  1. It looks like they took a snippet from Adam McCalvy’s Sunday ARTICLE. Here is the full transcript from McCalvy’s update on Jimmy Nelson... Nelson 'trending in right direction' Sunday marked one month since rehabbing right-hander Jimmy Nelson's check-up with the doctor who performed his shoulder surgery, and he told Milwaukee radio station 105.7 FM The Fan that "it's trending in the right direction right now." There is no timetable for Nelson to throw off a mound or to return to the Brewers' rotation, because those benchmarks all depend on his repaired right shoulder. He is currently working back toward throwing 150 feet on flat ground, the distance he was at before a shutdown period before and after a visit with Dr. Neal ElAtrrache. "The last week or two is the best it's gone so far," Nelson said. "Right now, there's a lot of good signs. It's been responding better than it has this whole process. I'm not behind schedule or anything. I'm still on schedule or maybe even ahead of schedule. It's just the fact I got so far ahead of schedule, whenever you get shut down for 10-12 days, everybody starts freaking out." Nelson said he is down 25 pounds from the start of Spring Training. Huh? Down 25 pounds? In 3 and a half months? What's going on?
  2. With the Uecker jacket trip to Pitt and the Hall of Fame Inductions right around the corner, I thought it was timely to include this gem from 1982. In it, Bob jokes of making the Hall of Fame.... he comes in around minute 37. https://video.search.yahoo.com/video/play;_ylt=AwrC5rLR6SlbKHYAf9u5mWRH;_ylu=X3oDMTByMjBzZmhtBHNlYwNzcgRzbGsDdmlkBHZ0aWQDBGdwb3MDNg--?p=bob+uecker+johnny+carson&vid=49ee80b94d1625405ff347c9add41bfb&turl=https%3A%2F%2Ftse2.mm.bing.net%2Fth%3Fid%3DOVP.-6I9Quwx116w30Mb_KiQLAEsDh%26pid%3D15.1%26h%3D225%26w%3D300%26c%3D7%26rs%3D1&rurl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DYIjWg-_X42I&tit=Johnny+Carson+1982+09+23+Bob+Uecker&c=5&h=225&w=300&l=4349&sigr=11bthvmcn&sigt=113b3uf50&sigi=12rf8jgla&age=1482260364&fr2=p%3As%2Cv%3Av&fr=ipad&tt=b
  3. Check out this article from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel: Brewers Podcast: Doug Melvin looks back at 2008 Brewers team, including acquisition of CC Sabathia https://jsonl.in/2MzUT7h A couple nuggets that I didn't know.... Green and Brantley were the next prospect wanted after LaPorta. He and The Cleveland GM couldn't come to an agreement on which combo of prospects with one or the other so Doug called and said that if we get to the playoffs, the Cleveland GM could pick between Brantley and Green; if no playoffs, Doug could pick. The Dodgers GM told manager (Torre) that he felt deal was in place for CC. When owner was told of the pending trade, owner didn't want to part with top prospects since he was in the middle of selling team. Bush and Soup were 8-0 in August.
  4. Miley might just get released. He needs to do well in His rehab assignments to get a shot in the starting rotation.... sounds funny to say, but we have several young candidates to fill the rotation now, and all of them might be ahead of Miley.
  5. Love how people bag him after a bad start..... say it before.
  6. I am willing to switch SS from time to time too, but Braun there seems to be an even bigger reach.
  7. Assigning blame or responsibility aside, do you feel he plays/the coaches place him too deep at times? One could never watch a game in person or on TV to give your analysis... Me, I notice it on the slow rollers; he seems to come farther in than most 3B. At games, I have said to myself that Shaw should be a step or two in.... just a feel for the game I guess, not sure if I'd be right though not seeing spray charts, video, etc.
  8. Braun: .245/.300/.446/.746, 0.4 bWAR Villar: .272/.320/.402/.723, 0.8 bWAR The offensive upgrade here isn't enough to justify the enormous hit you'll take defensively and the higher rate of injury you'll have to Braun. You're not replacing Arcia's offense here. You make good points. Yet, Villar is not great defensively and the odds Villar's hitting stats stay equal or better than Braun for the year are not good. Braun is hitting the ball hard now, as well. More than anything, the perceived weakness on this team is its offense. And again, he doesn't need to play the position daily or even the whole game when he does. Why not give it a shot?
  9. Crawford for Arcia and a couple of our top ten prospects should be enough since we would be on the hook for what, about 50 million thru 2021. Eh, I don't know if I like it...
  10. Pitching high in the zone, shifting too much, having starters go just 5 innings or 80 pitches, having 4 or 5 legit starting outfielders on the roster...... All of these were complaints that turned to positives or normals for our team. I think Braun at 2B could be the same. Play him there for his first two at bats and then move him to LF, 1B, or bench. Our team is great when we get a lead and hand the game to the bullpen. Get easily the best offense out there early and then adjust.
  11. The Brewers are in first place. Why do we need to get extra creative with the team defense right now? To be better...
  12. He plays up on the first pitch or two for some guys watching for the bunt, but sometimes I feel not far enough. A good bunt and the bunter is on, especially when the shift is on. On regular at bats, he might be better served stepping up a step or two.... His range would be hurt, but I get what Briggs is saying. Turning two and getting that slow roller would be the positives.
  13. Aguilar played 3B this year. It wasn't ideal, but he did well. Much the same, It could happen if offense continues to get little from 2B, SS, and C. Is it likely? No. Should it be a possibility, much like Aguilar at 3B? Yes. Just trotting out same ol options without trying something different is just as crazy... Again, he doesn't need to play there entire game.
  14. Our best hitters would be in the lineup, for all the negatives it might bring. If we get a lead, we can get a better d in, and hand the game over to one of the best bullpens in the league. Not a crazy idea.
  15. Williams warming earlier... not sure why he wasn't used
  16. His cutter is really moving, jamming many righties...... handcuffed Pina once too.
  17. In general, yes, but inside the ballpark I've had way more issues with Cubs fans. Dodgers fans are third worst. Cubs fans are the worst, yet possibly best in other ways...... Worst with bandwagon, annoying, loud mouthed, heckle, courteous, etc.. Best or close with traveling to other parks, spending on tickets, being vocal for their team... Still just miserable being around them in the workplace and ballpark.
  18. Doing this occasionally.... Gets our best bats 4 ABs a game (Braun 2B, Thames RF) Can insert Or switch Sogard or Perez late in game if winning Can place Braun on opposite side of pull hitter ( righty-2B, lefty-SS) Isn't ideal, but what we are doing now is not either Cain Yelich Braun Shaw Aguilar Thames Pina Sogard/Villar
  19. I don't get this. It's not like they lost because of that, they lost because they didn't score. His maneuvering did exactly what they wanted it to do. Said after the game he did that in the 8th to try to preserve the pen in case it went to extras which made a lot of sense. So these 8th inning guys all got warmups?

  21. I'm glad she was able to play, but I'm not sure how wise it was to play softball pregnant.... especially at first where she could get a bad hop or three.
  22. https://brewers.mlblogs.com/brewers-wives-victorious-in-brewers-cubs-wives-softball-challenge-b17237e8956d Looks like the wives (and players) had some fun with this....
