  1. Unsure why Ortiz would be in the trade for Castro as he is probably better than Castro?
  2. Would love Soriano and he seems to make a lot of sense as a mid-rotation controllable guy. If Quero or Dinges plus Crow plus a lower level lottery ticket or two could be a real thing, that is dealing straight out of the system's depth in the way it should be utilized.
  3. Unless the new contract messes with that too? Really have concerns the Brewers type of edges are what the next contract is going to attack.
  4. KLaw tends to give player upside & potential heavy weight, with age as a factor. Thinking that way, having Frias being mentioned this early says to me that Keith thinks his ceiling is really high.
  5. That early season juiced ball they were testing whacks out overall numbers. It is a great stat to look at. I would wonder across other systems how they look this year for that start.
  6. Poor guy. I mean, yes the majors, but also likely -- pending other injuries -- to be released again in a few weeks to open up that 40 man spot.
  7. As much as all of these things, that age of 21 is such a big deal!
  8. I wonder. The thought I had about an extention now is that the team is out of town until the end of this week. But ... hopeful!
  9. You mentioning the names triggered a question for me ... did anyone think it was strange that Payne hit the list but Fischer still hasn't? I guess to me that is saying that we generally are overrating him and his big power start this season. Thoughts?
  10. Agreed. And they sorta seem they are thinking that way as well with Bauers getting some OF starts in Houston. If Vaughn for Frelick is a regular lineup change, that will definitely help lengthen the batting order.
  11. I had thought in the spring he was solidly in the running for the 3B job, but obviously wasn't the case. Love that line about the numbers in the minors being all liars this year!
  12. I've been thinking that they may be getting a feel whether Fischer can play 3B (and Adamczewski play LF) before any elevation.
  13. Super interesting to see Lara, Adamczewski, and even Burke rated as high as they are!
  14. He really doesn't seem to, even in interviews. Serious guy, pitching seriously well. Love the tandem type role that he and Patrick are being used in. Great use of having so many starters!
  15. I would've had Pena in LF ... except now it seems Adamczewski is bookmarked for there. So who is playing 2B? With potential power guys to play 3B, why wouldn't Pratt/Made be the middle infield?
  16. Ugh. The 6 year control changing would be completely a pro-big market team issue. I guess that type of thing would completely show that any small market owners who don't fight it do not care about making their teams good. It would be interesting to see that, at a time when the US major sports are all opening to more and more world involvement, as that would be MLB really changing the Latin American systems. Which - to be fair - currently is such an interesting balance .... you pay big $$ money for young kids, and also tap even younger kids (12yr olds!) into an environment to build toward those paydays. But those kids also have to deal with infrastructure, culture, and many other issues, to perhaps peak in A ball somewhere. Quite the balance of good/bad, currently.
  17. Dude just needs something off speed enough that Murph will let him face the lineup the 3rd time.
