  1. Just seems like he is talking about the following more: getting the game over with and on to the next city, so many counts going to 3 balls and lengthy at bats, mentioning time of game when in extra innings often.... maybe others have a specific as well. Any of these is fine by itself, but There is overkill from Anderson on these topics. Of all the people in the ballpark, I want him to Love being at the ballpark the most..... not itching to get out of there.
  2. Bill and Brian are both above average TV guys, and I hope each is with us for a while yet.. I am convinced they are better than half when I listen to other telecasts, local or national. That being said, Brian has one eye on the clock. He is looking for the game to be over, and it is more evident as years go by.
  3. Odds are, sadly, that the Cubs will do much better in the 2nd half. Fangraphs has them winning the division (rather easily, it looks). https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds
  4. Agreed.... Let the players, especially the relievers, that helped get the team be playoff caliber have similar roles down the stretch without ringers taking over same roles. I liked getting reinforcements last year (Granderson, etc.), but these guys didn't play enough with the team to warrant key roles. Let team depth in the minors dictate who pitches/plays late in the season and not big money/trades.
  5. Maybe "upset some of his friends" would be a better take.
  6. Once we start trying, we should be pretty good....
  7. I can tell you were hurt by this move. Hernan grew on me as well. He still showed up at his autograph signing in Saukville a day after being let go. He’s just a good guy. It doesn’t help knowing they dropped him for Saladino who stinks as well. If it was Dubon, I think I would’ve understood it. I wanted to let this move percolate to see if it made more sense to me. It doesn't. This feels like making a move for the sake of making a move. Saladino isn't better than Perez but he is different than Perez. I think Perez just ended up being the sacrificial lamb for no other reason than they needed a sacrificial lamb. This doesn't change the team trajectory at all and this isn't coming from someone who thought Perez was an integral part of the team. He had large amounts of rope that has worn thin. Considering how Burnes, Nelson, Shaw and other relievers go up and down, this isn't shocking. He also still could be with the organization if no one picks him up. I was surprised, yes, but was he really producing well? Then again, he did well against lefties traditionally, and he even played huge in some playoff games against lefties.
  8. One Great season and kudos to him for that.... Worst baseruner in the history of the franchise.
  9. My guess is that Nobody will pick him up. He'll go to AAA. We'll see more of him in September, or earlier if there is an injury.
  10. Yeah, I am to the point of why even go through the whole charade of the “manager’s challenge.” Just have a system that looks at every close play and only changes the outcomes with truly indisputable evidence (which doesn’t always seem to be the case now). [sarcasm]The games are already 4 hours anyway, what’s another half hour tacked on at this point?[/sarcasm] I'm all for no replay until September. No Fox cam strike zone too. Life would be much simpler then, and I wouldn't dwell on all the ultra close call or edge strikes/balls as much.
  11. I've been to ten different MLB stadiuims, half have had huge signs, or at least people saying, "Don't go to your seat during an At Bat" or something similar. The Brewers choose not to educate the fans on baseball courtesies.... not sure why not. Moreover, the avg Brewer fan is a kind and courteous person. Yet, Most of these people have NO CLUE about when to stand up, move out, or move back to their seat. Then again, if baseball games are going to last 4 hours, I might give up my learned baseball courtesies, as well.
  12. More like a championship season... Last year was a successful (yet disappointing) season, but it was not a championship season. There is a difference. I can't wrap my head around only one team in a 30 team league having the only success because they won it all.
  13. Well, it is a little troubling to see Hiura in the minors now when we all feel he could be helping the club, especially against these lefties starters. And we know there is urgency to win this season with 1 year contracts to Moose and Grandal. If Hiura is safely past Super Two territory, let's get him up for good tomorrow. I'm fine with a 12.man staff until the All Star break.... we ping pong genough pitchers back and forth to make that work.
  14. Will waivers still be going on in August? I know that trades are over come Aug. 1, but can teams still take over another team's player/contract? Also, when is the deadline for playoff rosters? Before this year, a team could pick up a player in September, but he could not be on the playoff roster. Has this changed?
  15. He's having another good year..... and he's heating up! http://www.milb.com/player/index.jsp?sid=milb&player_id=644337#/career/R/hitting/2019/ALL
  16. If this season, where we currently have the 4th best record in the NL (against the 10th highest payroll) is looking like a major failure, what would you call the Giants spending 177 million (3rd in NL) to be the 2nd worst team? Or the Nationals spending 163 million (4th in NL) to likely miss the postseason? Or the Mets spending 159 million (6th in NL) to likely do the same? Major failure? We are a playoff team right now! And we have had many options in the rotation, including about all from our system. We'll get Gio back soon too, and we'll do something else by the deadline....
  17. Maybe pitchers should start showboating a bit more in the name of "just let the players play" and see how the batters react to it. The "hothead jerk" pitcher would then be cool and the ticked off batter would be a hothead? It would be interesting to see the double talk and hypocrisy of all the Bryce Harpers in the game. Bum is just what this team needs..... a starter who routinely throws a solid 6IP with some fire in his belly and ice water in his veins for late season baseball. Put him on a meaningful stage, ala Verlander, and his performance will get better as well.
  18. Didn't see this coming.... I thought Nelson's last start results were largely poor due to a ground ball that trickled through the infield for a couple of runs. He also was an out away from throwing 5IP with 3 ER... not great but a step up. I am all for pulling pitchers early in a game or rotation, or the opposite of Yost's moves (remember when Capuano went like 15 starts without winning a game). Pulling them from the rotation.... eh, I'm a tad different. CC might be doing some damage by having a shorter leash with Burnes, Peralta, and now Nelson, fairly early in the season without great pitchers in the wings to fill in. I would have gone with all three of these guys longer (another start or two at least) before kicking them out of the rotation. Houser has looked great, though.
  19. Pitch 6 to Grandal should have been a ball, but pitch 4 should have been a strike. Just get rid of the Fox strike zone on every pitch..... just asking for fans to be disgruntled with umps. If FSN wants to replay a third strike or 4th ball, sobeit. Everything else is overkill.
  20. Make the playoffs and it's a successful season for most MLB teams, including us this year in a tough division and league.
  21. Just option him..., let him play everyday in San Antonio.
  22. The topic is legit, especially during their recent slide. That being said, my take is that David and Mark A. are going to add at the deadline sooner rather than later.
