  1. That was about the perfect inning set up for Pomeranz. Got to face two lefties. Not sure if it’s a matchup wanted to face multiple righties in an inning.
  2. Looks like the magic just plain ran out in Colorado. Giving up homers in three consecutive innings, including both Pomeranz and Hader getting tagged. And if the Braun and Cain injuries end up lingering, that’s even more problematic.
  3. Punch it in running the ball. Might need an O-Line who can maul and run block to do that. The way the running game was going tonight, they were just as likely to lose 4 yards as they were to punch it in there. Oh, yeah. For sure tonight. Just musing that this has been an issue for more than a few seasons.

  5. Defense is getting torched now.
  6. Picking up two or three insurance runs would be very calming right now.
  7. With that many early draft picks in hand and the cap space they've got, Miami's GM Chris Grier will have his fate in his own hands. The Steelers 2020 first rounder that he obtained might end up being really high in the round.
  8. Week 2 was not a good one for quarterbacks. Not only is Brees out for multiple weeks, Roethlisberger is done for the season with an elbow injury.
  9. Unfortunately, it's looking like the postmortems of 2019 will include deciding which other previous season it most resembled, 2009 or 2013. 2012. It's pretty much the same, at least the bullpen is just as horrific and the starters quite a bit worse. Yeah, 2012. Couldn't even get the season right in my reply. Corrected it in the thread above.
  10. Unfortunately, it's looking like the postmortems of 2019 will include deciding which other previous season it most resembled, 2009 or 2012. EDIT: Changed 2013 to 2012.
  11. Probably should consult Doug Jones for an answer to that question.
  12. Now you are just making things up. Nats announcers noticed the same thing I did. Thought they would have sent Braun. %’s made up obviously, so your half right. Nats announcers also rescinded that thought after looking at the replay during the inning break, noting that the ball got to Soto before Braun even reached third base.
  13. It’s been more or less since the All Star Break. Hader’s ERA has gone up a full run since end of June.
  14. I’ve been waiting for that also. Nice short trip from the Harrisburg, PA area down to Baltimore.
  15. 10 BBs and 2 HBPs through 9 innings from the pitching staff. Still might be able to pull out a win, but that is an ugly line.
  16. Great approach by Braun to tie the game, but the lack of a big inning despite having multiple runners on base continues this week’s pattern.
  17. One deadline at August 15 would’ve been a better choice.
  18. Plenty of controllable years for Faria. Does he have any minor league options left?
  19. Worth it if Lyles can give any sort of quality pitching performances until some of the injured starters return. It seems somewhat unlikely that Ponce would have been given a 40-man roster spot next year. Getting a major league pitcher--even a mediocre one--to meet an extreme need for that price seems almost a no-brainer.
