  1. Loved the spark that Michael gave the offense to begin the 2nd Half. Was very surprised that he wasn't in the backfield for the 4th down play. Seems like a better choice than Montgomery, if it's going to be a run. I liked McCarthy being aggressive, but I don't think that was the time and place for it. Midfield, sure. Around your own 40 and the way the game was playing out, that's a bit more doubtful. The way that the offense got in a hot zone during the last 35 minutes of the game is a good sign. But I don't think that the Packers can afford a quarter plus like the 1st/2nd Quarters today down in Dallas. They could be looking at a two TD deficit instead of two FGs if that happens. Let the magic carpet ride continue!
  2. Won't be a much better Game 7. Definitely an epic. Only missed the walk off win.
  3. Three Cleveland runs would do it. Only got the one. Those Cubs fans are going to be insufferable.
  4. Rain delay seems to have affected Cleveland more. Might have given Chicago some time to regroup. Cleveland's releiver needing to sit and wait probably didn't help either.
  5. Just finally read the news. Ugh. Too bad we can't send him down to AAA for the rest of the season.
  6. Classic matchup for Motre Bame vs. Pittsburgh tonight. With these rivalry games, you just toss out the records and watch team pride take over.
  7. It's been a while since I scored games for state high school tournaments. So I went to the MLB rule book. Check out the link and read through rule 9.03(d) and 9.09(b). Those should help answer the questions. http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/downloads/y2016/official_baseball_rules.pdf
  8. Nice win. A little closer than needed. Good to see the Brewers win in person out here in Philadelphia for another year.
  9. VILLAR! Another game showing how he was a great pickup this offseason.
  10. Blew a huge opportunity: bases loaded, no out, and don't score. Really need two perfect innings from the bullpen now.
  11. Great to see the Big Man hit the home run. Bit of a golf shot. Just kept carrying. Surprised a bit here in the ballpark.
  12. Tucson seems to have an opening for a AAA franchise; getting one to move back there is the difficulty. Two potential stadiums are present: Kino Veterans and Hi Corbett. Only independent baseball at Kino; University of Arizona is at Hi Corbett. Tucson could also double as a home base for Spring Training, as it had done many years for various teams. Have to get over the need to travel to other Cactus League sites, but it's not like the Grapefruit League teams don't have to drive in Florida. But without having a franchise wanting to move--or one to buy--even floating the idea is pretty much moot.
  13. Real dominance by Garcia on the mound today. Tough to have to play from behind after another lousy start from Peralta, but when the opposing pitcher notches a CG SHO 1-hitter with 13Ks, that's nearly impossible to beat.
  14. Well, after two innings it looks like Garcia is on his game today. Hope Peralta can match.
  15. Weather forecast looks good for an April day game in St. Louis. Got a feeling that there might just be clunkers from both starters today. Don't know if the Brewers can outslug the Cardinals, but something like a 8-6 type of game seems possible.
  16. Two out of three ain't bad? It's disappointing to miss out on the Olympics again. It will be interesting to see what staff fallout might come of this, since qualifying should be an expectation.
  17. Changes in draft order probably wouldn't be a major factor in avoiding "tanking" in baseball, given how many draft picks never pan out. NBA, yes; MLB, no. Salary cap and floor wouldn't be a bad development for MLB. Might prevent the hard feelings owners have about abuses of revenue sharing. But the big market owners and the players' union would probably not go for it. Couldn't buy a championship and won't get the mammoth contracts. If the goal was to avoid tanking altogether, there is a guaranteed way to prevent it: Promotion & Relegation within a baseball pyramid. Too bad the calendar can't be turned back 50 or more years to implement it.
  18. Unless I'm reading the article incorrectly, it looks like the Brewers promoted Jeff Levering to Joe Block's role and are now looking for candidates to take Levering's old position. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/163249600/brewers-promote-levering-block-to-pirates
  19. Love the ball-and-glove logo in the navy and yellow colors; to me it's way better than the royal blue and yellow. I'll definitely be getting a couple caps with that on. (Though I'd really like to see it in navy and gold.) If they went to this new setup as the permanent logo, I could get on board with it. But there is something classy about the current "M" and barley logo that would be lost if the switch is made. The current logo is good looking on clothing besides caps. Not sure if the same is true about the ball-and-glove.
  20. I've used a fairly basic Brother b/w laser printer for over 10 years. Just print basic documents on it. I'd suggest getting one of their cheaper models. Check Office Depot or Staples ads; you can sometimes get one for under $75.
  21. Houston having San Antonio as a long term AAA affiliate would be a good get for the Astros. Austin (Round Rock) is currently linked with the Texas Rangers. Putting an Astros affiliate 90 miles down the road would be a good way to try to gain the San Antonio market. Unfortunately, that would likely mean losing out on the site for the Brewers as ZBTMP notes above. To JohnBriggs12's statements about San Antonio/Austin becoming "major league": The population trends would indicate that it could be a possibility, if it would develop into a San Antonio/Austin metroplex. But perhaps the distance between San Antonio and Austin and the desire of the cities to be seen as completely distinct would be a bit too much to overcome.
  22. This would be a good move for the minor-league franchise to make. San Antonio should be a more attractive place than Colorado Springs with its elevation issues. A move would likely be dependent upon San Antonio getting a new ballpark, though. If that happens, it would be nice to get in on that and not miss like in Nashville.
  23. That's a lot of purchasing power for Macy's. Maybe he'll use it in St. Louis.
  24. What should I be looking for that will protect it from basic day-to-day stuff? I use the Spigen Tough Armor case and one of their screen protectors--a thin glass that adheres to the iPhone screen. Very effective against drops and doesn't add much bulk. You can find some interesting videos online with people testing out the protection.
