  1. Those college kids should get paid for food, room and board, and classes for four years.
  2. Agreed. Some prospects (Turang, Grisham, Ashby, Rasmussen, Supak) would require a king's ransom of sorts in return. They can't do the same as last year because deals in August cannot be done. The team has 3 weeks to get it figured out.
  3. The funny thing is, the Cubs are only mediocre because of the bad moves they made to win one WS which drastically cut the window they had. A team like Milwaukee has to have more balance. If you want to go all in and win one just to win one like the 108-year drought team did, it will likely come at the cost of success beyond that. Or in hindsight..... one looks back at 2008, 2011, and 2018 and thinks it would have been nice to add another piece(like a bat at short in 2011 or ace last year) and see how that could have improved the team since, in my mind, the little engine cannot be expected to be in it every season. I would tend to make bolder moves when we are are in it come July 31 because of this thinking. The whole model of being playoff competitive yearly..... I'm not sold on it. I see us taking a step back next year, as is. Who doesn't?? No Grandal or Moose likely, right? No immediate upgrades there. I would expect us to be much more aggressive at this year's deadline (and it's a hard deadline at that so no Stearns' bargain hunting in August) since next year is likely a step back unless we trade for a top of the order bat or ace that we can control next year.
  4. This is not the year of woulda,, coulda, shoulda. The Brewers will get the pieces needed this year, again largely because of Moose and Grandal being FA next year. It is the train track that the team is on.
  5. Glad he's not pushing this by swinging umpteen times as hard as he can in a short period of time... just rest.
  6. The title of this post doesn't suggest that the moves have to be made this week. Well, then again, maybe so.... Some punctuation would help us.

  8. Getting a top rental starter (Gio hopefully will be decent, so in addition to him) and a couple of relievers (one of them being high leverage) has to be part of the plan. This year, on paper, looks better than next year with Moose and Grandal here, and since thus is the case we will be aggressive. The woulda, coulda, shoulda will not be a reason why we didn't win it all this year. We are Pulling out all the stops and risking future assets for right now, more than we are comfortable doing.
  9. Salvage game is definitely a finalist for the name of the 2019 brewers season dvd No season DVDs anymore apparently.... 2018 didn't gave one.
  10. Sadly, it is all about this.... does Gianni's like Westbrook? If it helps keep 34 around long term, probably do it... even though I don't like Westbrook much.
  11. We've won the 8th most games in MLB since Attanasio hired Stearns. I think they share the "blame" for that in some proportion (along with Counsell & the players themselves & the rest of the field staff & front office). Orf?
  12. The selling high on Hader is NOT being a seller at the deadline. It’s selling high on Hader, AND using the massive prospect haul to better the team immediately, THIS YEAR. Sellers and buyers at the same time. Pen arms no matter how awesome(Hader)can be replaced with pen arms that can still close out the win. Some of the top prospects received can be used to acquire a top player or two to help win THIS year and the future. This eliminates possible injury and even slight regression from Hader being a concern moving forward. I don't see this scenario playing out in three weeks..... again, maybe the offseason when tine isn't as much a factor.
  13. What team gives them enough back? The package would have to be similar in prospects to what OKC received in picks from the Clippers for George. It would also HAVE to be after this season, since we still have a good shot at the postseason and Wold Series with one year players Moose and Grandal.
  14. Bad, bad managing from a very good manager. Did he think another pinch hitter was on the bench? What is his lame excuse?
  15. Shocked that we pitch our worst pitcher in this situation....talk about taking a lead for granted. 5 run game is mop up duty, that’s exactly where you use him. There weren’t a lot of options left. Wrong.... just plain wrong. Mop up duty up five in the 9th? There weren't a lot of options, but there were multiple better ones. We needed to treat this series differently, with extra urgency, with the days of rest coming up.
  16. This. Burnes was an option. Peralta was an option. If a 5 run lead was this much of a concern, it wasn't mandatory for Counsell to go with the AAA guy who hasn't pitched in the bigs in years. And he left him in to give up 4 earned runs..
  17. If the Brewers lose this game BF.net might get burned to the ground tonight. At the very least, the pitchforks will be out for the "take Hader out with a 5 run lead" advocates. Not upset with pulling Hader. Upset with putting in their worst pitcher in such a apot.

  19. Nutso that this guy is in now when we sorely need a win, have a four day off stretch, and haven't seen this guy pitch with Brewers before. And we don't have Hader or Jeffress to fall back on...
