  1. Never say never, but moving Turang at this point seems pretty unlikely regardless of his past experience at SS. A popular argument against making major trade changes is upsetting the chemistry of the team. That doesn't only apply to the roster makeup, but to the positional lineup as well. Turang at SS would now have to get a feel for how the guy on both his left and his right are going to react to certain balls. A split second of uncertainty can cause issues sometimes.
  2. Yeah nutso, laughable and a bunch of other things besides. My eyes tell me all I need to know about Ortiz' defensive chops.
  3. Give me an old school coach like Murphy any day, every day, all day.
  4. My guess... Chourio and Frelick will play just about every day, and they'll juggle Collins and Perk primarily. Maybe give Yelli or Black/Bauers an odd day in LF to give Chourio a spell.
  5. They are good enough, and things are clicking just right for the time being that it’s challenging to say no to the general poll question. My gut tells me they are overachieving a little though. Feels like they still need to add a power bat while they can. No ideal way to fit one in though. I do wonder if Vaughn is going to remain consistently productive at the plate, or if Naylor might be a consideration. I think we can scratch Suarez off the list as probably too cost prohibitive.
  6. Hands off Wilken. Brewers finally have a big slug bat in development who could be their Devers, Suarez of the near future. Don’t go trading a guy like that.
  7. Might be catching a T-Rats game for the first time in a couple weeks. Seems like every time I catch a few innings on TV, they're playing the Kernels
  8. That question had been asked elsewhere on social media. Nobody had a solid answer or mentioned the bullpen, but yeah, that might be it.
  9. As shown in the Chourio photo, who are they pointing at? Why do the players always point towards centerfield when rounding 2nd on HRs? Are they watching themselves on the big screen and pointing to themselves?
  10. Has there been any more recent injury update on Wilken beyond what has been shared in this thread? Adams too for that matter.
  11. Wouldn't require a trade, but I wonder if they might consider bringing up Dalbec to bolster the OF and add some potential thump. His MLB numbers haven't been great, but he's swinging a good bat in Nash.
  12. Fine. Counter perspective / opinion / viewpoint whatever... Just because people say stuff doesn't mean it's true or possibly stretching the truth. I could explain how this might have applied in this case, but it's really not worth the energy. This thread has rabbit trailed enough already.
  13. That's funny. I've been posting on forums for decades. Never been labelled as a troll before. No, I might be a contrarian with my own ideas rather than a go along to get along type, but I'm not a troll. I'm not the one engaging in personal attacks. I didn't blow off "smarter responses", I offered counters to some of them, don't have time to engage everybody. I've been respectful in offering my opinions. Can't say I've received the same from some here. Regardless, I'm here to talk about the Brewers, not waste my time defending against ad hominem pissing matches.
  14. Saw some speculation about Garcia being a possible MIL target a few days ago.
  15. Oh yes, everybody that posts online is required to have insider sources. We all post opinions, the majority of which are derived from what we see or read. I form viewpoints like everyone else from observation and discerning what of the available information may or may not be entirely truthful. You have your opinion, that's fine.
  16. Nope, I don't care about validation or affirmation. I was just wondering what the general sentiment about him leaving soon might be. People love him now. I'm anticipating that the general fan base might feel a bit of resentment when he flies the coop after they spent a lot of money for half a season of starts. Really nothing more, nothing less than that. I'm not saying he made it all up, but people in the spotlight or even in polite conversation will sometimes embellish and spin the truth to fit the situation and / or agenda at hand.
  17. LOL.. Nope, just a new dude with an independent mind.
  18. Woo just saying it doesn't make it a fact. Sure, maybe half the league called his agent to kick the tires looking for a low risk, lowball bargain. It doesn't sound like anybody was going to give him near what the Brewers did, or that there was enough interest to drive up the price out of MIL's range. He wouldn't have taken MIL's deal if it was substantially lower just because of the medical staff / physical therapist. It sounds like he's saying all the right things that you're expected to say to court the fans. I'm saying, maybe he should realize, having career earnings of $32 million already, maybe it's OK to show some gratitude. I know that's unheard of in this world where money is the god most people worship - it's not mine, and be content sticking with the team that stuck with you at your lowest point. I don't think that is too much to ask, another stack of surplus wealth be damned.
  19. May be true, may not. And if so, how did those offers stack up? I doubt anyone offered a better deal than MIL. As is said "he has to do what is best for his family". I don't necessarily agree with that after a guy has already made many millions of dollars. Even so, there is no reason to think he would have taken less then if he wouldn't take less now. I don't believe there was any sort of bidding war for him. Which leads me to conclude that MIL did him a BIG solid, and yes, he owes it to MIL. I'm not naive enough to believe he would take less to stick around. But a man with all too rare integrity who has already banked many, many millions would.
  20. I've spent some time looking, haven't found anything to support that. That bolsters my view that he should be super grateful come contract talk time. Of course this all assumes that he is pitching as well come late Sept as he is now.
  21. I don't recall reading of any other suitors lining up after he got hurt and MIL released him when his contract expired. Perhaps I missed it. My recollection was that he was dangling out there quite a while, and then MIL decided to try and make it work.
  22. Everybody loves the fairytale story of his overcoming the massive shoulder injury. He's come back to initial success. Should he maintain that effectiveness for the rest of the season, he's going to be a prized free agent. I have no doubt he will jump to the highest bidder as soon as possible. But am I the only one that feels like that would be a grossly ungrateful "thanks suckers" move? - "Thanks for letting me rehab on your very generous dime, that was swell of you, but I'm leaving regardless". Woody would possibly be out of pro ball if the Brewers hadn't offered him a really nice contract knowing they were paying for nothing for almost half of its duration.
  23. We just relocated back to WI a few years ago. Probably passed by Isaac Collins shopping around Arbor Lakes. LOL. Royce made a big splash introduction banging all those HRs, but unfortunately has battled Garrett Mitchell disease practically ever since. For a budget minded team like MIL, yeah, Castro would be a high quality pickup. Was trade joking with my son - the Twins need pitching and we need some power at 3B, so welcome aboard Brooks Lee. He didn't find that funny.
  24. I've heard Castro being suggested a few times around the net. My family has split loyalties between MIL and MN, so I see / hear a lot of Twins ball. Castro would be a solid add at probably a fairly reasonable price. Not a big splash, but good bang for the buck most likely. Brings a little bit of power upgrade for the OF and super utility. My son and mother in law would be awfully disappointed though.
  25. Rewarding an improving player who has been pretty good lately with less playing time does seem backwards, but it happens. Durbin has earned his spot as the roster currently exists, but trades alter the roster makeup obviously. If Contreras wasn't having a down year, he might be hanging around 12 HRs. If Mitchell was available and producing as expected he might be be contributing 10-15 HRs by this point. If Rhys wasn't having a down power year, he might be around 16. If those things were so, I'd be quite content leaving Durbin at 3B for the time being. But we know the reality. True, they are winning without all that power currently, but I wouldn't count on that continuing when Oct rolls around. Regardless, I'm fine if they don't upgrade at 3B too.
