  1. My computer does have a firewall, but I've messed around with that and I don't think that's the problem. The anti-virus I have is straight from the Verizon service, so I'm not sure if that has a firewall. I guess I didn't know that was possible... but would make sense if it was. I'm not even sure how to look to see if the Verizon anti-virus has a firewall. Ha... I'm just confused, and I'm sure this paragraph makes me sound confused!!
  2. Ok, let me preface this post by saying that the book "Computers for Dummies" was written for a person like me!! But I have had this problem for quite a while now, and it's come to the point where I need to do something about it. So, instead of taking it somewhere, I'm hoping someone here will be able to help me. About a year ago, I got Verizon high speed internet. Prior to that, everything on my computer worked great. I didn't have problems with anything. But the moment I switched to Verizon, a few programs I used quite regularly wouldn't work... and all for the same reason. They are all programs that you need to download to run (such as HouseCall Virus Scanner and my P2P downloading program). I can download the program, but when I try to start it, they for some reason can not connect to the internet. The reason I bring this up now is because I was just forced to download the new MSN Messenger, and now the new version won't connect to the internet. For this problem, it gives 2 "fixes." 1 is to check my firewall settings and the other is to adjust the proxy. I checked the firewall exceptions, and MSN Messenger is already on the list... so that should be fine. As for the proxy settings, it gives instructions on how to fix this for IE, but I use Firefox... so I tried to copy the steps, but I don't know how successful I was. But as far as I can tell, the problem is not with my firewall or proxy settings. Does anyone have any other ideas? I would be grateful.
  3. In that link lodiness provided, it talks about the signing. It says "Visit the Brewers Charities/Doug Melvin Bobble Raffle Table, located along the Field Level Concourse (Section 123) anytime up to 12:45 p.m. and for a $5 donation, Doug Melvin will autograph one item per fan." So there's the info everyone needs.
  4. I heard this too, and what I heard is that he will be signing from when the gates open till the game starts. To get his autograph, you have to buy a raffle ticket which is $5 I believe. That's what I heard... not sure if it's correct though.
  5. I have an extra Podsednik if you're interested. PM me if you're interested.
  6. I'd just like to throw this out there, and see if anyone else heard this interview. I was talking to my dad yesterday, and he said they had Peter Gammons on the radio. They were talking about the Brewers, and Gammons said Macha was as good as gone. They then asked him who he believed would replace Macha... and his answer floored both myself and my dad. He said he thought Tony LaRussa would replace Macha. LaRussa is apparently not getting along with the StL management, and Gammons sees this being his last year in StL. And he believes if Milwaukee offered him a job, he would gladly take it. My initial reaction was "No way!! I have a better chance of winning the lottery than LaRussa coming to Milwaukee." But Gammons does have some nice sources. Did anyone else hear this interview? And would people be happy with LaRussa/Duncan coming to Milwaukee?
  7. I just checked my email, and I had an email from the Brewers telling me that tickets for the Brewers On-Deck 2010 go on sale tomorrow. The event isn't until January 31. Why in the world are they starting to sell tickets for this already?! The event is 5 months away. What is the sense of getting tickets this early?
  8. Ha... I was just reading back through this thread, and thought this was kind of comical. Those were the good ol' days when you could get 3-4-5 autographs every Friday! And to comment on Fielder on Friday, I was around 70th in line... and I was through the line in 8 minutes. He was BOOKING!! He had to have gotten through more than 150 in the time he signed.
  9. I have 2 extra tickets to the September 3rd TimberRattlers game against the Cedar Rapids Kernals. The tickets are grass seating and this game is the Brett Lawrie bobblehead game. $10 for the pair. PM me if you're interested. Thanks
  10. I know there's a fat chance of this, but I thought I'd ask anyways. I really want to get my Felipe Lopez bobblehead signed. And living north of Madison, it's not possible for me to make it to the Parra/Lopez signing next Wednesday. Is there by chance anyone that is going that wouldn't mind getting my bobblehead signed for me? I'd be willing to pay a little if need be. Send me a message if you'd do this for me!
  11. Does anyone know if they actually get though all 150 wristbands at the block parties?
  12. Ok... this is probably a really stupid question. But I recently got Verizon high speed internet. I had Charter for a long time, but decided to make the switch. I love Verizon... it's great, but ever since I made the change, I have not been able to connect to certain things. For example, it won't let me connect to AVG. It says it "can not find a working internet connection." I've had this problem with a couple other programs too. Or if I try to download music, it won't connect. Can anyone help?
  13. I VERY highly doubt UW-L got paid very handsomely go to play North Dakota. And North Dakota is hardly a D1 school. 2008 was their first year playing D1-AA schools... the same schools that go play the big boys just to keep their teams in operation.
  14. I just hope that if we trade Hardy, we don't see an infield of Fielder, Lopez, Counsell, and McGehee more often than not.
  15. Anderson said they were the Atlanta Black Crackers.
  16. I didn't get one from the stadium, but I got one off eBay. I'm glad I got it right away because prices are up between $10-20. It's a pretty cool bobblehead, as I think it actually looks just like him. My only complaint is that they squeezed it into a box that seems to be about a centimeter bigger than the bobblehead.
  17. I have 2 tickets for the Friday, July 24th game for sale. Something came up, and I am not able to attend. The tickets are Section 325, Row 4... which is just to the first base side of home plate, and in a section with a waitstaff. The face on the tickets is $40 each. PM me if you're interested.
  18. I just don't understand this sentiment. In the offseason... maybe. But right now? If Hart is traded, who replaces him in right? We have Gerut and Catalanotto as options. And if Hardy is traded, who in the world is going to play short? Macha seems to refuse to play 2 rookies on the infield at the same time (Gamel and McGehee), so he is definitely not going to be playing 3!
  19. I'm on the fence about a Halladay trade. On one hand: The Brewers need pitching desperately... and not only for this year, but for next year as well. There is no way they can sign a top of the rotation guy; so to acquire a top of the rotation guy, they need to give up something. And in my opinion, Halladay would REALLY have to hate Milwaukee not to stay because if the Brewers trade for him, he's going to get the Sabathia treatment the rest of the year (sell outs every time he pitches, huge ovations, just lots of love from the fan base). To add to that, he'll be on a competitive team. So if you add Halladay, we will probably have a very similar team next year, starting players and rotation anyways. So you go with that for the rest of this year and next... and then, in my opinion, the end of the road with Fielder comes. Unless he's willing to sign a deal for another couple years, the Brewers HAVE to trade him so they don't just get 2 picks for him. So that will be an opportunity for the team to get some promising prospects at needed positions. On the other hand: Trading top prospects is ALWAYS a huge risk for the Brewers. If we trade for Halladay today and he blows out his arm and needs Tommy John tomorrow, the team is absolutely screwed. It gave up it's future for the present, and now the present is gone. And also the obvious, it gave up cheap players for 1.5 years. I guess at this point, I'd be leaning towards making the trade. As frustrated with Hardy as I am, I don't consider him a .220 hitter and have to think he's going to break out of it. And I think Hart has the potential to raise his average 15-20 points. Thus, I believe our offense will be fine, and improve a bit... but will still be frustrating at times. We play St. Louis 9 times in the last month, so anything is possible. And it would sure help our chances if we could throw Gallardo and Halladay against them 5-6 times in the last month.
  20. I'm not trying to disagree with you guys, cuz I've gotten Fielder a number of times... but what does this make the 99% of Brewers fans who have not gotten his autograph think after reading the above posts? "Boy, it's sure nice that Fielder will sign for 20-30 minutes in for the fans in Chicago. And it's great that he signs for fans in Arizona. And it's great that he signs 25%(which I think is high) of the time at the players lot. But every time he is scheduled to sign for fans in his home town of Milwaukee, he doesn't show up! Seems like he has time for fans in other cities... but not for us!" Cuz Realistically, what percentage of fans go to Chicago, Arizona, or the players lot? I personally don't have a problem with him not signing. But if he doesn't want to sign... don't put him on the list! It doesn't have anything to do with him signing elsewhere. I would be upset with the guy too if I was one of the people at the last 2 block parties who showed up at 4am to get Fielder, only to find out he isn't showing. Or the people who get to the park before noon for autograph Fridays. I'm just very relieved I looked at the Block Party list before I headed out the door at 5am on Saturday...
  21. I seriously laughed out loud when I read Melvin's comment "I'll be glad to have Ryan help if he wants to. I'll give him a badge and he can be my deputy." There's a new t-shirt idea. A shirt with a little badge on the front chest, and "DEPUTY" on the back nameplate, with "8" below it.
  22. 2000 people?! Wow... I was there and didn't think there were that many. But I thought the event was run VERY smoothly this year. I was able to make it through 2 lines, and left just as they were saying 15 minutes left, so I probably could have made it through a third line. But all in all, it was a fun time.
  23. Turbo- I thought the same thing when I saw the prices at the beginning of the season. It just seems not too long ago it was $6 for general and $8 for preferred! Sale pending to brains and braun.
  24. I have an extra preferred parking pass for the Friday, June 12 game against the White Sox that I would like to sell for $12. This is a marquee series, so preferred parking the day of the game is $25. PM me if interested.
  25. I just went to the Remetee site, and I'm not a big fan of the t-shirts. But I think the board shorts they have on there are pretty cool. In my opinion, those designs look better on shorts. But $80 for a pair of board shorts is a bit pricey!!
