  1. Worse defender, don't forget to mention that. Who's spinning the numbers? .201 last year, right? .240 career avg with below avg defense? That's way better than Sogard? Maybe it's just the glasses that are bothering you....

  3. Uh, we have a lead in the division. It's July. The Cubs are in 2nd place. So, you're saying for fans to concede the division and some Miller Park Cubs tickets (good money, though)? I prefer trying, caring, and believing a bit more. No, that's not the point. The point is it's totally pointless to scoreboard watch in July much less hang on every single Cubs game. If it's April or May, sure, I'd agree with you. In July, everyone scoreboard watches with the deadline coming up and division races heating up.

  5. I'd really like to let this thing go.... but you keep going with extremes. I'm saying right now that they are similar players. A dime a dozen players. Miller probably is the better of the two right now in 2018, but it is debatable. Last season Sogard was way better. Not just a little bit. Miller hit .201 in 407 PA. Sogard's OBP was .393 in 2017. More walks than Ks. And like you say, he didn't play that well toward the end of the season... still .393 for the season. Yet, for some reason, Miller is the one you are so confident in saying is not just better, but way better now? .201 last season. Traded for Choi straight up...Last year, whole entire 6 month season, he played poorly. Batting .201 isn't good, right? Right here you lose credibility in the debate for me...CC feels it necessary to put Sogard in for Miller for defensive purposes late in games....like twice this week. So defensively, CC thinks Sogard is waaaay better than Miller; otherwise, there would be no need to make the switch. Then you talk highly about 24 good ABs that Miller has for the Brewers, but not Sogard's 2017 because of low number of good ABs (299 PA). Sogard's good pinch hitting (412 OBP in 17 AB) or clutch numbers late in games (.435 OBP in 24 ABs) should then be accounted for too. Really, neither should be a starter on a playoff team. Yet, they are similar value backup Infielders, both with strengths and weaknesses, in 2018. Again, I hope somebody from the middle IF mob steps up and gets hot.
  6. Brewmann wins it with 12-13..... pretty impressive considering he called a rainout, as well.
  7. Miller hit .201 last year, right? I'm tempted to say grass is green or a triangle has 3 sides because I'm starting to think you'll find a way to disprove that too. Career wise, Miller has a better one than Sogard. Last year, no way. Sogard way better. This year, Miller. Pinch hitting, defense? Probably Sogard. Praising Miller and bashing Sogard? 7Up is great, best soda ever! That Sprite, though, tastes like vinegar. I'm pulling for somebody from our mixture of similar, middle IF to get hot and stay hot. We need it.
  8. Pushing thru it seems to be what he is doing because yeah, our lineup looks way worse without him. That is what scares me. It's best for the team, not for the player. If he was fine, he wouldn't have left mid AB, mind you. I think there is some wiggle room from what they are doing and the DL. Give him the Braun treatment where he gets some off games. Nothing seems right with how they are reacting to this. No, I am not the dr, have no medical reports. Yet common sense says don't play him like normal.
  9. The guys a hitter. They’ll come around. He’s already made an impact. I don't think I'm that guy, but hanging your hat on a .240 lifetime hitter while talking how Sogard is garbage is showing us your bias. Sogard and Miller both are hanging on for dear life in the majors right now.
  10. Parker would sign the contract with the team he prefers. I believe that the amount of years and money offered is irrelevant and it is strictly Parker’s choice on the offer he wants. The Bucks then have the choice to match the offer that Parker agreed to with the other team or let him walk. Thank you.... that makes sense.
  11. We need 5th-7th inning guys.... that could be his role in 2018.
  12. A hit & 3 walks tonight. Maybe the medical staff has evaluated him correctly. No one is saying he can't play the game...the question is if he should after two recent bouts with a wrist injury. If the season ended in a month, I'm on board with this- tough it out, Shaw. That's not the truth, however. Lord willing, we are still playing in October, and we'll be expecting this guy to be in the lineup producing, not on the DL.
  13. If let's say the Hawks offer Parker 3 years for 30 million and the Bulls offer 4 years for 38 million, which offer is deemed best? Which one do the Bucks have to match? Most money per season or most money?
  14. Or that DS finds those diamonds in the rough? Would you spin it the other way if Votto K's (should have according to K-zone) and Thames catches a fly ball? Just saying, it's easy to pile on....
  15. You know the movie, but you didn't see the game. He should of K'd Votto, according to K-Zone, and Thames should have caught the ball. Then the ledge Brewer fan would be praising him as our next Loogy.... figures.
  16. Wow.... Z should have struck Votto if going by K Zone. If Yelich is in LF, the next double is an out.
  17. Arcia made a couple nice defensive plays, especially that sliding play near the line. No one else gets to that ball.
  18. Pure speculation.....Anyone else notice that Broxton was shaking his head earlier on at 1B... after his RBI hit, I believe. My guess is the bench wanted him to do the Cain finger thing, and he wanted none of it. Have to imagine that Cain is not a favorite of his.... some bitterness perhaps.
  19. Just common sense says to take it easy.... Sit the man for a while instead of playing him everyday- almost acting like all is normal.
  20. All this time counts for MLB service time, right?
  21. Our Helena rookie ball team will play there next season. We are looking for a new place for AAA. Other contracts are up this year and we are shopping for a new home..... haven't heard much recently.
  22. Major league general managers do not play "hot bats" to decide on personnel very often. Sometimes it can break a tie, but I spent a page discussing how Orf is not in the same stratosphere of MLB talent with Saladino, Sogard, Franklin, Miller. You take the player that is most talented/has a track record (under normal circumstances)/tools to thrive in your situation. You don't grab a guy because he happens to be on a 20 for 35 hitting streak in the minors if you don't think he can hack MLB pitching. You can apply "hot bat" to someone like Aguilar when they grabbed him. He had MLB power and he may have been undervalued coming in. It appears that he's also adjusted his launch angle. In that case, if he's a hot bat in spring training it may raise an eyebrow and warrant a chance. Beyond that, hitters generally have a "hot bat" based on facing poor pitchers or hitting in great environments (like Colorado Springs). Nate Orf's hot streak would end very quickly when he wasn't hitting in Colorado and comes in to face MLB pitching given all of the points I've laid out that he simply is probably not cut out to be a very good hitter in the majors. Would have been nice to see him give it a go.... a shame to do so incredibly well without a cup of coffee. His on base is still over .400.... It's tough to believe he would have been worse than our scrap heap now. If one is hitting AAA pitching and doing well in Spring Training, he isn't trash, just down on the depth chart, I guess. I'm curious what other Brewers players are in Orf's category of AAA that will never sniff the big leagues... would like to see some specific names so I know who obviously really isn't a player. The haven't been drafted thing wears thin on me.... tons of examples that either were drafted low or not at all that had solid, if not spectacular, careers. Hot bats or arms are brought up all the time from AA or AAA based on impressive results there and not just tools. The reason so many want Hiura up like NOW is his hot bat, even though his track is for next year or 2020. Peralta is partly up now for the same reason.... Even Sogard was hitting really well in the minors last season and was brought up partly because of that, not because he was a second round pick or that he had previous experience in the bigs. Aguilar was acquired in the offseason about a year and a half ago.... nothing to do with him having a hot bat. I define this "hot" as doing really well or way above avg performance from a weekish to a month plus. I'm guessing your definition is different. Did you read WHY aging lefty, out of the majors for five years, big Z was brought up? Craig said, "He was throwing the ball well." Sounds like pretty good stats at AAA or perhaps a hot arm.....
  23. This is temporary. They added Z because they don't care about losing him when they take him back off the 40 man roster. That is not the case for Ramirez or QTC. As soon as one of Albers, Miley, Davies is ready Z will be gone. Or if they actually use him in a blowout, they might rotate him for Lopez right away so they have a fresh arm in the pen. And I continue to believe that if Orf gets back on a hot streak, the Brewers will give him a cup of coffee. Maybe it will be a week or two when an injury or two pop up, but stats still count.
  24. It doesn't really matter. The point is that on the whole, Orf's entire "he hits so well in AAA" description has to do with the fact that he essentially plays half of his games on the moon. The rest of the PCL is actually great for hitters but he has only done OK with that. It's the same reason that there are various guys that put up borderline All Star numbers for the Rockies that I would be barely interested in in a trade. You can't trust the numbers unless they're by a truly good hitter that can hit outside of that environment as well. When will be the brewers minor league team leave Colorado springs? It seems like having the AAA team there has a negative impact on the organization (i.e. it makes evaluation of talent a little bit difficult, probably impacts development) This is the last year.
