Never was a popular topic here, come now,…just a side. And the topic of signing him before a single MLB at bat was off the radar for about all of us.

Never compared player type or futures of Hiura with Chourio…if insulting, get it right. I compared Brewers lack of interest in promoting Hiura based on quality stats in AAA/MLB in 2022/2023 at obvious need positions (DH/1B) with eagerness of Brewers to give 19 year old ultra big bucks without a MLB at bat. Just showing two Brewers approaches for two different players and that I disagree with both.

I agree with your statements on Nov. 5….love the obviously part. “A couple things: First of all, you'd obviously give him some major league run before offering such a deal. Wait until he proves himself at a high level. That mitigates some of the risk right there.”

And I have no confidence in Brewers offensive decision makers when Winker, Adames, and Rowdy hit in lineup order 2-4 half the year. Trusting Brewers brass with pitchers is a lot different than the same with hitters.

Would rather pay about nothing to Chourio for 3 and a half years and the arby for 3 years than paying a guaranteed $100 million(?) for maybe saving $ about a decade from now to a player who might want outta here before then.. Would rather lock up Contreras for 5 years instead. I believe any small market, big money MLB deal for 9-10 years for any one player isn’t worth the risk, especially one that hasn’t played an inning of MLB ball. Bad money deals can’t be made up here like in NY or LA. Some wanted Arica to sign a crazy big and long contract a while back too with limited experience…said the same then too. If we are a bigger market team, I am with the majority and think the risk is worth it for Chourio, but we are not. And I find it annoying that all the negatives I get for this conservative $ view are being pointed out by some who did not see this as a great team move, oh just a few days ago. If this was such a great team move, people should have been chattering about this for months. For me, it’s more about the financial risk than it is about how good Chourio will be, and that, I believe, is fair.

And what is stopping Chourio from demanding a trade/holding out in year 5 or 6 of a 8-9 year deal for more money or better team? I don’t see the upside of this like others can…. a couple extra years of team control…maybe? Just let him play a few months or year. The price will more likely go down, unless you think he is ROY candidate. I think Chourio’s agents are playing off the Brewers desperate need to market anything positive, urging fans to not dwell on CC fiasco or Bernie Brewer being threatened by MA with a gun to his head for more WI public funds. Actually, I’m all for a deal like this if it comes at a big discount ala Lucroy or Peralta. The $ numbers were not big and the risk was not huge as both had established themselves already.

I agree….Chourio hit .805 in MiLB last year compared to Hiura’s .960. So right. Not a fair comparison. Winker would be better.

We can’t play Hiura to DH our offensively challenged lineup when he hits beyond well in AAA (and more than adequate in majors the previous year), but we are willing to give what..70 to 100 million for a player who hasn’t hit MLB pitching? Why not have him play in MLB, oh I don’t know, a few months before talking about this? And great timing… get 100s of millions from STATE/COUNTY/CITY and IMMEDIATELY give it away to minor league prospect. Pump the brakes, Brewers….way too risky to do this without seeing him hit daily at MLB level against 95-96 MPH pitching with movement nightly. If he is Good or great, whatever… could do this deal a year or two from now without costing us much. Close to crazy to do this deal now.

They can dare as much as they want….this dare is a Winter fanlike event that used to be (mainly) free. Now taking your kids runs a couple hundred dollars. Staying home.

Just par for the course over the last few seasons…organization looking for every dime possible….charging $42 and fees for an hour autograph session and show? So two or three mediocre Brewers autographs? Waaay more family friendly from 2005 to 2019 or so…

Rickie resorted to swearing for opening statement….wow or boy……he means business. Is that what he’s trying to convey? I get tired of that rationale. Speak clearly and make sense without others having to bleep your speech. He does realize we want to hear his words at a press conference?

Low times for Brewers here in Nov. 2023.. Craig to Cubs….a sad low. A tear down seems imminent… Attanasio gun to Bernie Brewers head for stadium deal or threat to leave Milwaukee. And that stadium deal, however you feel about it, is still contentious without the needed votes. Turmoil over the next months would cause MA to reload the gun. Brewers PR at a low with little fan interaction with players…token stuff here or there. Even groups like World Series Club not getting speakers.. No apparent vision for TV deal with Balley going bankrupt… Many look at team as nickel and diming players and fans…fair or not, I don’t know, The perception is there. So kind of awful

Two top 100…. For each Burnes and Williams. I don’t see that level of value for Adames. Williams has two years left to Burnes one, which gives a top RP some more value. I expect both to be dealt, especially Burnes. If both are traded, we should have the top minor league system in baseball. This should at least give Brewers fans hope in 2025 and moving ahead and somewhat past the CC saga and Attanasio’s hijack of the stadium upgrades. The lack of Brewers PR with no Brewers On Deck and limited Arctic Tailgate (so limited access to players the last few years) still gives fans the feel that it is a complete bother for our team to greet its fans, though. Compared to years 2007-2011, it is night and day.

No Burnes is a huge blow…..he still was really good for a down year. He ate innings.

Yelich could about be given away now to any team willing to pay his salary. Not that I think we should do this, but with CC leaving the bat signal calls for a rebuild and to prioritize funds to younger players. The fan base is open to all this now.

What stood out to me was his answer to the media on how he still has these deep relationships with current and past players… how that will not change and how his other relationships in the “community” (maybe neighbors or friends or Whitefish Bay folk) will continue because they are not baseball first. So good and great….nobody cares about you hobnobbing now, though. That being said, he is showing no regard for the Brewers fan base, said nothing to them out the door. Ignored or flippantly forgot, whatever. Well, other than that he is looking for a new challenge of beating the Brewers in the NL Central, he could care less about the Brewer fan. And yes, he should. If anyone ever should, it should be him. But not now. Not anymore. And he can do what he wants and be Richie Cunningham out the door, but the bridge is burnt on a shallow sports level. Pretty naive or unbelievably cold blooded on his part, and maybe both.

The most surprising thing is him being naive about staying in WI. I mean he can by right, but it will never be the same. He doesn’t see himself as the bad guy even though he has done the bad guy things. And he can’t talk his way out of it, which will be new to him.

Everyone knew it was to spite Ted Thompson first…. Favre still had no leg to stand on (since he walked away and retired first), but people could understand why Favre wanted to beat Green Bay.

Go be a Cub fan then… Attanasio obviously wanted him back and would have paid him more than any manager in the history of baseball. Go be a Cub if you are blaming Attanasio AT ALL for this.

No, not clearly cultivated… opposite of clearly. Go with Craig for a while until this team is worthy of your allegiance. Please. None on Attanasio. All on Craig. He’s a Cub and you blame Attanasio? He chose to go dark side.

Co-worker approached me like a close family member died today… and dropped Counsell bomb. Shocked. Arrogant prick. Wear that Cubs hat proud and burn that bridge.
