  1. Also. Unsure Quero is actually MLB ready defensively. Unless OK defense is your perspective. The reports I've seen about this last year are not as encouraging as the 2024 reports would have been, pre-injury.
  2. Interesting ... in the tiny aspect that I buy Pena not being included (a "year" behind Made due to position questions and the late season struggles in Wisconsin). Otherwise, great points. Unsure what is right, but really good questions.
  3. Also really interesting thoughts. Made AND Fischer both essentially jumping over Cooper Pratt, who is likely to start '26 in AAA. He may hit like Ortiz, but his D is also really good.
  4. Thinking Burke is holding the spot that 1 of those 3 would fill. Each had different hot stretches in Biloxi this year. Which one steps up in '26?
  5. 3 times in the first 45+ years as a franchise was a big issue. Phenomenally spoiled we are nowadays. Would you rather be the Cubs with their 2016 WS win ... and then no playoffs again until 2025? 8 years in a row without making the playoffs? I guess personally I feel a 90+ win regular season with a playoff team that loses is significantly less disappointing than a team around .500.
  6. Adamczewski planned for Biloxi starting day 1? That would help the OF.
  7. I'm not getting that. To my mind, 1 year of control, even for a top 5 pitcher in the league, at a super low salary number, is not worth a young player with a ton of tools who played a solid season in the league at age 22. That seems like something teams would've learned from Jeff Bagwell & John Smoltz that it doesn't make sense.
  8. So to get Cam Smith, who is a season older than Chourio - which I think is a good cycle to be on - it would be a year of cheap Freddy, plus ??? Not a top prospect, but maybe one or two of the sub 20 year old pitchers? Or is that not enough?
  9. Always unhappy to see this kids, and their potential, move on.
  10. Isn't it actually the media and their takes on the off season that the Crew are "supposed to measure up to"? The front office and their systems have earned our trust.
  11. Defense, no? Also finding guys with individual strengths is likely a factor.
  12. Concur that Jansen back, at least as an option in the beginning of the season, would be a good idea.
  13. Yes, except a bit of Megill's "value" is in perception. 100mph fastball with the closer role has good value with (some? many?) teams. Would think he could be swapped for a bit higher return.
  14. Had wondered why he was as much overslot as he was.
  15. Agreed. So interesting. At the time of the trade, was really irritated they dealt Holobetz. But their pitching, at that level, is so deep ... I guess that makes sense to offer from that level.
  16. Those guys who make the majors young always have surprisingly long & effective careers.
  17. Would be super surprised if Dorchies or Cairone would get above even AA in 2026. Quite happy, but very surprised.
  18. Ok, I guess I have some additions: Has Mike Boeve's hitting ability been maxed out now? Where he has reached the highest level he is going to hit .300(+)/.400/.450? I thought he had some Wade Boggs-ian potential, but now am concerned he will struggle to get higher than AA. Or is it only injuries which have stopped him? Not that it probably matters, as he seems he will hit, but what position do you think Luis Pena will eventually wind up in? 2B? CF? LF? 3B? (Unsure about Made's arm vs. Pena's to include 3B as an option) Also, do you know enough about Jesus Made's personality to say whether you think he would sign a 8yr/$100MM deal after the lockout, if he is in about Chourio's situation of a 2026 year in AA, and <may> be ready for the majors in '27? Or if Cooper Pratt is playing SS, will he be willing to play 2B or 3B, or will that be an irritation? Looking forward to whenever you all come out with this!
  19. Bumping out of line, but completely love these questions!!
  20. We are starting to get to the point where the first "young guys" (Turang, Contreras) (?Mitchell?) are at time when the front office would be smart to offer longer term extended deals ... with a bunch more guys waiting in the wings (Frelick). This will be an interesting test to see if the FO is just always going to play young players to save money, or if some getting-older guys will get paid a bit more and the FO will keep them around.
  21. 2 thoughts. Regarding Big Woo. It never fails to interest me how multiple times he & the front office seem to both just relax and trust each other. He's hurt and a free agent, and it is a ways into the off season, what is he doing and where is he going, oh, he just signed a 2 year deal with the Crew. And now they give him a huge QO - likely because they talked and knew he was going to take it ... and trusted each other. I personally think they even know the next step with him, contact-wise. Have just consistently been amazed by that. And regarding the pitching staff, it makes a lot of sense how you laid it out. 6 man rotation (or 5 1/2, with Freddy starting on a bit more regular pattern, perhaps). Some younger guys available in AAA. Similar pen. I do think they will cast around in March for another undervalued FA starter, and likely a AAA pen guy, just as good value options. They are getting to the point, with the prospect depth, that they may not be forced to chase outside the system. That is a great thing. And due to the cost of the prospects, I'm sure the FO thinks so too.
