  1. And it will be. The time period to vote goes to one week after the deadline. That way people can tweak their lists if necessary. Also, I asked people to simply include extra guys in their list in case one or more are traded.
  2. As a note, there are a few players - all relievers - who are on the cusp graduating from 'prospect' status. This includes Perdomo, Cousins and Sanchez. This is primarily because they are approaching the 45 days of service limit. But it's impossible to pinpoint these things exactly - so for the sake of this exercise, all are eligible. Thanks.
  3. Everyone, I want to please be respectful of other peoples' lists. If you want to ask questions, fine. But don't mock or belittle others. Thanks.
  4. Hey, it's time for another prospect poll. We we would like to invite everyone to take part in the 2021 Mid-Season BF.net Fan Community Top 25 Prospects voting. Voting is now open. You need to submit on this thread your top 25 Brewer prospects. Feel free to list any resources or news that you feel might help people with their voting. IMPORTANT: Please include upwards of 30 prospects in your list. This way, if one your guys gets traded before the deadline, we can just bump everyone. As the Brewers will likely be active at this year's deadline, this is VERY important. Voting concludes on August 8. You can change your votes at anytime through that date. This will be especially important if we acquire any prospects in any trades - or lose guys and you don't include extras. RULES 1. Submit your Top 25 prospects (again, a list of 30 is best), in order, by end of day on August 8, 2021. Put the player's full name to avoid any confusion. I appreciate it you would number them. Also, please list your players from #1 to #30. 2. You MUST submit 25 prospects. If there are only 10 or 15 or whatever, your list will not be included. 3. You are encouraged to go beyond pick #25. 30 is best. This way if a player you vote for is released or traded, or you list someone twice, or whatever, we can just bump up your next player. 4. Rankings are determined by total points. The top prospect gets 25 points, second prospect gets 24 points, etc. 4. As noted above, if you submit your list and want to change something, just add the change to the thread via the edit function. I'll accept changes up to the deadline. 5. Within a week or so after the deadline, we'll publish the new BF.net Community Top 25. Eligibility guidelines Rookie eligibility is determined by the same standards as MLB: “A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list).” - Players graduated from Top 25 list: No one! - Other players who have exceeded rookie limits: Tyrone Taylor (finally!) - Eligible players with ML experience: Angel Perdomo, Justin Topa, Alec Bettinger, Corey Ray, Mario Feliciano, Miguel Sanchez, Aaron Ashby, Zach Green, Jake Cousins, Patrick Weigel - Ineligible players: Pablo Reyes, Hoby Milner, Tim Lopes, Jandel Gustave, Ryan Weber If there are any questions, please ask in the thread. 5. Guardians? Meh. Whatever. I like the rock n roll museum tie in - the Rocks would have been great. So stupid on one hand - I mean as noun - it's a rock. But as a verb - it's brilliant. Have a little flying V guitar as the logo. Or even a fist pumping in the air. So stupid it would be great. They could have had so much fun with the rock n roll stuff. Twisted Sister's "I wanna rock". Freaking gold. And the tie into Charlie Brown's Halloween would have been priceless:
  6. Cap issues almost invariably undo most good teams - sooner or later. It's why you have to draft well. You need those guys who can contribute at a - relatively - cheap cost.
  7. As a note, the max money the Bucks can offer Bobby Portis next year is $5.9M - the taxpayer mid-level exception. We only have Non-Bird rights on him (and Forbes), which doesn't let us re-up them over available cap space (which for us is the taxpayer mid-level exception). https://hoopshype.com/lists/bucks-offseason-preview-kyle-lowry-rumors-richaun-holmes-free-agency/ Portis could take the lower amount, and hope to cash in next off season - when we would have Early Bird Rights - and sign him for much higher. But if someone comes to him with a 3-year/$30M+ type offer - I can't blame him for taking it.
  8. Bucks are limited on what they can do financially next year. That almost assuredly means DDV will be back. He's a good player - and the club is better with him. But I doubt we are getting anyone else. Portis and Tucker are the next guys on the list. I expect Portis is gone. Someone will give him a lot more money than we will offer - and a bigger role. Can't blame him if he takes it. Tucker is interesting as he is a limited player - but what he does he does very well. Will someone overpay for him? Not sure. He's a good guy to have. The big thing for Milwaukee will be how much they are willing to spend over the luxury cap. In the NBA, going over the cap is pretty harsh. Giannis, Middleton, Holiday, Lopez, DDV and Pat C make $129M. Plus we have $5M in stretched salaries. That means $134M. The estimated Salary Cap next season is $115M. The Luxury cap is $140M. We've got a few young guys to pay minimal money - plus our 2nd round pick. Those will all get us near the Luxury Cap. Once you go past $140M, you pay the following penalties: - $0-5MM above tax line: $1.50 per dollar (up to $7.5MM) - $5-10MM above tax line: $1.75 per dollar (up to $8.75MM) - $10-15MM above tax line: $2.50 per dollar (up to $12.5MM) - $15-20MM above tax line: $3.25 per dollar (up to $16.25MM) Thus, if you give Bobby Portis $10M, and drive your total to $150M - you are then subject to penalties of $14.25M. And so you ask, is Bobby Portis worth nearly $25M? So even though we can resign Portis and Tucker and Forbes - the cost of doing so gets very expensive - very quickly. I think we will do something similar to past year - find veterans willing to fill those slots for near minimum pay. It's not ideal, but that's how things work.
  9. I think the Nets will be the favored team next year - but it's very tentative. And that's most because of age, injury history, plus the whole chemistry thing. Who knows how these guys (Kyrie and Harden, specifically) can shelve their egos for the better of the team. I should add that this is not by a lot. The Bucks will be right up there with them. The Bucks are younger and have played together for a while. You can't beat that sort of experience. No matter, should be fun. Again.
  10. This was fun. Let's do it again in October!
  11. Enjoy it folks. I am 57. I vaguely remember the Bucks winning 50 years ago. I've lived through a lot of bad teams - and some decent ones. But so much has to go right. You just never know when everything will gel. Very happy.
  12. Rich Hill is fascinating. From age 30-35, he threw a total of 105 innings in the Big Leagues. He never made more than $1M in a year until he was 36 years old. He's now made $60M over the last six years. Amazing career path.
  13. What I like about the offense is that it's much more solid. It's not great, but it's solid, and the black holes of April are going away. - Narvaez, Wong, Adames - all hitting .290+. That's great. - Urias has steadily gotten better. I could see him at .260ish and 20 HRs by season's end. That's pretty solid. Same with Avi Garcia. If he's hitting .260 with 25 HR - that's a decent player. - I have to believe Yelich will improve. He's not worthless - just nothing special. But I have to think he'll get better. - JBJ should keep getting better as well. His defense has been really good, but the bat should (please) improve. Even if he hits .230-.240 the rest of the way out - he's decent. - Cain's return will - hopefully - be a good thing. Like Bradley, he doesn't have to hit a ton to be of value. - Peterson (.800 OPS) and Taylor (.760 OPS) have been really good bench players. I'm feel good with them playing. That mostly leaves 1B as a question mark. Let's hope someone steps up. But all in all, the is a solid line up. Not without question marks, but above average in several spots, solid most much of the rest of the way. With our pitching - that's a winning formula.
  14. Correct. You could just work their disable dates and rehab until after Sept 1 - making them eligible to for the September roster and post season play.
  15. For a big man, Gallo is a really good athlete. He would probably be a great 1B. But as noted, you're likely wasting him there.
  16. Honestly, I'd DFA both Shaw and Vogelbach if we had to make a decision tomorrow. But we have until next month on both of them - probably at least around mid-August - at the earliest. We can see how Hiura, Peterson and Rowdy are doing at that point. I just don't see a ton of upside with either of them.
  17. This. Good teams don't make mistakes. And good teams take advantage of their opponents mistakes.
  18. Well done. Although I wonder how many people actually get that.
  19. Regarding Rizzo, I don't think the Qualifying Offer is much of an issue. Unless he improves significantly in the second half, I doubt the Cubs would give him a $19M QO. That's just seems a bit rich - but maybe I'm wrong. The main thing that would drive his price up right now would be the fact that a team like Boston could really use him. He sort of fits perfectly for them as their first base production has been pretty bad - and they could use the lefty bat.
  20. It would be kind of fun to have Rizzo hitting for us in a pennant race.
  21. I'm still wondering about that pick as well.
