  1. I thought you gave up when Albers came in? I distinctly remember your "Game over" post and you said you were turning it off. Yep. The game is available through other means. You probably still read box scores in the newspapers. The players do not enjoy extra innings and the fans would rather have the game end in 9, as well. For the regular season, I'm all for one inning of extras with a guy starting at 2nd, then ending it with a tie. Make regular extra inning rules for playoff games only. Easy fix. Nobody would care. Win, win.
  2. His attack mode led to what, 11 HRs, mainly on fastballs that were heartland. The key is throwing the other stuff for strikes and getting ahead in the count. Relief probably gives him a couple more mphs on his fastball, along with better handpicked matchups from CC. The opportunity for his success is greater. He also seems comfortable with the role of high leverage situation relief pitcher, getting that experience down the stretch and in playoff games last year.
  3. Agree with all this stuff.... he is probably 8 or 9 in the rotation totem pole. He can look to start again next season. Then again, if he is lights out as a reliever again this year, just Hader him and say your role and nitch is set. Another multi inning option in the pen is a great weapon to have.
  4. With mlb rules changing with the deadline this season, July 31, 2019, is the biggest trade date in the history of baseball. No August deals, no waiver wire pickups.... just July 31 to focus on for all contenders and rebuilders. A few predictions: -We should see a lot of activity in July, but I am guessing that trades begin even earlier in late June. About ten teams know that they are out of it already and would rather deal players early to get more prospect value back by trading earlier in the season. - GMs will be playing a higher stakes of poker on July 31. The negativity of not getting a trade done for free agents to be has never been as great. Not dealing your semi talented FA to be to a contender now has no backup plan in August with the waiver process. This should allow contenders to part with lesser prospects than previous years when making deadline deals. - Bumgardener will be dealt to an American League team in June. - The Brewers will get a couple serviceable arms at the deadline, bypassing better options in free agency or trade, and they will not have to give up much.... think Gio or Krod part 2.
  5. The play of the game in this one was the double, or really error, hit by Thames in the 1st. It set up at least three runs.
  6. No, but if mystery IL stint happens to Shaw, yes. No, because he still needs everyday at bats. Again, yes, if Shaw is on IL. It would be a pretty ideal time to bring him up this weekend playing the Cubs and their lefty pitching.
  7. Amazing how our pitching coach gets appreciation when we play weaker offenses and gets ripped on when we are playing the Dodgers, Cubs, and Cards at the start of the season Let's see how the staff develops as the season goes on. That would be a fairer evaluation.
  8. He won one with Cleveland. Meh. That is all Lebron. Wouldn't have won it without Kyrie....possibly swept.
  9. Nooooo way can you write lol.... Hiura has no MLB at bats. How can you compare until that happens. If you want to compare minor league stats, those are comparable and half way similar.

  11. For almost all of April, it looked like (perception is usually decieving, I know) that he was both flat-footing and trying to pull outside pitches. Braun is at his best when he's taking those outside pitches to right field like we're seeing the last several days. This isn't some secret, literally EVERYBODY knows this. I also think it would be to Braun's benefit if he'd go with a bat that is even an inch or so shorter and/or an ounce or two lighter, but he (obviously) loves the plate coverage he feels that huge bat provides. It is what it is. Braun is what he is. He's going to have a few of these hot streaks this year, just like he did last year and the end result will be a decent-ish looking slash line at the end of the year (probably). He switched approaches midstream, imo, without telling anyone. Teams were and still are playing him to pull. Over the last few games, he started being Braun again and hitting balls hard to center and right. This will affect his power numbers negatively, sure, and he knows this, but hitting liners for a higher avg would be what this team needs and is what has worked for him.
  12. Grandal .283 before game, .264 after Braun .226 before game, .263 after Wow! Crazy shift for one game! A few games ago Grandal was hitting .300+ and Braun was hitting below .200
  13. I think Braun gave up the launch angle pull the ball mode about 3 weeks ago. He is back to hitting it hard the other way. Maybe not, but it would be fun to hear him asked the question if he switched it up.
  14. If the Bucks are going to switch on most picks, Kyrie has to attack and look to do more on the mismatches, whethervthat's scoring 40 or dishing out 15 assists.
  15. This move makes sense to me.....
  16. Moose has nice numbers so far and has won them some games. When he was out of the lineup, the lineup was quite stagnant. Also, what difference making pitcher takes a one year deal like Grandal or Moose? I still am thankful for the move in bringing him back.
  17. Nobody really knows what pitching coaches do.... funny to hear people pump up or put down a coach. Adambr2, What "things" are you specifically talking about? What specific "things" did Derek Johnson do so well? The media doesn't even know. Is it a program that DJ lived by? Did he teach the split/curve/change well and why is that? Did he game plan well? How so? What specifically did he do that is not being done now? Without this kind of info, we are like ESPN daily show pundits bantering about generalities and not what actually is going on. Not meaning to sound jerky, but I do....
  18. Still better than Villar.
  19. I'm calling for Thames in right tomorrow and Aguilar at 1B. Tough right, tough not to play Thames. With Aguilar starting, hopefully, to surge, it would be tough to sit him.
  20. The rotation has more guys waiting in the wings, especially with Gio here. Burnes, Peralta, and Nelson are all possibles to be in the rotation before school lets out. The bullpen? Less. I think Woodruff in the bullpen makes the most sense right now. They need someone to pitch meaningful innings in the 6th, 7th, and 8th to set limited roles in the pen. Now, every late lead game is a question mark of who pitches when, will Hader HAVE to pitch, and why is Claudio in there again. Just bite the bullet with Woody this season. He has experience in the pen and he was light out throwing 98 mph cheese in the playoffs. He can still be a starter next season or the season after. We need better options in the pen yesterday.
  21. Umm...... yeah, he now has more HRs than last April.
  22. I wouldn't give up on Aguilar. He is lost now, but he will get chances.
