  1. We even have a 26 man roster now (since 2020) instead of 25, and we still hear the defensive thing for a quality bat at DH!
  2. Take all his stats then… include 2019 if you are going to take 2020. Or take ALL of his MLB 2022 stats. You don’t want to compare those though. That doesn’t fit. Or take what he has done at AAA for what two or three years. I understand his Spring Training was bad. I would have had a tough time putting him up to start the season, but I probably would because he would have hit DH for me in 2022. So yes, of course you cherry-pick stats. I do too.
  3. Mismanaged to the extreme in 2022… never given a shot at DH… hit .274 as DH last year with .949 OPS in in 98 PA… what screams dont continue letting this guy hit DH?
  4. It’s a double standard by many here… you can’t defend being against Hiura with offensive stats, whether this year or last. When you try, you realize over half the team fails that standard too. It’s a gotcha. His bat of course has to play on this group of Perkins, Jones, Tapia, Winker.. let’s just say Hiura was a CC favorite and hit 2022 stats at DH this first half. Would there be a call to get rid of Hiura? The ol boys club here, with CC as unquestioned leader, would fight tooth and nail for anyone daring to question CC’s decisions. It’s getting to be like the emperor has no clothes with keeping Hiura down and giving others time here first on this DH OPS worst struggling offensive team.
  5. Hader was still better the last 6 weeks of the season… lights out. Rodgers, not so much. We blew more saves than anyone in August and September… he was a major part.
  6. Last season, though….Tough to say when his presence last season could have put us in the playoffs.
  7. Disagree on all fronts… not even sure how to respond. Just putting up his 2022 #s helps us obviously if he plays DH five times a week.
  8. 5-2 against Cincy; 4-2 against Cubs
  9. At what point do the Padres make Hader available? 9 games out of WC AND three teams ahead of them in division. He’s gone at deadline if this holds somewhat.
  10. Fangraphs- Brewers at 53% and Reds at 41% for making playoffs today. That third playoff spot likely keeps both about same regardless of what happens today. https://www.fangraphs.com/standings/playoff-odds-graphs
  11. I’ll go with my interpretation. https://proofed.com/writing-tips/exception-that-proves-the-rule/#:~:text=For example%2C if you see, outside of the library”).
  12. You lost me with the pigs….. what am I pining for exactly? Saying the Cards have 4% odds of making the playoffs?
  13. Agreed. The Mindset to simply have him “play” the position of DH regularly and consistently is not there with the Brewers or seemingly most teams. His defensive liabilities, bad spring, and Winker’s presence have cost him here and/or elsewhere.
  14. If we cannot ignore the “previous 500 or so at bats”, then let’s go all the way back in his career and take the whole shabang… Minors career OPS .993 MLB career OPS .771 Brewers 2023 DH MLB .601 OPS (Hiura DH in 2022-.949 OPS)
  15. Nope. Not zero chance. We can go with Winker. I would go with Hiura. I would be ok with going with both actually…Tapia or Perkins can go.
  16. So let’s review here… 2022 stats do not matter. 2023 Spring Training Stats do matter. 2023 AAA stats do not matter. Winker playing not well at DH does not need to be repeated, even though he continues to play fairly regularly. No matter what Hiura has done or will do this year, it does not matter. Yeah, I disagree with everything. I even disagree with you that Hiura blew his chance this Spring. This is based on him STILL not getting a call up and actually looking for warm bats outside of the organization, I doubt that he makes the team regardless of what he did in Spring Training because of Winker.
  17. Hiura 2022 ranked 4th on team in OPS and 6th with OBP last year. Only current Brewer ahead of him then was Yelich in OBP and Tellez in OPS. Hiura’s 2022 would rank 2nd on team in OPS and 8th in OBP on team this year. I was a fan of trying Winker and all, but he is hitting .572 OPS at All Star break.
  18. If this be the reason, I’m not sleeping tonight and will walk and talk myself to the nearest mental institution with Cubs gear on.
  19. Miller has been fine. Better than most others playing for us at major league level. He has been one of the pleasant surprises, actually.
  20. Sounds great to me…
  21. I am trying to show different stats… not same. Apologies for repeats. I am in the right thread, though. I am game for discussing why he is not on team. Good point……I cannot fathom why he is not in Milwaukee. Cannot get over it. To me, he would instantly be filling a gaping hole. Hit him DH and hit him low in order. Strike outs? Not good, yep. He also struggles with high velocity up in zone especially. Most do, but he specially and maddenly so. Low velocity high in zone were whiffs or fouls back. So maybe hole in his swing is part of it too. But I’ll take it all if he can still put up what he did last season. Who wouldn’t? His barrels/PA was 4th on team last year, 83rd in all of baseball. His barrels/batted ball easily was first on team and 17th in all of baseball. And he is hitting well in AAA this year. If there wasn’t a DH, defense would be another reason. Yet he could fill in at 1B or LF in a pinch. But it is incomprehensible why a top 5 or 10 bat (currently… not in two or three years with Chourio, Black, Frelick, etc.) in the entire organization is not on a team desperate for hitting at the DH spot.
  22. Brewers now .601 DH OPS… League worst. Staggeringly bad for a designated bat the manager hand picks each game. The Oakland A’s team OPS is .650, league worst, by the way. It gets worse. The 20th best team DH OPS is the Mets at .703, over 100 points higher than Brewers. Over half MLB have team DH OPS in upper 700s or.800s. Easy way to fix that seemingly in house.
  23. 2022 Hiura OPS+115 2023 Yelich OPS+129, Contreras 110, Adames 93, Anderson 92, Wiemer 83, Tellez 81… What I like about OPS+ is that fielding your position is not taken into account, but it is adjusted to the ballpark. It compares the league to how you are hitting, as well. It is just the bat. And if Hiura would simply be plopped into that DH position, I think this is what you could expect.
