  1. Does Kotsay's roster bonus kick in at midnight tonight? Or does he have to be on the roster to start tomorrow's game? If it's the former, we probably would have heard if he had been released already. Wouldn't another option be to send out Dillard or Estrada, and then bring back McClendon after the weekend? As much as I'd like to see them try to improve the bench, it just seems like Melvin has been been content with what we have. It's kinda sad, but true.
  2. I wouldn't recommend this. Uecker does sign balls through the mail, but you don't get the ball back that you send. He signs the balls as a bunch, and then randomly puts them back in envelopes.
  3. Not saying he's been a world beater, but McGehee quietly has an 8 game hitting streak.
  4. First off... Bogut may be only 26 years old, but he has already shown that he has back issues that have cost him significant time. The chances of those getting better with age are slim. And now with his elbow problems, who knows if he's ever going to be the same player he was even 2 seasons ago. And who else on the Bucks has value? The Bucks can't say "Hey... I'll give you Maggette and #10 for #2. Deal?" The Bucks pretty much have 2 players who could acquire them a high pick, Bogut and possibly Jennings. I'm not the biggest Jennings fan, but he's still young and doesn't have the injury problems Bogut has. And I believe he has dedicated himself to Milwaukee, as I believe he's staying in Milwaukee this summer. I think Bogut plus #10 is too much to move up to #2. But I think Bogut for #2 would be a good deal. Or even Bogut and #10 for #2 plus a couple younger players like Wes Johnson. I guess I just don't see the reason the Bucks should stand pat this year. Miami, Chicago, Boston, Orlando, New York, and Atlanta are all playoff locks, and head and shoulders better than the Bucks. So the Bucks are battling for the 7th and 8th seed with Philly, Indiana, Charlotte, and NJ so we can get the crap kicked out of us by Chicago, Miami, or Boston in the first round. And then we're stuck with a pick from 10-16 and have no chance to improve again next year. It just seems to be this continuous cycle with the Bucks. If we were in the West, the Bucks would clearly be the 3rd worst team and have no shot at the Playoffs.
  5. I'll preface this post by saying that I'm a HUGE Derrick Williams. I've been hoping he would somehow wind up with the Bucks since early December. But I would LOVE this trade. I agree with trwi... this team needs to rebuild. And it doesn't really bother me that this is a weak draft. We need to start someplace. If we make this trade, and start rebuilding this year, it's not just setting us up for this draft. If a couple superstar type players were coming out this year, do you really think the T-Wolves would be considering trading their pick? The only way the Bucks are going to get a superstar player is to suck and get a top pick. So next year at this time... we could be coming into the draft with a 10-16 draft choice, stuck in mediocrity. OR we could start rebuilding, possibly have a top 5 pick, and already have a Williams/Kanter in the fold. I've been wondering for a while if a Bogut trade was really a possibility. Every promotion or publication they put out features Jennings. In the past they have had a wide variety of players... so in my mind that means Jennings is the only player sure to be around next year. But that's just how my mind works.
  6. It sounds like the Mariners are bringing up Dustin Ackley, and MLBTradeRumors.com mentions that the Mariners may now be looking to trade Jack Wilson. Are we interested?
  7. Looking at the forecast tomorrow, it looks like they'll be lucky to get one in tomorrow. I had planned on going tomorrow, but changed my mind after looking at the weather.
  8. Ok... the Nats just won. But they are up 2, with 2 outs in the 9th. Theriot is on second, and they intentionally walk Pujols to get to Berkman. They walk the tying run to bring up the winning run?! VERY interesting.
  9. Did anyone go to the Block Party Saturday? Who was there? Were there lots of people?
  10. I'm headed down on Thursday. I do have a question though... I'll be coming from the Madison area, and someone once told me that there was a train northwest of the city that they hopped on and it took them to right near Wrigley. Does anyone know the location of this train? Or any other helpful hints? I've been down to Wrigley a few times, but I just don't feel like dealing with rush hour on the way home! Thanks a lot!
  11. I believe I remember reading an interesting fact about him when he was in the minors. He started off his career as a right handed throwing catcher. During his time in the minors, he tore his right rotator cuff. But instead of having surgery to get it repaired, he taught himself how to throw lefty. And he finished his baseball career throwing lefty.
  12. I'm doing a bicycle scavenger hunt this weekend, and there is a quiz to determine starting positions. I'm stuck on 2 questions referring to Dirt Rag Magazine. So if anyone is by chance subscribed to that magazine, could you please contact me? But one of the questions is "What bike racer was depicted on Dirt Rag issued #30's cover?" I've found the cover, but have no idea who the person is. I figured maybe some in the BrewerFan community would have an idea. Thanks a lot! http://www.dirtragmag.com/sites/default/files/imagecache/product_full/images/30cover.jpg
  13. McCalvy just tweeted that Kintzler was optioned to Nashville, but won't announce a corresponding move until tomorrow. So I'm guessing Estrada will be that move and get the start.
  14. I know this is a SMALL consolation... but I believe the game will be on DirecTv channel 720... but on a very small screen. But it's better than nothing.
  15. Will anyone have an extra 2011 Brewers Magnet Schedule from Opening Day that I could buy? PM me if you'll have an extra. Thanks a lot!
  16. We went to the PGA last fall when it was in WI and that was my first PGA golf tournament. It totally depends on what you want to do. Following guys like Tiger or Phil is tough because they have so many followers. It seemed like it would be hard to get a good view of them most times. But if you wanted to follow one of the less popular guys, it really isn't a problem to get a good view of each shot. What we did was parked ourself by the tee box of a par 3, and we thought that was pretty cool. We got to see everyone pass by, and then you could also see how they finished the hole. If I were to go again, this is what I would do again. We were close enough that we could hear the conversations between the players and their caddy. It was a good time and I hope you have a good time!
  17. I'm guessing the reason those on Legends are Private is because they are taking the things down to Chicago for Sun Times show. That's probably where the pricing came from too.
  18. I was told my my ticket rep last week that season ticket holders would still get a presale opportunity, and information on that would be sent out early this week.
  19. It's a charity event... and I'm pretty sure they are trying to raise as much money as possible for the charity. I'm sorry, but collectors aren't ruining events like this. They are the ones that make events like this. If it weren't for the people collecting autographs, this event would not happen.
  20. I got mine done at Anderson and Shapiro on the east side almost 4 years ago and love it. My experience with them was great. I had mine done at 8 in the morning on the first Thursday of March Madness... and I was mad because I thought I wouldn't be able to watch any of the games that day. Well, I was home by 9:30, and after a short 45 minute nap I could lay on the couch and see the tv clear as day. You're required to go in the next day for a follow up exam and I had 20/15 eye sight. I would definitely recommend them.
  21. I read up on this last night and was on the fence about this. But this morning I'm nothing but stoked. I get that a lot of people are nervous about how bare our farm system is, but the system could be re-stocked rather quickly. We have 2 first round picks in 2011. If/When Prince leaves, we'll most likely have 3 picks in the top 40 in 2012. And after 2011 the Brewers will have a decision to make with Greinke, if they don't feel they can re-sign him. They can either trade him after 2011 and possibly get some top prospects back, or they can let him walk after 2012 and probably get another 3 picks in the top 40 in 2013. So they will have a big opportunity to restock the system rather quickly in the next few years. I understand those players will take time to develop, but we'll have players back in our system.
  22. No... the face is $65 each. I don't expect to get that, but if you're interested... make an offer.
  23. I have 2 extra tickets to the Bucks home opener on October 30 at 7:30. The tickets are in Section 211, Row N. I paid face value for the tickets, with is $64.35, and would like to get as close to that as possible. But if you're interested, make me an offer.
  24. With September being only a couple of days away, they must have wanted to add someone to the 40-man pretty bad. I'm just throwing it out there, but would a Lawrie September call up make sense? Get the guy a few big league at bats.
