  1. Agreed... his ego is like Favre’s at his end. If the Packers rid themselves of Love and offered him more money and a bigger/longer contract, that would have to be tough for him to turn down. However, now it looks over. Jerk way to treat an organization, though.
  2. The play was over before interference was even possible.
  3. If it’s over for 12 in GB, I see it like this... 12>4 by a little Yet, 4 was more fun to watch.... maybe more than anyone, actually, in any sport.
  4. Agree.... value is value. The Brewers found value and got rather good players with lead off hitter Wong and JBJ. I don’t agree with the idea that the Brewers were all about defense this offseason or the signings of JBJ and Wong were first and foremost about defense. If JBJ continues to do what he is doing with the bat, he simply won’t play until late innings when winning.
  5. Bradley (-28 BAT, +15 BSR, +58 FLD) & Wong (-16 BAT, +24 BSR, +51 FLD) have both derived the majority of their value from defense & base running throughout their careers. They weren't signed for their bats. Exactly. Oh, good. Bradley is doing just what they want then. Make a defensive play and get a hit weekly. $14 million price tag for a job well done. Obviously, each was signed for both offense and defense. If defense was such a HUGE issue, 5’7””Hiura would not be at 1B, where he has cost us a few runs and and arguably a couple of games.
  6. Garcia .194 JBJ .195 Hiura .152 Shaw .216
  7. Because that's literally how the team was designed to operate this year. Big money to Bradley and Wong, along with getting rid of Knebel and Arcia says otherwise.... I think we all can be disappointed with the offense. Our four highest hitting batters, the only ones eligible by plate appearances for the batting avg lead, are hitting around .200. Glad Wong and Narvarez are keeping us afloat.
  8. Hard to say that we are not missing Arica.... about the only position player that did better for us in 2020 than their career avg.
  9. And then replace those three. That’s actually the trend of this forum. Always trying to replace. Hell, there’s posters here that would probably replace Cain with Taylor for good and then call our front office cheap and stupid when he eventually stinks too. Why is this spot on? A forum often has an array of opinions. I think we have to remember that those who criticize one decision are usually not the same people to criticize the opposite. Someone else will do that.
  10. Except it wasn't a cost cutting measure. Brewers 2021 payroll was right in line with the pre-pandemic 2020 figure. It was a matter of resource allocation. Stearns & Company thought five million would be better spent on a starting 3B & starting pitcher versus a reliever third in line for high leverage innings. Of course it was a cost cutting measure. Of course. If he was a much lower number, there is no trade.
  11. Reposting for effect. I wish Corey the best, but a nice reminder that 4 innings means absolutely nothing vs. the big picture. So you’d cut Woodruff loose if he blew out his elbow tomorrow? Knebel is an all-star. He had TJ surgery. 80% of pitchers will have a major arm injury at some point. It was a cost cutting measure plain and simple, people can debate that all day long with both sides having merit. Sniping with “told ya so” is the lowest form of debate. Complaining or drawing any kind of conclusion based on a small sample size is the lowest form of fanbase complaining. We've historically tried to avoid that here. Just disappointing that we've trended away from that level, I guess. Told ya so is lower. Also, since when are we judging Knebel by 4 innings? If it’s 4 innings this year and his entire Brewers career, then, yeah, I agree. I was disappointed that we got rid of him for little and it still bothers me a bit, even with the injury, especially when we threw money at Bradley late.
  12. One was in 2011. The Crew was 0-4. Home game. I think he scored the only run of the game too. Complete game shutout.
  13. Great win... Off topic, weren’t Dillard and Melendez at Wrigley yesterday. I know they are at Miller Park today.
  14. Gallardo should be included too. Consistent and reliable for 7 or 8 seasons.. Not the highs of either, but really good. Clutch performance in Game 5.
  15. Great catch..... he’ll be linked with SD and great catch in the corner for the rest of his career.... just like Pacorek in left in Baltimore.
  16. Hiura had some success toward the end of spring training. To me, that gives him some more rope to play daily and try to get on track.
  17. The Electric Dudes... Hader, Knebel, and Jeffress..... broken up way too soon, IMO.
  18. JBJ is here for his offense. If not, we just paid $12 this year for a backup OF with a glove. He hits or he’ll be just that, a late game OF defensive replacement. I think you took that a bit too literal. The theme is defense up and down our roster. They wanted to help save runs this season. JBJ will have his streaks and will be just fine for the Brewers. A 5’7” Hiura with a Vogelbach up at 1B blows up that defense first theory. Getting rid of Arica for potential fringe arms does too. The bats of Bradley and Wong are more thought of by Stearn than their gloves, IMO. The defense is the gravy, not the meat and mashed potatoes of why they are here.
  19. JBJ is here for his offense. If not, we just paid $12 this year for a backup OF with a glove. He hits or he’ll be just that, a late game OF defensive replacement.
  20. You nailed it for me. I go to the games for an experience. It's a 3 hour commute for me (probably a bit more from leaving the driveway to parking at the stadium). We ALWAYS tailgate because a. it's fun and part of the experience, and b. it's a lot cheaper than eating inside the stadium. The roof is a huge + because if it looked like rain in the past there was no way I was going to potentially spend 6 hours driving to not watch a game. As far as going to the game to watch just Yelich because he's a former MVP.. yeah, no. Definitely don't care about seeing an individual player. If the Crew signed Trout I guess I'd probably be sure to see him live at least once but it wouldn't influence my overall attendance. The team being good will make me want to attend more games but the reality is the max amount of times I'm going to drive 6 hours round trip is limited much more by geography(and to an extent financials) than anything else. Agreed. I don't go to see individual players, I go to see the Brewers team and the experience of live baseball. If the team is winning or has a promising team, people from outside Milwaukee come much, much more. People will support a winner. A 65 win team compared to a 90 win team will draw a million less people. Let’s not get crazy, though, and say individual players that drive success and bring aboard FA don’t make a difference.
