they could rename the Mendoza line the Gomez line for 21st century players. He doesn't have far to fall. Just play him everyday and he'll get there.
  9. Weeks is the one guy I hope they get moved shortly. He's just to injury prone. Cash out now before it's too late and when you'll get the maximum return. And with the season he's having you should get a pretty good package.
  10. If Weeks goes does that mean Lawrie jumps straight to the Brewers? That would be interesting to say the least.
  11. Here's the thing about prospects in general. There is no such thing as a safe bet or a sure thing with very very few exceptions. Minor is not one of those exceptions. That's not to say he can't be good or even great but the chance he never makes an impact is pretty big as well. Think Manny Parra as an example. We all thought we had something special. Right now we have a guy that's just good enough to keep his job showing no upside and quickly approaching the time to cut the strings for good. The only reason he still has a job is there is no one ready to take his job in the minors.
  12. Sorry but I'm not trading an All Star OF with a year of control left for just one minor league pitcher. I'm fine with Minor as the centerpiece of the deal but they had better add in another lower leverl prospects or two. As for taking Kawakami I wouldn't be opposed as I think he's better than he's shown this year but they would need to take Hoffman and the rest of his contract back for this year and throw in another decent prospect to compensate us for the additional salary for next.
  13. Sanchez is a realistic start at rebuilding this team. Unless you are the Yankees you don't just go out and buy a #2, #3 and #4 one day for something to do. I'm fine with Yo and Wolf filling roles on this team. Sanchez would be a nice addition. he would be another piece of the puzzle. I'm not suggesting for a second he'd be a saviour or make us a winner but he'd be an improvement. That wouldn't stop us from needing another #1b or #2 to seriously compete. Beng a small market team you take baby steps to get better. It all depends what comes with him. Add in Schierholtz to replace Hart because I think he's more than serviceable and always got the short end of the stick in San Fran because he had options left. If we toss in a middle reliever and could get back a couple of intruging prospects I'd do that deal.
  14. I'm not at all against getting Sanchez depending what comes with him. He'd be a major upgrade to Parra and Narveson. While I don't see Sanchez developing into a #1 or even a #2 I think he's a solid #3 type guy which we badly need. We also need a #2 guy badly but that would have to wait for another day. I'd love to get Schierholtz back with him as well as I think he's been majorly underutilized in San Fran.
  15. If Gallardo is gone for up to 2 months as is being speculated if it is an oblique strain I'd say right now. Any pending free agent and one or two relief pitchers should be on the move shortly.
  16. All very deserving here. It's awesome to see 3 Brewers on the team.
  17. When was the last time the Brewers added someone to the 40 man roster before they had too? Doug said all the right things and put a positive spin on it but this move was all about protecting an asset and nothing more.
  18. Whether it's this year or next it's going to take a decent young player already in the majors with 2 of a teams top 5 prospects or 3-4 of any teams top 10 prospects. (Well maybe not the Astros because I'm not sure they have 3-4 top ten prospects) We will get it too from a team in a pennant race if we choose to ever move him.
  19. In other words we are just protecting our asset. This move made no sense at all coming when it did unless there was an ulterior motive.
  20. I agree that we have lots of decent releivers and it would make a lot of sense to trade one or two away to re-stock the minors with some decent prospects be it pitching or position players. It doesn't have to be Villanueva or Coffey. Offer them all around and get someone to overpay for one of them.
  21. What choice did the Brewers really have? This isn't cold at all. It's a business and Angel is not producing or progressing at all right now. He should be absolutely raking it in BC and he's not even doing that. Hopefully he can get his life straightened out as there is more to life than baseball but I wouldn't be surprised if he's released in the next month if he doesn't start to produce. He's got a lot more going against him right now than going for him to say the least.
  22. Lets see him dominate at AA at least before we get too excited. He's a long way from the majors and demonstrating he has what it takes to be a MLB pitcher.
  23. Neither Feilder or Hart are going anywhere soon. The earliest Feilder goes is this winter. The more likely situation is they try to sign him long term next spring and if he turns down the best offer we can make he goes at the trade deadline only if we are out of it next year. I could see them trying to lock up Hart long term unless he fades badly in the 2nd half.
  24. And people complained about Suppan!!!! Mind you by him going loco and being suspended I doubt they have to pay him.
  25. Move up to Canada where I live and you wait 3-6 months just to see a surgeon. Then wait a couple more months before you actually get the surgery. People work and play with lots of injuries. The only way you get operated on in Canada quickly is if it's a life or death situation or you have the money to go to the U.S. Or if you are a professional athlete.
