  1. THE story, of course, is that we are up 7 games in the division on June 11. And doing it with the following… _ 22nd in payroll, a third of Yankees and Mets _ a severely makeshift and injury-riddled rotation including Woodruff, Miley, Gasser, Burnes (trade), Junis, Ross, etc. _ a new manager
  2. Exactly. Just get in and get hot.
  3. And I can see Black being here soon too as our left-handed 1B. I can’t see us adding an infielder. If Murphy hits him 3 for multiple games, that tells you a lot.
  4. I cannot imagine the Brewers looking for another OF who is injury proned and owed almost 60 million dollars like Roberts. They have an abundance of cheaper and healthier options, just an outstanding position for a small market team, and gambling on an injured OF especially seems unneeded.
  5. There should be a bunch of quality upgrades to trade for at SP once late July comes around and the Wild Card picture gets clearer. Even on Florida and Chicago (AL) alone, there are five or six possibles. Starting pitching is the obvious weakness. I am all for someone who can pitch next year here too even if it costs us a bit more prospect wise. We will be having a 40 man crush starting this offseason….no use in standing pat just to put more up for Rule 5. We are in an excellent position to add a SP rental AND a long term SP for the next few seasons.
  6. Code is DAYGAME...it should work. I just checked. But if you are confused, it might be because those HALF prices are the half prices...not the regular price. As themed for this year, Brewers jacked up half price game prices A LOT!
  7. I hope he can do home games this year and and a couple more yet… If his mind and voice are fine/ok, just get the guy to the stadium and have him do his thing. And even if it is just 20 games a year, I think the fans would be thrilled, and it would be good for Ueck’s mental side, as well.
  8. Hader hijacked CC’s way of using relievers. He “couldn’t” use Hader the way he wanted (more than one inning outings…not always the 9th when Knebel and Jeffress were around). CC chose not to make an issue of dealing with Hader and his agent, and the bullpen was less match up based, Hader coulda shoulda came in to finish the 8th when leading a few times, as well. I think what CC did for the Brewers was still fantastic. I will give him an A- for two division titles, several playoff appearances, and a NLCS Game 7…so close to a WS. The big impress is doing it on a payroll ranked around/between 17-24 of the 30 teams yearly.
  9. Phillies’ 4 of 5 first batters were lefties. Brewers could list Koenig as starter next three games! Or Koenig, Milner, and Hudson. This either makes Phillies move lefties down in order or make switches with righties. With a hot team like Phillies, get them doing different things. Also, this allows Brewers starters who maybe go 5 innings the opportunity to face the bottom of the order three times and not face the top of the order three times.
  10. Not sure why a normal high leverage guy isn’t on now…
  11. He went from batting 3rd on a top scoring MLB to the minors. Not normal.
  12. I remember reading a paragraph in a recent article about a pitching simulator like program the team purchased to help hitters….seeing different arm slots and pitch speeds, matching up today’s pitcher with simulator. I have just searched 20 minutes for this article/paragraph. Does anyone remember this?
  13. 2011….he had a walk-off sac fly in the game right before All-Star break. Must have got his hit after the break at some point…
  14. I can see both Mitchell and even Hoskins getting several games in Appleton. Not as much of a rush to bring them up now. And yep, Chourio could be the odd man out n the outfield….at least for the short term.
  15. If we are in good shape with the the bullpen early next week, I think he comes up because of the off day on Thursday.
  16. not to me but I am going for it…. Closer is important, yes. Hader deal is a terrible way to run a franchise and there is no coincidence we did not trade Burnes at deadline last year or other first place teams dealing elite closers at deadlines, or will not trade Adames this deadline. And Hader was clutch in September and October for the Padres, by the way….waaay outperformed Rogers. Glad we backwardex our way to making the trade look good with Contreras. No, I do not think Hader would’ve signed with us and no we shouldn’t have tried to spend huge money for a closer. I assumed wrongly that Hader would have been dealt in the offseason, ala Burnes. And fan-favorites count minimally…there is something there to drawing crowds with some familiarity but winning trumps it.
  17. We are getting guys like Hudson, Koenig, and Megill off of the trash heap, yet some are willing to empty out the “good” prospects for one guy who has less than three years of control? I cannot see it. We need a constant flow of good and cheap talent coming up regularly. I am all for getting a great SP with control, but losing a Mis, Quero, and maybe more is too much.
  18. Off day on Thursday, June 6 (next week)…… if bullpen is not severely taxed, bring up Uribe for to sit games on Tues, Wed, Thurs. (off day), Fri., and Sat.
  19. Could have done this and more after the season…
  20. Awful trade then that got bailed out by a crazy good Contreras deal later.
  21. No impact on clubhouse? Just listening to players reactions show they were not happy with the move and were not felt as being supported. Even DS admitted it had huge impact…you know more on this topic than the GM? https://apnews.com/article/mlb-sports-milwaukee-san-diego-padres-brewers-0bc4a05b897f71e8cb7be04768a2c37e
  22. Hader had another year of control and the Brewers coulda woulda got similar deal for him after 2022. Less likely, yep, but still similar. The Hader trade sucked the life out of that clubhouse, along with not picking up a bat and cutting Lamet to keep a fringe pitcher around. Deadline deals are supposed to pick up a team like the Canha and Santana deal. The Hader trade aftermath is also a big reason why Burnes was dealt this offseason instead of the middle of last or this season. And I will be shocked if Adames is dealt too with his contract up, mainly because of the Hader trade.
  23. I was upset AFTER the trade in 2022 and so were most, including manager and players. I am not anymore, but I still don’t get trading Hader at that moment in the season of a first place team. I think even Stearns and Arnold would not pull a trade like that again at deadline because of how it affected a clubhouse. And cannot agree with people who say Hader trade was a good one. Brewers missed the playoffs in 2022 largely because of that trade and you have to include a future trade gymnastics to make it look good. The Contreras trade was the crazy good one, perhaps 2nd best in franchise history, but that doesn’t make the Hader one ideal by itself. The Hader trade more likely now is a GM lesson of what not to do.
  24. And no way Adames is traded…. Hader trade still looms large as clubhouse dynamite to first place team. We would have to be an unlikely playoff team before he is shipped away.
