  1. No way to Blackmon. The guy is scheduled to make $31M in 22-23. He'll be 35 in a month. For his career, he has a .248 BA and .748 OPS on the road. In Coors, it's .342/.975. He's having a poor 2021 - .250 BA, .733 OPS. His power seems to be greatly diminished. Not a shock for a guy his age. No way I want to get saddled with him. Far too much risk. The only way you take him is if Colorado picks up 90% of his contract or something like that. And that's even assuming he can play 1B.
  2. I'm going to ask people to tone down the conversation on this thread. It's bordering on getting out of hand. Thank you.
  3. I think Tucker is the kind of guy who does what's needed of him. So - as noted - his contributions aren't necessarily going to show up in the box score.
  4. That's just awesome. Thanks for sharing.
  5. At this point, the Packers and Rodgers have to figure this out. Go to Rodgers camp, put the cards on the table, and see if it works. Offer him a new contract, including a 3-year 'guarantee' that he's the team's QB. Yes, he's aging, but I don't think anyone would be afraid to make a three year commitment to him. And figure out how to avoid all the messy situations that have arisen in the past that got Rodgers and the Packers to this point. That most likely means establishing a solid line of communication with him. It's NOT letting him make personnel decisions, but it's making him a part of the process so that he understands when and why things are being done. It's about valuing his input, which I don't see as an issue. Not knowing all the issues makes this one hard to determine - but the club has to say to him they want it to work - so let's figure it out. For the Packers, no matter what happens, they will want to be able to say they did everything in their power to keep Rodgers. "We offered him a raise. We offered him a guarantee that he'd be the QB for at least three years. We offered him increased interactions with the front office and coaching staff to help make sure he had the best team we could assemble around him." At this point, if Rodgers says that doesn't do it for him, and he wants a trade, fine. Say you'll solicit offers after June 1, but be very clear that if the offers aren't what the team deems to be fair, they won't trade him. At that point, Rodgers has to play on his existing contract, or retire. Of course, if Rodgers has unreasonable demands to return - fire Gute or trade for Julio Jones and Odell Beckham Jr - that sort of thing - you just have to say it's not happening. At that point, investigate the trade market, but don't cave unless you get a ton in exchange for him. No matter, the longer this drags out - the worse it is for everyone. If Rodgers waits until camp starts - July 27 - to demand a trade, it's kind of hard to get teams to adjust that close to the season. And holding out is costly - 50k or so a day. Plus a full regular season game check for missing a pre-season game. Plus, if Rodgers really wants to be somewhere else - the earlier it gets done will give him more time to integrate into his new team. The longer he waits - the harder it will be.
  6. Sucks big time. I'm wondering who gets his minutes. Will it be spread around to guys like Connaughton, Tucker and Forbes. Teague has kind of been a forgotten man. Perhaps he gets some more playing time.
  7. Things just go well when Jrue is running things.
  8. Brewers have designated right-hander Josh Lindblom for assignment, recalled lefty Eric Lauer and outrighted infielder/outfielder Jace Peterson https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/05/brewers-designate-josh-lindblom-for-assignment.html
  9. The Packers would likely have enough cap savings post 6/1 to be able to take Carr's contract back in a swap for Rodgers. A subsequent extension would free up more, presumably. What would a Raiders/Rodgers deal look like? Carr+ what? Proposals I have read include: - Carr and two 1st rounders and one 2nd rounder - Carr and three 1st rounders - Carr and two 1st rounders and two 2nd rounders Some proposals even add in a player or two. I don't know much about the LV roster to make a comment on any of their guys - short of TE Darren Waller, who I doubt the club is willing to part with. I posted earlier that a Raiders deal makes a lot of sense - assuming the Packers don't think Love is ready to start. - Carr is still good. A top 10-12 QB. That's not bad, so the club could hope to still win with him - especially if he takes to our offense. He should be able to fit into our salary structure, and we'd have him for two years. That fits the time frame to get Love ready to take over. - Getting 3-4 high draft picks would be a jolt of young talent that we could use over the next few years. - Jon Gruden is the kind of guy who would go all in on Rodgers - and I believe he has total control of personnel. He needs a franchise altering player - and Rodgers is it. Carr is fine - but he's never really loved the guy. He's made comments about not drafting Rodgers was his greatest regret. So time to correct that. He'd say "to heck with the next three years on draft picks. I'll take Rodgers and go for it in that time. After that - I either am fired or a hero. But who cares about those players who I don't even have yet. It's about winning now." - Oakland would be further motivated to overpay to keep Rodgers out of Denver - their rivals. Chargers are up-and-coming with a young QB, Chiefs are obviously really good. Why give the Broncos - who have a lot of young talent - a QB that will transform them into a contender.
  10. What 'trust' has been broken? Why doesn't he trust them? Why does he need to 'trust' them? I'm kind of surprised this is even a question - in particular the last one. Who doesn't want to trust their boss? Who doesn't want to go to work and feel as if they will be supported like they want and expect? No one knows the specifics except for Rodgers and the Packers. But trust tends to erode when people are lied to or deceived. When things are altered beyond what was anticipated. When actions taken erode a person's ability to do their job. Again, I don't know what has gone on between Rodgers and the front office. But it appears he doesn't trust them. Perhaps it's all in his head. But maybe he has experienced some of the above things.
  11. The thing about this whole situation is that Rodgers obviously does not trust Gute and Murphy - and hasn't for a while. So I'll fault the front office (mostly) for not mending those bridges. Your QB is the most important person on your team. He doesn't trust you? Well, figure it out. Figure out who and what you can do to create that trust - even if it is a tenuous bridge. From what I've read, Rodgers doesn't feel there's anyone in the front office that he can trust. That's a foolish thing to let exist in this situation. It should have been addressed ages ago. I'm not absolving Rodgers from his part in this saga. But can't believe management let things deteriorate to this point.
  12. This is - I think - going to be huge.
  13. I'm kind of surprised the Raiders aren't discussed more as a possible trade partner - simply for the reason you could get Derek Carr back. Now, I'm not saying Carr is a great QB - but he would seem like a top 10-12 type QB in the NFL. Add in a couple of 1st round and a couple of 2nd round picks - maybe a player or two. That gives you a good QB with a pretty solid all around team, and a lot of future draft capital. Carr can be QB for a year or two (he has two years on his contract remaining), and gives you plenty of time for Love to (hopefully) be readied as starter. Now, I don't know that much about Carr other than his stats - which are quite good. If I recall, a lot of the criticism is that he never elevated his game into that top tier of QBs. He has been good - not great - and teams want great. Add in the fact that his teams have not won - only one winning season in seven seasons as the starter. Is that a product of bad teams? Carr's play? I want to stress that I'm not advocating for trading Rodgers - just wondering about the Raiders as a destination. The Broncos (the most commonly noted destination for Rodgers) can offer Bridgewater and Lock. The former is meh in my book. The latter was nothing special last season - but perhaps the club would want him over Carr despite his lack of success. Plus, you think that with Jon Gruden running the Raiders, they'd be the prime candidate to overpay for Rodgers (who Gruden loves). It would kill Gruden to see Rodgers playing for a division rival - especially the Broncos. Just killing some time thinking about this stuff.
  14. Were there reports of him stealing signs? I've never heard this. Links would be great to these reports. Thanks. Reports? Not really a report, but Darvish seemed to think that the bullpen was relaying signs to Yelich. https://sports.yahoo.com/yu-darvish-comment-fuels-brewers-signstealing-speculation-christian-yelich-fires-back-234740903.html Thanks for link.
  15. Were there reports of him stealing signs? I've never heard this. Links would be great to these reports. Thanks.
  16. I like Rasmussen and Feyereisen, but I'll take Adames in a heartbeat for them. The guy was a 4.0 WAR player in 2019. 1.9 WAR in 2020 in just 54 games. 4.0 WAR players are good to get. Yes, he's having a tough 2021, but I'm hoping he can rebound. If he can, that gives us a lot of control of a quality SS. I love that idea.
  17. I guess these are what everyone wants to know. The Packers say they offered to make him the highest paid QB or something like that. But what does that mean? It could be a salary of $60M for 2023 - which would technically make him the highest paid QB when you average out his deal. But in reality, there's no way they'd keep him for that salary. It's just bogus year stuff. No matter, I'm guessing he's got a laundry list of petty snubs that he's going to give them - and they'll have to address things in a satisfactory sort of way. But that's just a guess. In the end, who really knows. I still find it mind boggling that things could get to this spot. I mean, they knew he was frustrated by things a year ago. It's called sitting down and figuring out how to make it work. Of course, Rodgers probably sat there and waited for the Packers without helping out with direction is him passive aggressive fashion. But that's the teams job to figure this kind of thing out.
  18. Let us know what you think will be the fate of Aaron Rodgers this offseason.
  19. I haven't watched the Bucks of late - wondering if anyone has any thoughts on PJ Tucker. How's he looking? Numbers have been very modest - but we didn't get him to put up a bunch of points. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks.
  20. Of course not. I doubt anyone believes that. If he's not the Packers future, someone else will want to give him a shot. He'll demonstrate his abilities in practice, in pre-season games, and in regular season games. He isn't just waiting for an injury. If he looks like he is a starting caliber QB - whether that's in one year or two - something will happen. The Packers will elevate him to the job. Or someone will make an offer for him that we will find worth taking. It's foolish to sit on assets if you don't intend to use them.
