  1. Dang it, I can't figure out how to post the actual video...but here's a link. Try not to laugh... Sea Lions
  2. I'm not sure about the second question, but for the first one... Are you connected to the internet? ITunes uses an online database to determine what CD you have put in your computer (I think).
  3. The change of seasons. I personally wouldn't like living in a place where you have one or two seasons in a year. There is something about the colors of fall, the first snowfall (and after this year, the last), the first buds on the trees, people coming outside and being active on the first 60 degree day, and summers that aren't too hot and not too cold. Fall and winter (especially after this year) make me appreciate spring and summer a lot more, so I don't take nice weather for granted.
  4. I've had US Cellular for 6 years now, and I think there has been only one place in the state where I didn't get reception, and that was in the middle of the state. I've had no problems with them.
  5. Michael Hunt came up with a list his top 5 defining moments in Wisconsin sports... http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=722353 Thoughts? Honestly, I'd put winning the 1982 ALCS in the top 5. I can't argue with #1 on his list, and maybe #5 as well. As for the rest...I'd say it's up for debate.
  6. The first time I actually planned a vacation was our trip to Germany. It was tough, but we did it all on our own...no travel company or travel agent. The hardest part was figuring out where to go and booking rooms in hostels. I'd recommend doing a lot of research and reading. I just planned our second true vacation, and I'm a bit nervous about it. This is the first time renting a car for me. We're headed to Arizona. Like you, I wanted somewhere warm, but I didn't want to go to Florida or anywhere in the Gulf (plus my wife needs her passport updated due to her name change, and we didn't want to risk the chance of her not getting it back in time). Not that I've ever been, but I've heard good things about Mexico, like Cancun and Playa del Carmen. I've also heard good things about the smaller islands down there, like St. Martin, St. Kitts, etc...
  7. Brats---I simmer them (not boil) in beer, onions and some garlic until the skins are gray, then grill. Burgers---Just a little Lowry's, that's all I need Chicken---I've tried a lot of things. BBQ sauce, I've made up a nice lime marinade, simply grilling as-is, black pepper, etc... Steak---normally do as-is. Steak is one of those things that is so good on its own, it doesn't need a marinade. Pork chops---a personal favorite of mine in the summer. I have my parents get them when they go down to Iowa. Iowa chops are huge, and so good when cooked properly. A good marinade for chops is brown sugar and soy sauce. Shrimp---lemon juice and pepper. I am going to embark on ribs this summer. It sucks not having your own full-sized grill and being forced to either use my Smoky Joe or the apartment's grill.
  8. Someone builds a house that is a perfect square. There is one window on each of the four windows. Each window faces the same direction. A bear walks by one of the windows. What color is the bear?
  9. A shadow.
  10. I like baseball, and I also like Homer Simpson. It was natural to find a picture of the two combined.
  11. I'm sort of the same way with the Giants lot. We never parked anywhere else, unless we were with a big group and we had bleacher seats. Plus I feel that lot is still the easiest to get out of. Just as a side note, I remember when they finally knew "Brewers Stadium" was going to be built, they drew the outline of the stadium on the parking lot, and it included where home plate was going to be. It was sort of a surreal moment, knowing someday baseball was going to be played in a new stadium.
  12. Yeah, I don't remember bribes to coaches at UW either. The thing with "Shoegate" was it was a player infraction, not a coach infraction. I still think that violation was rubbish, and UW got hit a lot harder than it should have. In my opinion, what Sampson did was a lot worse than any shoe infraction. Breaking rules after you have already been hit once is pretty bad. I don't have much sympathy for IU. They knew his track record when they hired him, now have to deal with the consequences.
  13. This could cost IU a bid in the NCAA tourney. That alone would make me demand his termination, if i were an IU fan.
  14. The only "problem" that there would be is an interleague series would always have to be going on, from opening day until the last game of the season (that is unless you give 2 teams 2-3 days off in a row). Lots of people would not like the fact that interleague games would be played during pennant chases. Personally, I don't want to see this happen (it won't). I think in the long run, the NL Central will be an easier division to win than the AL Central, and the Brewers have a chance to be much more competitive in the NL.
  15. I was driving to school this morning for my substitute job, and a train blocked the road for over 10 minutes. It moved forward, then stopped, then backed up, then stopped, then backed up some more. It bugs me that trains block main roads for that long during the morning rush. Couldn't they wait a half hour when there would be no traffic?
  16. I lived downtown Milwaukee a few years ago and saw him grocery shopping at the Pick n' Save on Van Buren. In his cart, he had probably four 12-packs of minute maid canned lemonade, 4 or 5 jars of Prego pasta sauce and tons of paper towels. And this was all right after he turned down that contract with the Wolves.
  17. Here's a random question (that I guess could be it's own thread)... What classifies you as having been to a state? Does landing at an airport to change planes count as being in a state? Does crossing the border just to cross back consider being in a state? Or do you have to actually have to do something in that state to classify you as having been there?
  18. One thing else to consider in hockey...I think they still have one referee and two linesmen. The ref is the only one that can call penalties, so players can get away with a lot of things behind the play. Still, all three are difficult jobs.
  19. We're taking a vacation to Arizona. The refund, as well as a pay raise at one of my jobs, plus back pay from the time the pay raise officially went into effect, plus the anticipation of free money from the government made it possible.
  20. Reading Splitter's story in the "Bugging You" thread reminded me of a very similar story. Last April, a bunch of people from my wife's work attended a conference in Vegas, and most significant other tagged along. Most of her co-workers took a flight from Madison that connected in Denver, both ways. It was too expensive for me, so we didn't. On the way home, their flight left pretty much on time...maybe 5 minutes late. When they got to Denver, their connecting flight had already departed...it departed EARLY! Since they weren't there during boarding, the airline gave away their seats. For some reason, they couldn't get on a flight to Madison, Milwaukee or even O'Hare. They ended up flying to Midway...late the next day, taking a cab to O'Hare, just to miss the last Van Galder bus of the day back to Madison. They ended up renting a car, and forgetting to pull off to pay a toll at a toll booth. And this airline that left early because they weren't there 15 minutes before the flight was to depart? United.
  21. Yay! The Office can come back!
  22. I made it official today too. We're going down on the 12th, heading to the northern part of the state for a couple days (including a trip to the Grand Canyon), then back down to Phoenix on the 17th to catch the Brewers vs. the White Sox (or Mariners...split squad game) before our flight leaves at 11:45 PM.
  23. I may be flying Air Tran in March. I'd rather not and I'm kind of skeptical. I've always thought that service on Northwest was not what I'd expect. I've flown United, American, Midwest, Northwest and Delta, and of them, Northwest was probably the worst (Midwest being the best)
  24. We may be headed down to Arizona in mid March, but not for the sole purpose of going to spring training. We may be touring the state a bit, going up to the northern part of the state to see the Grand Canyon and some other stuff. However, I am planning on going to one (minimum) game while down there. Out of curiosity...I'm finding the cheapest airfares have us catching a red-eye home at midnight and returning to Madison at 10:30 AM the next day. Anyone else find anything that actually arrives at a decent time? The advantage I guess is that it gives us an extra full day in Arizona, but we waste the next day traveling.
  25. Yes, that is a student section. Any section in the mid teens (114-118/214-218..etc...) are student sections.
