  1. I have too many life responsibilities to get mired in all the stats, data, metrics, so I trust the broadcast team has some clue. The other aspect is accuracy of course. Maybe the numbers show he's better there. With his speed, Pete Rose like tenacity, and penchant for making big defensive plays, he does seem like more of a logical fit in CF to me too. Murph must know something we don't.
  2. The broadcast guys say Frelick has the strongest arm, That tool is valued in RF to make the longer throws.
  3. It’s nearly impossible to judge such a thing.
  4. There is zero reason at the moment to rush him back. Everybody knows hammys are tricky.
  5. yeah, crazy... that was essentially how I viewed him last year as well. A decent bottom of the roster guy with potential to contribute. I liked Hicklen too actually, but he shot himself in the foot with a boneheaded baserunning error, which I recall, opened the opportunity for the guy I call Ice. He's a humble, midwestern man playing for a blue collar team. Likability is off the charts.
  6. As things stand today, I'd think they would go with Woodruff for the obvious reasons already stated, primarily, Freddie struggling to get through 5-6 innings consistently.
  7. Having only just started following the affiliates this spring, I don't know these things... is there a typical, somewhat predictable timeframe or window for minor league promotions? My thought was to come back to Appleton next year and catch Pena, Made, Dinges before they get bumped up. Any chance that happens over the winter instead? Wondering if I should make an other trek before the end of the month. My hunch is they all start the year out in High-A next season, and some will promote faster than others depending on who is up above them. Does Made bump up if Pratt doesn't etc? Or perhaps surpass him?
  8. Yeah, I'm in the rural hinterlands as well, just WI rather than west / coastal region. Those little strips of patches look like band aids, but they get the job done. As a fiscally frugal person, I appreciate the stretching of the product before dealing with replacement costs LOL.
  9. Dang.. .has to be an afternoon game. I'll have to remain sequestered from social media until after work when I can watch the replay on MLB
  10. From our recent first trip there, the stadium appears to be in an outer city limits development area. With lots of road construction going on, our trip from the hotel to the ballpark detours seemed to take us in a giant rectangle of roundabouts and right turns, some of which took us past corn fields as well as quiet industrial parks. Those roads get upgraded when they handle a relevant amount of traffic to justify the cost. Appleton reminds me of Eau Claire somewhat.
  11. Was just there a couple weeks ago to catch Burke before he got promoted. Can't wait to come back and see Pena and Made, maybe even Dinges and Letson. Several hours drive, so it's going to have to wait until next year, hoping / assuming they start '26 in Appleton.
  12. This is my first year of having access to the minor league affiliates, so I didn't know what the standard was. Didn't take long to get annoyed with the poor quality broadcast production for Biloxi, but I wasn't sure if that was the norm for higher levels to have lower quality. Biloxi was my primary interest the first few months, but it was hard to watch with video delay always being a tick behind the audio.
  13. And to think Chourio and Hoskins will be available in a couple weeks. Hopefully, that's it with the injury bug so they can hit the stretch run and playoffs at full strength. That's a pretty damn complete team. Myself and others have said before... it will take a special alignment of the (baseball) planets for the Brewers to get to and possibly win a championship. Some of those factors included: Young talent breaking out, having career years. They have that in spades at the moment. Low key, affordable acquisitions producing far more than could fairly be expected. Yep, getting that too. Core young veterans taking a step up. I'd say Frelick, Turang check those boxes off. Baseball is a funny game of streaks and momentum as we all know. Usually, we small market fans cling to that in the "just get in the tourney, and anything can happen" meaning... upsets can and do happen. Oddly, this year, I'm tentatively viewing that in the reverse. I don't want to hope for upsets, because MIL could be going in as the targets for an upset instead of the other way around as we are more accustumed to. Funny game indeed.
  14. Just was. I hope to return early next year to catch these two up and comers.
  15. A radio/pod host I listen to warned many years ago that AI will reach a point where we won't know what to believe anymore from any news source, rumor, accusation etc. We're getting there. It begins with innocuous, amusing subject matter like sports or pop culture related stuff to normalize it.
  16. Same. Hope the mods don't allow this forum to become a dumping ground for that kind of trash. It's neither funny nor clever.
  17. They can hang with anybody. That's where my optimism level is at. Don't think I've ever reached that point before. There was always some boogieman team that I felt they were looking up at. Not now.
  18. Don't have any solid thoughts on the topic, but I'll say I'm amazed at the bat control skill some guys have to intentionally foul off pitches to get a pitch they want to try and square up. Back in my playing days, I was never thinking like that at the plate, just wanted to make solid contact. Obviously that low level pitching is apples to oranges compared to the velo and movement the pros see. All the movement probably makes it a little easier to foul off balls intentionally.
  19. Its been about 10 years since I had been to a major league game, and I had never attended a minor league game before. My family just returned from vacation which include both our first game at AmFam and then a few days later in Appleton. Baseball in general has really made an obvious effort to make going to a game an event, much more than just going to a game. The nonstop music clips, the special announcements, the short activities, trivia, celeb lookalikes, crowd shots etc type stuff on the big screens in between innings, the amusement park type things....it's really a lot to take in. Easy to see how it draws in more casual fans which is what baseball needs.
  20. I was a little surprised, not only by the attendance, but the concession prices. Low level minor league talent on the field, yet major league beer prices. Still a good time. The overall production of the game was bigger than I expected too.
  21. I have a weird feeling that Peralta and Quintana might become unforeseen weak spots as the season rolls on into the playoffs. They would still have formidable pitching options to work with it though.
  22. Getting WAAYYY ahead of things, but a MIL / TOR or MIL / DET would be nice, especially the latter. A couple of small market, blue collar cities in the WS would be a giant middle finger to MLB
  23. I meant I was wondering if Lockridge was the backup plan to Perk in CF. But yes, they probably trust Sal there instead if it came to it.
  24. With no Mitchell, and now Chourio out for however long, I'm wondering what the contingency plan is for CF in case Blake gets hurt. Is it Lockridge?
  25. Little did I know that a kid in the suburb next door would end up a Brewer star. Don't live in MN anymore, but we did when he was growing up apparently. Hard not to cheer for the guy I call "Ice".
