  1. Too much talk about right and wrong in this thread..... borderline religion when telling others how to live their lives, calling other human beings turds, and debating penalties for moral offenses seven years ago. Let's talk baseball, people. Keep this stuff in the religion/politics section.
  2. Would your team have seats/bleachers? Who would run your PR department?
  3. He is at a B+ grade in my mind.... needs the playoffs to get to an A-, though. He's done a bunch of things right for a small market club.
  4. Give a good offer for deGrom.... Burnes, Woodruff, Santana, Z Brown, Ray
  5. Awesome! Getting good Domingo back would go a long way toward fotifying the lineup. Returning back to himself, hopefully...
  6. Brewers have had miserable series at Pitt around this time of year...in years when we had a great 1st half..... last year after the break and 2004 come to mind, I believe, when we became the first team to win games over 500 and end the season at least 15 games under 500. Throw in this year too. I thought a 5 game series sweep could really make or make our season. Odds were that wasn't going to happen, but yeah, it did. I'll stick with the positive predictions now on..... Brewers over the Sawx in Six.
  7. How does not guaranteeing the 2nd year (team option) help Parker? No one knows! The only thing that I can think of is that.... -the 20 million for one year is more than anything floated for two. -the Bulls didn't want to go two guaranteed years because of injury concerns -The New Bucks Coach didn't want him AT ALL and the QO was just buying them time to hope for someone to swoop in with a nice trade offer. -my guess is that if no RFA offer or respectable trade offer came in for Parker, the Bucks might have just released him; otherwise, they make Chicago pony up serious money for two years, not one. Working with the enemy to make this one year thing happen (with a TEAM option) tells me the Bucks didn't want a PR nightmare if they just would have cut a #2 pick scorer with potential. The Bulls were their only out with Bucks saying that they now couldn't afford him because of such a high offer.
  8. Still looking at those trade rumors, but the brakes have been pumped a few times.... Hoping we can land Machado for a B prospects laiden/Broxton type of deal.
  9. This might very well be the right play. Nine AL teams are out of it already. Five or six NL teams are out of it. We could get nice improvements in the middle infield at a much cheaper prospect price than Manny. Wait until August and we could get something for practically nothing- just pay him and a throw in. The tricky part is that avg players might just get us what we got last year... a little shy of the playoffs.
  10. They said they made a good faith deal with Parkers agent so he could sign a smaller deal with the bulls. A smaller deal helps Parker? More like the Bulls. Crazy stuff....

  12. Hasn’t that been done away with for quite a few years now? When "it counted" players began sticking around.
  13. Our team is largely set. How much turnover will there be next season? Not much. Maybe a FA pickup or a couple of guys from the minors, maybe a trade. Just calling it a rebuild now, or year three out of five, is not right since it has been largely built already. We should expect playoffs and be dealing from prospect excess. No playoffs this year or next and CC will be on the hot seat.
  14. Would a Machado signing impact ticket sales like CC did? The Brewers sold out like 20 some straight games from late July to early Sept. in 2008.
  15. That 3% suddenly turned to roughly 65%, by the way.
  16. He was terrible with the Brewers, and he’s been terrible at Colorado Springs. We don’t need an outfielder who hits slap singles only and plays poor defense. Leave him there until he figures out how to drive the ball again. He has a higher ceiling than our scrap up here now. His numbers aren't great, granted. The lack of power is concerning, but his OBP is good.... .373. With our mounting injuries, his time is coming again.
  17. Get Santana back up here and start playing him.... need we go down this road with Broxton and Perez? Santana was very good with us last season and surprise, we take away his at bats and he struggles. He has opportunity to get those at bats again and for some reason we think he isn't better than Perez or Broxton?
  18. Why did we make him a free agent? We totally left the Bulls off the hook! They would have had to make him a two year offer instead of a one year and a team option! Dumb! Actually, I would rather have Parker in Milwaukee with that deal and get rid of the two guys just picked up. If Parker does well, we could trade him and at least get something.
  19. Are we going to have players leaving the ballpark early like they used to do before the WS home field was ties to it?
  20. We almost certainly are going to be trading people from our 40 man before this deadline is over. This offseason a whole slew of players are going to need protecting from the Rule 5. Ortiz, Kodi, Kirby, Torres-Costa... amongst others. Stearns has a surplus and I would be willing to bet he offloads some of it to help with our run at it this season. I see trades for 40 man guys, like you say, or the guys that would have to be put on the 40 man after the season. Either way, the crunch would be minimized if we trade for rentals.
  21. Posing a question here.... How much difference in confidence will you have in this team if we take all five against Pittsburgh or if we lose all five? For me, it's more drastic than I'd like to admit. If we sweep them, I am looking at trade rumors more and playoff dates over the break..... maybe pop in the 82 DVD. If we get swept, I am pressing on the brakes, not letting my emotions get too carried away. Win all, I want a bigger splash at the deadline. Lose all, I might rather wait until August. I realize it matters how the Cubs/Cards and Wild Card foes do as well, but this is a big series that undoubtedly gives management a better feel for this group and our collective playoff dreams. Because of the length of the series and having it run up against the break, the games should seem more important than a typical series.
  22. Pitching in the 5th thru 7th innings makes sense. I'd like to see him solid in 2019.
  23. Would Hiura need to be included? Are we confident he is not?
  24. We have a bunch of guys that need to be added to the 40 man next year.... wouldn't that be a reason why we would be including a large number of prospects in a rental deal. I know this has been mentioned somewhere...... what possibles will need to be protected on the 40 man for the first time next year?
