  1. Just watching the 1982 Harvey Wallbangers Highlight DVD (like I do every spring), and I saw the Oglivie catch in the corner during the last game of season against the Orioles. I tried to think of a, not only better catch, but also a more meaningful catch. I came up empty on both accounts. I really don't know how he made that catch. Most do not even attempt to catch it because of how close it was to the wall and the the slide into it is an injury waiting to happen. Also, if he doesn't make that catch, the bases clear and the Brewers possibly or even probably lose that game. Although incomprehendable to me, 1982 could have turned from a crown jewel in the franchise's 50 year history to another 2014 and 2017 ultra collapse. Cain had a few big ones to save games, but the Oglivie one meant more and was still more difficult, IMO. I'm partly drawing a blank for other catches, but it's tough to beat Spider-Man's catch.
  2. I would have preferred 7 years total with an 8th option..... rather than 9 total with a 10th option. Those ultra big money, extra long contracts seem like they never work out well. Glad Yelich is here longer than the next three, at least in theory. No surprise here if he is traded at any point from 2022 to 2026 when we probably go through a rebuild.
  3. Yelich has the mutual option presumably in 2029, not 2027.
  4. I see 9 years and think that somewhere in there there is going to be a tear down for two or three years and a rebuild back up. That is just the norm for most organizations. If and more likely when that happens, the Trade Yelich thinking will start. By signing him long term, the team can get significant prospects back in four to six years rather than lose him to FA in three. The big question will be the no trade clause, if there is one and when it kicks in or ends.
  5. So freaking stupid... Very asinine to open that wound again since it seemed to have disappeared relatively quickly. Non issue, huh? It really should be a non issue, like all the large majority of the arby cases. It doesn't appear that way, though
  6. I think most people are viewing it exactly as that ... a non-issue. Not Hader and not the Brewers GM, IMO. The idea of going to arby three times with him in the future likely brings about a long term deal or trade.

  8. You hear managers taking sides in arbitration rulings often? That's professional? If he's choosing sides, yeah, then tell Attanasio to pay him, offer him a longer term contract. Otherwise, stick to the script, zip it, and make it a non issue.
  9. With Glad you brought this up... Fielder did a two year deal during his arby years. I doubt DM wanted to go back and forth with $ each and every arby year....much like DS and Hader, I presume.
  10. Also, if I'm Hader, and my manager thinks I should be getting more, why am I not getting a couple mil more? Come on, skip, you act like your hands are tied when they really are not. If I am that important, make a bigger fuss on my behalf. CC opened himself up to fair criticism all the way around when he started giving his opinion on arbitration rulings. Baseball is not known for players sitting out, but Hader could pull an Emmitt Smith or Sterling Sharpe at some point..... it wouldn't be surprising. He's making a fuss already. Funny thing, if he doesn't blow the last two of the season, I feel for him a bit. Now? Put your nose to the ground, be quiet and thankful for the Super 2, and just play ball.
  11. Most do not even discuss their contract. Hader did. Twice. He made it an issue, and it is an issue moving forward with him since he has three more years of arby and I doubt the Brewers want to argue over a few million with him three more times. It's news to me because this, along with his higher salary each year, is nudging him out the door via trade.
  12. Hader has been complaining about salary the past two years and the Brewers are, as of now, scheduled to try to limit his wages the next three offseasons. Yeah.... nothing to see here, I guess..... I hope.
  13. He's not complaining about the contract. He's complaining about the outdated arbitration process, and many would agree with him. He's not complaining about the money?
  14. He has raw nerve to complain about his contract, especially after blowing the last two games he pitched in. No Brewer fan wants to hear bout it, especially since he still is getting a monster raise.
  15. Another reason why he is dealt in the next few weeks...
  16. https://madison.com/wsj/sports/baseball/professional/brewers-manager-craig-counsell-says-josh-hader-should-have-won/article_14acfff4-62c8-5e01-a3f8-c6344adbf799.html
  17. CC says Hader should have won his case. So he is calling DS wrong thenin the way that Hader is valued, correct?
  18. Great post... spot on.
  19. Either after this season or next.... My guess is that they try to extend him to a 30 mil a year contract for another 4 years, though.
  20. How many domed parks did you play in as a child? Just playing the semantics game. Also, in a baseball context a field is a field whether there's a roof over it or not. There are still outfielders and players still "take the field" or "field a grounder". Even when it used to be played on Astroturf, in a dome. In an aside, listening to WTMJ radio on the way to work this morning and they were discussing the name change and what to call Miller Park Way going forward and one of them said they could keep the general name but call it Miller Parkway instead. I thought that was a pretty clever solution. About as many domed fields that you played in... I'll play along, though, and meet you half way with ballpark. I guess the retractable roof makes more names possible and agreeable.
  21. Great way to make games even longer! Yes! I like it for the starting pitcher only.... such a great way to keep NL strategy in the game.
  22. Calling a domed stadium a field doesn't seem right.... park, stadium, and ballpark seem better.
  23. Huge overpay.... even if he is somewhat above avg....
