  1. Same. Hope the mods don't allow this forum to become a dumping ground for that kind of trash. It's neither funny nor clever.
  2. They can hang with anybody. That's where my optimism level is at. Don't think I've ever reached that point before. There was always some boogieman team that I felt they were looking up at. Not now.
  3. Don't have any solid thoughts on the topic, but I'll say I'm amazed at the bat control skill some guys have to intentionally foul off pitches to get a pitch they want to try and square up. Back in my playing days, I was never thinking like that at the plate, just wanted to make solid contact. Obviously that low level pitching is apples to oranges compared to the velo and movement the pros see. All the movement probably makes it a little easier to foul off balls intentionally.
  4. Its been about 10 years since I had been to a major league game, and I had never attended a minor league game before. My family just returned from vacation which include both our first game at AmFam and then a few days later in Appleton. Baseball in general has really made an obvious effort to make going to a game an event, much more than just going to a game. The nonstop music clips, the special announcements, the short activities, trivia, celeb lookalikes, crowd shots etc type stuff on the big screens in between innings, the amusement park type things....it's really a lot to take in. Easy to see how it draws in more casual fans which is what baseball needs.
  5. I was a little surprised, not only by the attendance, but the concession prices. Low level minor league talent on the field, yet major league beer prices. Still a good time. The overall production of the game was bigger than I expected too.
  6. I have a weird feeling that Peralta and Quintana might become unforeseen weak spots as the season rolls on into the playoffs. They would still have formidable pitching options to work with it though.
  7. Getting WAAYYY ahead of things, but a MIL / TOR or MIL / DET would be nice, especially the latter. A couple of small market, blue collar cities in the WS would be a giant middle finger to MLB
  8. I meant I was wondering if Lockridge was the backup plan to Perk in CF. But yes, they probably trust Sal there instead if it came to it.
  9. With no Mitchell, and now Chourio out for however long, I'm wondering what the contingency plan is for CF in case Blake gets hurt. Is it Lockridge?
  10. Little did I know that a kid in the suburb next door would end up a Brewer star. Don't live in MN anymore, but we did when he was growing up apparently. Hard not to cheer for the guy I call "Ice".
  11. Will the Lord of the Rings pitcher end MIL's winning streak? You shall not pass.....
  12. That's pretty close to the "They did SOMETHING" certificate
  13. It's a gamble. Appleton is several hours drive, and we were just there last Friday. I'll have to hope for the best next season.
  14. It's always fun to see new guys come up and get some opportunities. Highly doubt it lasts very long, but they see a window to get him some practical experience to adjust to the bigs. He's not killing them, I like it. Still, Durbin will carry the bulk of the load most of the rest of the way.
  15. I'm already planning a trip to Appleton next year to see those "two other guys".
  16. I'm wondering about average attendance. I went for the first time last Friday. Watching on TV, it looks like there are always plenty of seats available. Walking up, all they had was grass seating left minutes before first pitch. Over 6000 announced. It was a special event night, so does that explain it, or do they always sell that well?
  17. Wilken and Adams were listed as 7 day IL around June 20-23. Still listed as 7 day IL. What is the point of listing it with a range of days if it's largely meaningless info? Aggravating. 8-10 week recovery for Wilken is basically season ending, but I haven't seen anything officially saying so.
  18. I wasn't expecting anything more than Nashville for Wilken and Adams by years end.
  19. Agreed, it's a gamble. Suarez could come in at a high cost of resources and flop miserably. If they would take Payne, Gasser and Boeve or Quintana, I think you have a heart attack racing to make that trade. (And I like all those players). You could start with that offer, but with deep pockets also in the mix, the ante is probably going to be raised.
  20. Maybe not preferable, but with the competition for Suarez, it's going to be costly. It's natural to want to rank prospects, but it's no guarantee they measure up to expectations. Not saying this is the trade I want, but just that it might take something on that level, pain for the gain.
  21. Any talk of trading a prospect capable of slugging 25-30+HRs annually should be illegal. MIL is dying of thirst for a home grown power bat. Wilken K's a lot, but if you think he can hit. 225ish with 35 HRs, you don't trade that away. If they went hot for Suarez, maybe Meyers, either Made or Pena, and Black. AZ gets major league ready / experienced, controllable SP, a top SS prospect and guy who needs a chance to latch on with someone at the top level. I like Black, but he just doesn't have a position in MIL. AZ might give him a shot at 1B if Naylor is gone after '25 or traded at the deadline. The mention of Made might seem odd after my thoughts on Wilken, but he's years away from MIL. He could always wash out yet. Plus they would still have Pratt and Pena.
  22. Thanks for the tips. The stadium resource article was helpful too.
  23. It depends on the mental makeup of the player. No metric can measure that. Certainly, playoff experience can be helpful or overrated depending on the player. Overall, I think younger players are less intimidated by the big stage than they used to be. I also think this bears out across society. Our culture has changed for better or worse. People used to have stage fright. People used to have a personal filter, an inhibition. Now, the most tone deaf, untalented hacks have no qualms about embarrassing themselves in front of 50 strangers singing karoake very badly and regarding their own performance as pretty good. In a narcissistic environment where everybody can have a social media platform to assuage their egos, younger people aren't afraid of the spotlight. It does not surprise me in the least when wet behind the ears ball players hit the big leagues in stride with some immediate success. Others still melt from the pressure though. It's a case by case situation in my view.
  24. It's delicious when the Brewers play well enough to force MLB and its cottage industry to talk about its version of a "fly over land" team. Jomboy media overall gives them a little lip service, but the other show with Plouffe and Rose could do better. It's also should be noted that they are saying things indirectly which echoes my opinion about what matters in evaluating players ... and more importantly... what is overrated. That is a subject for a thread all itself, but it ruffles too many feathers.
  25. Just wish we had a bigger sample size on Vaughn. They definitely need more from 1B, and no way to know what we're going to get when Hosk is back. Vaughn has been pretty good, but will it last? All in all, I l like the idea of bringing in O'Hearn.
