  1. Nice Move. Very little risk and Gagne has a huge incentive to pitch well from a financial perspective because if he bombs now he is likley done.
  2. Or it's possible he's playing independant ball somewhere partly through the year. Pena is regressing and quickly getting too old to be considered a prospect. He's looking more and more like another one of those incredibally raw talented guys that never puts it all together. Time to move on and try a younger arm.
  3. With Escobar in the wings I'd try for Hanson but settle for Jurrjens.
  4. Good luck to him. He is a marginal player at best but well liked on this site. It sounds like he has a decent opportunity there. Guys like Branyan aren't the solution for us they are filler material. I don't see many deals going down for a long time given the economy. I think that is what is driving or should I say not driving most teams now. There are a handful of teams with money to spend and just as many or more trying to cut salary. Most of the rest seem content to stay pat for now.
  5. Not a very inspiring bunch added. We'll be lucky if we get a decent relief pitcher if anything. Still don't think anyone would have taken Rogers.
  6. We have capable outfielders in the minors that will be ready in the next year or two, Braun, Hart, and Cameron in the majors and where would Fukodome play? 4th outlfielder because we already have better options. You'd have to trade one of our existing outfielders to make room for him which would be a downgrade. Why would we want to do that? Personally I'd never deal with the Yankees. There players are almost always highly overrated due to the media attention they get and their minor league guys are even more overhyped.
  7. Koji Uehara. At least that's how I think it's spelled. Wants to sign as a starter but has worked as a successful closer in the past. Would love to see the Brewers add him.
  8. Questionable character is one of the nicest things I've ever seen written about the guy. Most things can't be posted. Poison in the clubhouse is probably the only way I can phrase it without being banned from the site for inappropriate language.
  9. I don't think there is any doubt Peavy is going to be traded it's just a matter of where.
  10. Hardy might make sense in that you always take the best deal. There would be nothing stopping them from flipping Hardy again. He wouldn't be hard to move.
  11. Parra, Jeffress, Cain and Lucroy or Salome would probably be the minimum we could offer and expect to have a chance. It would likely need to be more. The names I'm seeing rumoured from "Atlanta include Jurrjens, Hanson, Flowers, Schafer and Heyward. Not necessarily all in one deal but personally I'd take Jurrjens and Hanson any day of the week over Parra and Jeffress. Jurrjens is a better pitcher and has more long term upside than Parra and Hanson is closer to being in the majors and doesn't have a history like Jeffress.
  12. Why would the Dodgers want to deal either Kemp or Kershaw? The more likely is that they would try to deal Pierre.
  13. It would have to be very similar. I would expect that JJ, Jeffress, and maybe a Gindl type would get it done or substitute a couple more prospects in place of JJ who have high ceilings. Not a bad deal from the Brewers perspective if we don't resign CC or Sheets. We have a small window to win. 3-4 years so by the time most of our prospects that played A+ or lower make it we'll be rebuilding anyways. I have no issue what so ever about depleting the minor leagues at that level and lower. Then we can lose for 3-5 years again and rebuild and take another run at it. That's kind of how the cycle generally runs for most good teams. I'll admit a few teams like the Braves seem to be able to avoid the rebuilding for longer but they are exceptions to the rule.
  14. I think anyone on San Diego is available. The owner is going through a nasty divorce and needs to raise money and cut expenses. Have seen this mentioned on rotoworld and elsewhere. If we were willing to give up cheaper/younger players I don't think there is an untouchable on the team right now. Peavey would look good. Maybe a package of Corey Hart or JJ as the centrepiece with some more of our minor leaguers would get it done. Especially if we agreed to take on another overpaid guy.
  15. To clarify it was a big mistake drafting him. I'm not sure what potential everyone is talking about. He's regressing folks not progressing. To compare him to Utley is ridiculous. We have shown we are a playoff team and should be in contention for the next few year. Let Kansas City try to develop him. We don't have time to develop right now. Trade him for an established player. Besides salary is going to dictate that some have to go rather soon and he's not one I'd be interested in keeping long term. I'd rather try to find a way to keep Hardy even if it means putting him in a new position.
  16. Fell off a while back. Sorry to wreck the flow. I don't see him progressing and see him regressing further. He was a big mistake and it's time to move on as I don't expect to get more than a A ball guy for him next winter. Sometimes you just have to admit you screwed up and move on. This is one of them.
  17. Capuano could be a bullpen option come August/September of next year if we re-sign him. All depends on how quickly he recovers. He's not a starting option for 09 though.
  18. I'm very releaved that it wasn't Green to go. Brantley should have a decent major league career but I'm not convinced it will be as a starter. Grenn has a lot more long term potential in my books.
  19. I hope he's gone at the end of the year. He's had more than enough chances and failed every time. It's time for both him and the team to move on. If we hold onto him another year and he bombs again we'd be looking at getting an A ball type prospect for him. This winter we could probably still get a pretty good minor leaguer or a relief pitcher who might be some good for him.
  20. SWEET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I mean what else is there to really say. When you have the best pitcher in baseball it helps. Let's win it all so we have the revenue to resign CC at any price.
  21. Good luck to Ben, one of the Brewers all time greatest players. I can't see him coming back next year. It's going to be weird watching a Brewers team without Ben on it. Hopefully his arm is ok for the long run.
  22. I'm on board with Blanco fan. If the regulars really want to play they can pinch hit as i wouldn't have anyone likely to be on the post season roster throwing tomorrow. First though we have to get through tonight.
  23. No offense to Agent 39 as I enjoy reading his posts but he is an agent. You can't always trust what they say as it's their job to promote their clients. If that means lying or telling half truths they will do it and should be doing it. I'm sure his players are in the mix but since the player hasn't been chosen yet I'm not sure how he could know for sure who is being taken. He could have a pretty good idea but until it's decided no one knows.
  24. Don't like this one at all. It would essentially be Fielder and Escobar for Halliday and that's too much. Overbay and Rolen wouldn't help us and are just added salaries that would need to be paid. There's a better deal out there than this.
  25. The Giants could realy use 'Fielder but I don't see a place for Rickie on that team. Come to think of it I don't see a place for Rickie in Major League baseball other than as a pinch hitter. He's barely an adequate backup.
