  1. Alou now admits he wouldn't have caught the infamous Bartman Ball. What a jerk! Why wait 5 years to admit this will all Bartman has gone though.
  2. Thanks for the input MJ, I'm gonna go and try to dink around with it now. Hopefully I can get something to work.
  3. I don't know if anyone else mentioned this because I haven't read through the whole thread, but does anyone else think Gagne may have been sick? After he gave up the hit to Lee he was crouched behind the mound and it looked like he was about to puke. Then for the rest of the inning he was strangely fanning his face. I was thinking maybe he was having hot flashes or something when he was fanning his face... but then I remembered him crouching behind the mound. Maybe he's got the flu bug also.
  4. This may be a really stupid question, but I am pretty dumb when it comes to technology. But I was wondering if there is any way to transfer what I have DVR'd on my DirecTV box, and burn that onto a DVD? I have a DVD burner on my computer, so I would have to transfer it on there first. Is this possible? Or do I have to go back to the old VHS? Thanks!!
  5. From what I've heard, and from my personal experience, he is very different in person than you would expect after hearing him on the radio. Last season at spring training I waited after a game till he came down from the booth. I was the only person around, and when he came down he had 2 police officers with him. I quick asked him for his autograph, he quick grabbed my ball, signed it, and walked away without even looking up at me, let alone saying anything. But I guess if you think about it, he's been hounded for autographs for years, so it must get old. Add the stalker situation to that, you'd expect he'd be leary of people.
  6. How about Pretty Fly for a White Guy by The Offspring?? "All the girlies say he's pretty fly for a white guy!"
  7. Is it possible that McClung is next on the way out? Once Gallardo comes off the DL, could McClung be released or traded and Villanueva moved back to the pen? I kind of agree this move is weird. We had an overabundance of starters, and now we have 5 healthy starters, hopefully we can add Gallardo to that soon. Could John Patterson now be an option if he'll sign a minor league deal?
  8. I'm also looking for a general parking pass. So if anyone else has one available, pm me please.
  9. I don't believe much of what the organization says about a player, they just try to build the player up. But I do think Ted Simmons is a very intelligent man, and knows a good catching prospect when he sees one. During the last telecast, when Rottino was put in behind the plate, Bill and Brian made the comment that Simmons believed Rottino could become a real good catcher. One example they used, and I don't remember the exact times, was throwing to second base. They were saying the average catcher had a time of 1.5 seconds from the ball going glove to glove down to second. They said Rottino was 1.35 seconds, which is the time of Pudge Rodriguez. I know there are other parts to catching, but at least he as one part down that our every day catchers have been pretty bad at of late.
  10. 50% or more of NFL players won a state championship in high school? No way! That's crazy. I'd even say 20% would be very high. And 10-15% won a NCAA championship? Adding to what JJHardy7 said... say there's 80 players on a college team. And say the average shelf life of an NFL player is 6 years. That's 480 players that have won a national championship in that time frame. So, according to your %'s, 35-53% (170/480 and 254/480) of each national championship team would need to be in the NFL. Just looking at the Packers roster right now, and not doing any research, I'd say between 3-6 of the 74 men on the roster now won a NCAA national championship. I'd say the correct % is between 5-8%
  11. I read somewhere that Yost isn't going to skip the 5th starter, or try to get Sheets pitching on 4 days rest if they have an off day. So if that's the case, move all those starters up a spot with Villanueva/Capuano pitching on 4/2, and you have Vargas pitching the home opener! If that happens, I'm going to cry!! I highly doubt that happens, but you never know.
  12. The Brewers would be stupid to not open up more seating. I estimated the terrace reserve section to be approximately 21,000 seats (25 rows x 20 seats x 42 sections). That's more than half the stadium. If they had 40,000+ fans at fan fest last year, why not try to maximize profit? And if they don't, there will be many angry fans that can't make it to fan fest.
  13. The thing that bothers me about this event, is they don't tell you who is signing where and with whom. In past years, they have distributed a little booklet when you go in the door that tells what players will be there. That used to be fine because if the player you were aiming for was with another player you needed something to sign, you could just run back out to your car and get it. Now, with there being tickets and thus no re-entry, you are forced to lug stuff around with you even for players you don't have a chance of getting. So what I'm saying is if I have a ball for Gagne, a bat for Hart, and a bobblehead for Weeks... I'll have to carry all 3 things in just in case 2 of those 2 are together. It would be nice if they released a schedule a day or so in advance.
  14. In past years, and from the sounds of it this year, everyone signs. They have specific places around the park where they sign in groups of 2. In past years they staggered the signings so there was a possibility you could make it through 2 lines. But this year it sounds like they are all signing at the same time, so you'll probably only get through 1 line.
  15. Well... Gammons was just giving the Brewers some MAJOR props during the Dodgers/Braves game today. Gammons, Kruk, and Phillips were giving their 6 teams to look out for in each league, and even before they put the graphic on the screen, Gammons said something like "Look out for the Brewers this year!" Then he went on to say that he thought the addition of Kendall would be huge. He said that he thought Capuano would rebound this year because of the addition of Kendall. The new possible batting order with Kendall batting 9th and Braun batting second was also mentioned. He finished off by saying that if Sheets could rebound and make 30 starts, the Brewers already have "the best lineu... one of the best lineups in the game."
  16. I believe that's Riske.
  17. When I was young I used to send cards out to football players. About 2 years ago I got a self-addressed stamped envelope in the mail and was like "what is this?" I opened it up and it was a couple Cortez Kennedy autographed cards. I was shocked, because not only had it been like 12-14 years, but he took the time to add postage!! So yeah, don't give up hope.
  18. Did they finally show that on Mythbusters? Yeah, they did it on Mythbusters maybe 6 weeks ago, and it took off. It's because the wheels of the airplane don't power the plane, the propeller does. So the conveyor belt could be going much faster than the plane propeller, and it would still take off because the wheels would just be going as fast as the conveyor belt, plus the speed of the propeller. I don't know if that makes sense, but I tried.
  19. That's what I thought too when I looked at the pictures, but weren't the pictures last year kind of like that too? I don't know if they were as bad as this years, but they looked considerably different than what they handed out.
  20. They now have pictures up on the Brewers website of the first 3 bobbleheads, Prince, Braun, and the Polish. The Prince is pretty cool. He's wearing a crown!!
  21. I got Lasik almost 2 years ago at Anderson and Shappiro in Madison, and I agree that it was the best decision of my life. I had my surgery done at 8am on the first Thursday of the NCAA basketball tournament. I was done by 9... and I slept the whole way home, and slept for an hour at home. By the time the first games of the tournament started at around 11am, I could lay on the couch and watch the tv with no problems. It was unbelievable. I have astigmatisms, and with how much I was spending on special contacts and on glasses, it has almost paid for itself already. I had 20/15 vision (which is better than perfect) the next day when I had to go back in for a checkup, and still after 2 years have 20/15. If you are interested, I'd assume most places give free consultations. It can't hurt to go in to see what they say.
  22. Ha... Don't worry, I get it all the time. I think I'm the only Miles fan left. I followed him big time in high school, and have been a big fan of him ever since. I know he sucks, and may not ever recover from his knee injury, but he's still my boy!! But as for Dillon, I don't believe he has proven much... but what he has proven is that he has a little pop in his bat. And quite frankly, he looks like Babe Ruth next to Nunez, Counsell, Munson, and Gwynn. But our bench is just weak. I've been hoping that Melvin would trade our extra SP for some minor league help, but some bench help is needed as well. This may sound dumb, but a Matt Stairs would look good to me right about now.
  23. Listening to Melvin and Yost the last couple weeks on Talking Brewers, and reading the new article on the Brewers website about the 08 bench, the name Joe Dillon has not come up very often. Both Melvin and Yost talked about Kapler and Nunez, and both failed to mention Joe Dillon. I'm a little worried the they are going to go into the season with Nunez, Counsell, Munson, Kapler, and Gwynn on the bench, with Gross doing a lot of the starting. That is 4 much needed lefties on the bench, but 5 pretty weak hitters at that. I know Dillon isn't a world beater, but at least he has some pop in his bat. Nothing like runners on in the 9th, 2 out, and the pitchers spot coming up. "Pinch hitting for the Brewers, #??, Abraham Nunez." I'd almost rather have Gallardo batting than Nunez. Anyone else worried about this? Not just about Dillon making/not making the team, but about our bench in general? I think I am in a very small minority that likes Kapler as a bench guy, but the rest of the bench could be brutal.
