  1. Well, we have some fans in the stands for college football. I still feel there is an outside shot at fans for the MLB playoffs. As schools are meeting and games are getting played in SOME areas, it is not out of the realm of possibility for MLB. The games are local (no bubble) and are played largely outside. Putting 5 to 10 thousand in a stadium for playoff games, or late round playoff games ala the World Series, would be great.
  2. Didn't Mark Rogers (1st round pick) throw 9 plus innings of no hit ball out of the pen to start his season in 2010? Maybe 2012? Yeah, what Hader is doing in the pen this year, even with the five walk thing, is unbelievable.
  3. There is a DH and comparatively our backup outfielders are not better hitters than him.
  4. I look at the trade as a) a trade from our area of strength b) trading away a guy that has over-performed from norm thus far this season c) one that fills a need in our minors d) a big vote of confidence to Rasmussen
  5. If Urias can be an upgrade at SS potentially and steadily hit in the #1 or #2, filling OF spots are easier than at SS. I realize that's a big IF, but I like what I've seen from him, especially hitting line drives the other way.
  6. I think this has been proven wrong so many tunes over. Huge mistake by Counsell. No props for Sogard? Not Even tonight?
  7. Big catch by Petersen in top of 9th tonight to keep deficit at 1, allowing Sogard to walk it off.
  8. A few reactions... - The Kenosha footage of the initial shooting was tough to watch... a hard tackle by officer would have been sufficient. Pulling the trigger in that situation looked to be beyond any type of reasonable force. Seven times? Terrible. - Cancelling games for this? Yeah, someone is going to have to explain that to me slowly when still scheduling a double-header the next day.....a puzzler. I wonder what the majority of players did tonight with no game? I hope sleep to get ready for the double-header tomorrow. - I worked in Kenosha at one point. In my estimation, it has more Cubs fans than Brewers fans. - Finally, there are a lot of other injustices outside of race issues and police brutality that could result in missed games if this is the route professional sports are taking. It's a slippery slope.
  9. A possibility... not a probability.
  10. Playoffs are a long way off yet.... still a possibility on most cities, IMO.
  11. The offense.... everyone..... is underachieving. And we are what, a couple games out of the playoffs. I'm expecting playoffs.....still.
  12. The same can be said for other places too.... fans outside cities' suburbs are watching other teams too.
  13. The Brewers had to have been hurt badly by the no fans ordeal, more than most of course. Their gate has a much larger % of revenue than yeah, about anyone. It has been mentioned often by Attanasio and Melvin that big crowds and sellouts have a bigger impact than most on what the Brewers can do with their roster. https://www.bizjournals.com/milwaukee/blog/2015/04/skyrocketing-major-league-baseball-payrolls.html
  14. Chatter about getting fans in stands... https://calltothepen.com/2020/08/21/fans-stands-time-mlb-act/
  15. The club option (1+) to a few FA guys was a rather underrated move, IMO. Bring back who we want in 2021 and get rid of the those that didn't do well. In the mean time, they can build/trade to fill holes.
  16. Here's where I'm at too. I hate that something like this can literally cost a guy his career. But every time I think the guy should get a second chance you think about this kind of language and what it says about his character and what he thinks about people. For those that say "you use vulgar language too" . Yup. I swear. I say the f-word. But I don't use language that belittles and wounds an entire group of people. And most decent people don't. And that's the difference. I think Thom's character is pretty much like most of us...
  17. Brewers still at 62.7% odds to make playoffs... https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds
  18. Is Plush available.... how cool would it be to see 2011 Morgan again? Well, someone like him...a top of the order guy that can play CF ok.
  19. The pen looks very good.... electric dudes 2.0
  20. Stearns traded for Yelich, got us to the playoffs earlier than expected, and did it back to back years. He has a load of credit earned. Also, if there ever was a "just get in" year of the playoffs, this is it. No crowds (so far), little homefield advantage, no byes.... playing .500 ball will probably get the team their 3rd consecutive playoff appearance. That being said, how anyone downplays the numerous ranking systems that has our beloved team's minors bottom fifth of the league is beyond me. The minors are a definite work in progress with nothing in the wings with big time talent... at least not seen in 2019.
  21. "These Young guys" don't get it is a tad broad, don't you think? The large majority of players, young and old, are doing their part, I reckon.
  22. You are going to have to explain this one to me better.... We actually sign a MVP super star in his prime for a long term contract and then he what, tanks? That is what we are known for here in Milwaukee? Yeah, that happens here all the time. More like never. He’s saying it would be the luck of our franchise to sign a superstar to a huge contract and then have him tank. Not that it happens frequently. "Milwaukee Brewer sort of fortune".... he's saying unlucky things happen here often then, this being the latest. It's something Cubs fans would say about their team since bad luck is the reason their team didn't win it this year. Does anyone think of the Brewers as "unlucky". Having a smaller payroll in a small market with no salary cap is the reason we often miss the playoffs and rarely celebrate playoffs. Being mismanaged may play a part too, especially in the 90's and early 2000's....but unlucky? We have stunk sure, but albeit we recently made the playoffs twice in back to back seasons. And if he's trying to compare Yelich's deal/performance to Braun's 2nd extension, Suppan's FA deal, or Higuera's deal, it's not the same in any way.
